Vale Mr Lord. Your articles always invited spicy debate and your dedication to the craft cannot be denied.

RIP, David Lord: Australian sports journalism icon was 'always thoughtful and thought-provoking'

I think even the kiwi’s are bored of drinking from it

Scrap the Giteau Law: Rugby Australia should look to Rassie's 'Boks RWC recipe if it wants to re-join the big boys' table

Leinster/Ireland model perhaps working well for a sustained level of relatively high performance.
Springbok model you have to say works for World cups. Having your players in the best clubs around the world, getting high quality coaching and big game experience regularly and playing with high quality teammates; hones the player to perform in those big tournaments. Cohesion is less reliant on knowing the player’s quirks and just relies on knowing the player will make the right calls. Kind of fits the test rugby model of a simple game plan based around structured brutality. Not “beautiful rugby” inspired by flashes of brilliance that come from individual’s, and backed up by those that know these individuals so well as to expect it.
If we’re honest. The Bledisloe used to mean everything. But it’s lost its shine. World cups are what it is all about.

However. Australia is unique in that without a quality professional local comp, the number of players who will switch to the dark side (league) will only increase. And that will eventually erode the number of players we are exporting to those top clubs.

The inconsistency was last week. Not this week.

'Not ideal': Reds star duo cop Super Rugby bans after red cards - but where's the consistency?

Tahs are also down their starting and first choice reserve hookers. Despite Heaven having a blinder on the weekend this is no small loss to the pack.

Five things: Lesson Aussie rugby can learn from Kiwis - and why next month will determine whether SR gap has closed

Strange how Aussie crowds are considered make or break but when 3 guys and a dog is all that show up to watch a game in NZ it doesn’t get much of a mention.

The Wrap: Crusaders' shot clock fiasco and shhh, don’t put the moz on Darby

There was nothing wrong with the fend. And there is a huge difference between that and Kerevi’s.
Leading elbow fend to the head/neck is illegal. Leading open palm fend to anywhere is not.

But there is nothing wrong with an open palm fend to the throat. So what “lesser indiscretion”?

'Brain explosion': Wallaby stars sent off as Queensland left red-faced in Moana Pasifika shocker

Gordon shines it a bit of an over reaction. He threw a couple of bullet passes which were sweet. But his tries were not play maker tries. They were simply support runner tries. Maybe he’s better off at 12? For all his attributes, I don’t see much creating from him.

'Kid wonder': Lancaster, Gordon shine as Rebels take one giant step in locking in maiden Super Rugby finals berth

Emotionally balanced. I don’t think the points table is goi by to be much of a factor for the Tahs this year

One good game a year is usually all us Aussie fans get!

I prefer 16mm

At least this evens out the Drua game from a Tahs perspective.

He did also muff a try when he had 2 unmarked players outside him. If Harrison is game fit enough to play 80 then he should be starting next time.

Credit to the forwards coach Paulie T, also.
The scrum which was expected to be a vulnerability stood strong and didn’t gaff about. They got the ball out fast to avoid danger. Even the reserve props did the right thing in sacking it under pressure when the ball was at the back to encourage the ref to just play on.
Lineout and maul was good too on offence and defence. But the most important part is the Tahs direct runners inside 30 metres look very dangerous with quick ball. Wave after wave of hard bodies hitting the line.
There is a good team in there when they show up. They should do it more often

Heaven is a great find. Does his job. A few silly penalties but still I’m impressed

He’s a geezer.

Even if he missed it. He had a couple of seconds up his hand

I don’t care about Wallaby prospects. But there are games I am sure we would have won with Harrison on the field this year that we lost. That much I am sure of.

Welcome back Will Harrison. And your golden boot.

They were both clear red cards. I have no interest in a debate centred around whataboutism.

Both were red cards. What are you smoking?

'Brain explosion': Wallaby stars sent off as Queensland left red-faced in Moana Pasifika shocker

Nope. He was told by the Tahs at 18 he wouldn’t get a game till he was 23

Rooster must remodel: Angus Crichton says he'd want to 'dominate' in rugby union - this is what he'd have to change

“If he took playing rugby remotely seriously he would have come in his late teens or early twenties at latest”

Ermm. He was in Rugby then. He only went to League when he was told he wouldn’t get a run until he was 22 or 23. So he elected playing league over not playing union.

I was referring more to the head but as “attempting”. I think a smashed nose that can lead to disfigurement and or ongoing breathing issues would classify as GBH.
