They tried that. Finch failed miserably.

Five-way battle for two Test batting spots

5. Coach 6. Our collective rugby brain

Four hard truths for Australian rugby

Perhaps I should have said Under 12s. That would be a better comparison.

Six talking points from Wallabies versus England

RA didn’t have the money to pay Cheika out and bring in a new coach. The problem was giving Cheika such a long contract.

Six talking points from Wallabies versus England

Indeed. Extremely low rugby IQ. Decision making pathetic – it’s what I’d expect from school boys. The best part about this loss is Cheika will go and we can get a coach who is more intelligent, analytical, and tries to exploit the opposition’s weaknesses.

I agree with nearly everything you said but test cricket will never, ever die. There might slight tweaks to it but it is still seen as the pinnacle of cricket.

Have Australia really been the better team in this Ashes?

True, plus poor umpiring favoured England.

Australian selectors have a lot to answer for. Why the %#$& would you persist with David Warner??? Most people would’ve dropped him after the third match.

Have Australia really been the better team in this Ashes?

Is there a better way to determine who wins the ashes when a series is drawn?

Have Australia really been the better team in this Ashes?

I agree 2-2 is probably a true reflection of where the two teams are at but it COULD have been different. Results don’t always reflect the strength of the teams. England beat India 4-1 but the series was a a lot closer than the result suggests.

😂 😂 😂

Have Australia really been the better team in this Ashes?

Could easily have been 3-1 to Australia, had it not been for umpiring decisions and DRS.

Have Australia really been the better team in this Ashes?

Actually, the number one aim is to bring the Ashes home, hence the celebrations.

The concussion replacement rule came in a few months ago and was initiated by CA. I think it’s fair enough, otherwise concussed players will risk coming on. Even if they didn’t come on again, why should the team be disadvantaged? As to why Anderson couldn’t be replaced..not only did he bring an injury into a game but players with physical injuries are not replaceable.

I think numbers on players’ back are a good idea..everyone (especially those in the crowd) know exactly who the fielders are.

Warner and Khawaja face make or break Ashes Test

Selectors are a bunch of old men who have lost touch. Bring in some young blood. I would have chosen half a dozen batsmen before Marsh including Handscomb, Wade, Short (I know I know a 20/20 specialist but he’s a clean hitter).

Selectors can’t rid themselves of the Marsh habit

The one that has caused the most controversy (homosexuality) is a minority group (and the one that is most easily attributable). If I say I hate liars, no one would get offended even though we all lie. It’s not like you are labelled a liar because you lie occasionally. In fact, if he had left homosexuality off the list, no one would’ve cared or have been offended. Minority or not though, it’s vilification and has no place in contemporary sport.

Tah-Tah, Izzy: Rugby Australia, NSW Rugby confirm they'll sack Folau

You say freedom of speech..but he has persecuted a minority group. Freedom of speech is a lot more palatable when you are the persecuted or you’re speaking out against an injustice.

England’s bowlers will get smashed.

Ignore ICC rankings, Australia's still the team to beat at the World Cup

Kidding yourself

The Wallabies team that can bring home the World Cup

It is not against every fan in the world. I would bet any amount if you had a Cooper v Foley poll as to who you would prefer at the RWC, Cooper would come out on top. Cooper has had a very good start to Super Rugby while Foley hasn’t.

The Wallabies team that can bring home the World Cup

How can anyone replace uzzie after the Indian series??

If Finch fails again, Paine should take back the ODI captaincy

Replace Carey with Wade and you’ve got a side that will compete. Wade’s form is too hard to ignore.

Aussies salute in India, perfectly timing World Cup charge

Agree. He stuffs up too often. Pushes the pass.

Michael O'Connor is a brilliant choice as the third Wallabies selector

Hanibal, you make some fair points. I also would’ve preferred RA to sack Cheika. However, a few points:
1) If they had sacked him, we’d be paying for two salaries with no Director of Rugby. At least we have someone who Cheika is directly answerable to.
2) Some of the losses were pretty close.
3) Very importantly, we now have a panel of selectors. Some of Cheika’s selections were mind boggling and he can no longer play favourites.

Cheika survives the axe as Rugby AU bring in Scott Johnson as director of rugby

Ponting or Warne as coach?

Lehmann set to retire in 2019

Cookie, those stats are mostly a result of one thing: penalties conceded. Imagine if penalties conceded had been the other way around? The rest of the stats would’ve been completely different. Discipline has always been a problem for the Wallabies.
