non-existent. they leech off the State League sides and pay them next to nothing for years of training and world-class facilities, the environment that some of these State League teams provide for the players to make the step up.

Sydney’s NYL team is a team of nobodies. who can make the step up to their first grade team? Only youngsters recruited directly from NSWPL First Grade. Petratos and Cole the prime examples, Antonis the exception because he’s been part of the NSWIS and AIS setup for so long already

Sydney FC's problems stem from poor squad building

Sydney FC play a terrible brand of football, and the SFS is such a gloomy arena at the best of times for Sydney because its never more than 1/3 full, usually 1/5 the way they are going. and on top of that I was abused by almost a dozen Sydney ‘fans’ while waiting in line for a drink.

The coach cant cope, the players make mistakes and signing Emerton is one of Sydney’s biggest money-spending flops to date. The crowds simply dont want to watch the mixture of disappointing and unwanted circumstances when Sydney FC is around.

Hope evaporating for Sydney FC fans

I asked the Roar to show the investigation it took to determine that my first article was “more fabrication than truth”.

I am really disappointed that the article was pulled because aside from the broader debate on Australian football it showed an ugly side to Sydney FCs supporter base, something that after my experience of non-toleration and racism at the Sydney FC vs Gold Coast United match at the SFS I believe needs to be exposed.

Western Sydney to Sydney: Shift in approach for A-League

because Olympic are bigger rivals to them than they will admit

Steggz the report on the NSWPL website about the game is sourced directly from Sydney FC’s website

Western Sydney to Sydney: Shift in approach for A-League

this is slander.

Western Sydney to Sydney: Shift in approach for A-League

Western Sydney to Sydney: Shift in approach for A-League

Steggz, do I really sound like Alex Poulos? Really?

Western Sydney to Sydney: Shift in approach for A-League

there were hardly any Sydney FC fans there haha they were all too scared to eat souvlaki and scared of the people in Croatian jerseys oooo boogie men

as for that matter there were no more than 200 Sydney FC fans the their game vs Olympic where there were almost 5000 on a cold and wet Saturday night for the Brett Emerton Cup

Western Sydney to Sydney: Shift in approach for A-League

thats like saying ‘if three paper houses have been blown away a brick house will as well’.. the previous bids have all been franchises that have failed to muster support or funding. Two very key issues in today’s game. we want more bums on seats and Lowy doesnt want to spend any more FFA money to keep clubs afloat.

Olympic is an example of a club that wants back in, that has the stability at board level and is raising its profile on a number of levels including youth development, womens teams, facilities, sponsorship, local appeal and its first grade side. its not asking for FFA handouts to start up or stay in the game. It wants its chance.

Western Sydney to Sydney: Shift in approach for A-League

viable like Sydney FC with $7million losses this year? or viable like Central Coast that cant pay its players or coaching staff? or viable like Gold Coast with average crowds of 1500? or viable like NQ Fury?

Western Sydney to Sydney: Shift in approach for A-League

fascinating to see the criticisms focusing on two main ideas;

1. “10,000 was a great crowd but it’s not a great crowd”, and
2. “Its great that Olympic have a progressive, stable and successful board but we’re unsure about the instability”

disappointing also for comment like Savvas’, especially when the half-dozen articles originally linked in to the article to attest to its credibility have been removed. This is quite simply not SOFC or NSL propaganda.

Reading this I tend to agree with a number of caveats and concerns regarding any future TV deal and what it might do to our game, without any clear solution to strengthen the bargaining position of the game for TV rights and keeping the integrity of the games to be shown. Simply put, there is no quick fix and no easy solution that involves both.

I would like to see the idea of SBS having TV rights with perhaps some form of governmental subsidy supporting the league in the absence of a pay-TV deal that destroys the character of our sport
