Too much sport is never enough! SSTID.

This is a brilliant piece of analysis that I’m sure is welcomed on the Roar!

As a passionate Souths fan, it pains me to admit that Penrith simply have been the best and most dominant team of the last 3 years.

What’s even more painful is that their uptick has happened at the same time as ours, and they are better. Sports is all about cycles and at the moment Souths are in one of their up cycles. I believe if the Panthers weren’t at the top, we would have had number 22. We’ve played good enough footy to beat everyone but Penrith.

I fear Souths may miss out on this window and we will need to wait another 5 or so years to enter the window again.

We came really close in 2021 and might be ruing that intercept and missed goal for years to come.

What’s the point? Understanding Souths’ attack, and how it's uniquely designed to take down Panthers

I think it’s time that people re-evaluate Souths for this year, and reflect on what has been.
It’s pretty clear that Souths targeted a Premiership while Bennet was at the club.
After it was confirmed he would leave, the club needed to look to the future. Letting Adam Reynolds go was a bad decision, no doubt about that, but our future looks strong. Blake Taafe, Ilias, Murray, Koloamatangi, Graham and Moale are our future. Where Mitchell plays, whether Mamouzelos can be our hooker, and who our halves will be are the questions we need to answer. Take this year to really grow these guys and maybe have 1 more shot with Cook and Walker at the end of their careers.

Bennett was brilliant at Souths, and last year was so, so close. I don’t think too many appreciate how close that GF was. An intercept pass, a missed goal, a 2point FG that bounced over the sticks. Any one of these things go differently and the whole convo about Souths changes. Penrith deserved their reward for 2 brilliant years but what Souths had built very nearly paid off.

After we lost I went outside to breathe and try to be Zen. It was nearly there, and it won’t be that close for a while yet.

Are the Rabbitohs going to make the eight?

As a Souths fan, I think the thing going for us is also the thing that is the biggest problem for Souths this year – we haven’t given a full 80 minute performance all year. The win against the Roosters in Rd1 and the shellacking of Brisbane in Rd8 are just about the only games where we played at our best for the whole game.

If Wayne is leaving the run late , it gets no later than this. He’s the master coach and if he can get the 2 best performances out of Souths at the pointy end, then we can beat anyone.

We’ve seen the best of the Roosters, Storm and Raiders. I’m not sure we’ve seen the best of Souths. I can only hope it will be this week and next. No confidence at all though.

The statistical truth: Raiders vs Rabbitohs

I wish TAB had a market on Des blaming referees each week. Easy money. Grow up mate and worry about your own performance.

Hasler facing fine over referee rant

I agree the Gabba test should be played, I believe it will be played with great emotion and heaviness. The Gabba test will be a test match that we will all remember forever, and every moment that happens will be remembered in that context. However I implore you all to turn on the Pakistan vs New Zealand match being played at the moment. The silence is so chilling. A wicket fell and there was no emotion or celebration from anyone. Today, and for the next few, is not the day to be playing cricket.

The Gabba Test must be played

We’ve certainly had enough years of disappointment to warrant an outpouring of emotion after some success. I can’t speak for other clubs because I don’t support them or see enough of their supporters. I have met some crazy rabbits fans though and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
