Good read! There are some fundamental flaws with the NBL today that are restricting it growing. having a person running it that ran the NSW economy into the ground scares me for starters!
The NBL needs a shot in the arm, a golden knight like soccer had (Frank Lowy) that will bring the public back. You know your sport is in trouble when the icon (Andrew Gaze) doesnt believe in it anymore and openly criticises the way the league is run.
the worst thing the NBL did was believe its own hype. you go to a game today and they still run the same music, courtside announcers, boring cheerleaders as they did in the 90s! might be time to think of a new way to present the game to get the public interested!

If Mark Worthington goes to the AFL it will just be another hit to the NBL!!

If Sydney supporters are that adamant their team is under represented, then try turning up to a game and supporting your club! If week 1 of the finals rolls around and there are only 15,000 at ANZ or the SCG, then you deserve the ridicule!

on the football side of this piece, the Hawks need to lift and dominate on a ground where they have struggled over the years. the SCG and the Swans are a bogey team for the Hawks and if people are going to take them seriously, they need to win convincingly this weekend!

Collingwood are done unless Cloke and Dawes can somehow stop the rot and find some form. watching it on saturday night, it just needed some benny hill music to be played to really add to what was a comical forward line!
