Who’s the cover for the second row? Leota?

CONFIRMED: Wallabies' two-decade first for RWC opener as Eddie explains Donaldson's selection

Male fans have got to stop comparing the players to male players and view them as players in their own game

Totally agreed.

But the door swings both ways….women’s football is its own game. It it not as well established as mens football, hence in the same vein….can all the women and various other hangers-on stop comparing pay/media attention/prestige with the mens game?

Womens sports which also have a more long established men’s game (I.e football, rugby) actually have a significant leg up on those women’s sports without such an estbalished mens game….think netball for example…

The comparison should be with other emerging sports, regardless of gender….not comparing a sport with a long established professional history with one that hasn’t…and demanding equal pay and exposure….

Australian women calling for real change in football should start it by turning up to A-League matches

Ah,…midweek after a massive loss…..must be time for the “boyz are hurtin” soundbites.. 😁

'Shows how far off mark we are': The side of Suli you never imagined seeing as Wallabies hope to rid 'demons'

I’ve never understood the love affair with this bloke. Im sure hes a great fella, and tries hard, but h has never impressed me in any test match he’s played.

Yes, you could put together a couple of highlights of one-off plays that look decent enough, and he kicked goals well in the france series a couple of years ago, but thats about it. He is a servicable link man, and supports well, but unfortunaltey I havent seen any real apititude for actually controlling a backline and running an attack. Whenever he was picked at 10, I thought the wallaioes always looked aimless and disorganised in attack. So when Christy uses the word ‘led’ to describe his efforts in those games the wallabies won, it does bemuse me.

Absolute best of luck to him, but he hasnt been treated shoddily in my book, hes actually had far more chances than many, many other players at test level (17 caps) without showing much. I reckon he might actually be a far better 12 than a 10 to be honest, but perhaps too small to be an effective 12 at test level.

Hope he proves me wrong….

Exclusive: Lolesio set to sign World Cup joker deal in France after Wallabies shunning

Qld need a new coach and a new exeprienced tighthead (to jostle with Nongoor and fagasse)

If we can bring both Les Kiss and Ollie Hoskins home from Longon Irish that could work.

Also, Hoskins is the type of passionate club man that I’d love to see at teh reds (evenr though hes from WA i think originally)

Reds won't rush Thorn replacement as Scott Johnson and former Origin player emerge as coaching candidates

Well….Eddie’s judged his first team selection (the coaching team) absolutley perfectly….

….he’s got options all over the park…

…of people to take the fall if they get bundled out early:)

Former league player and defence specialist named attack coach as Eddie locks in Wallabies World Cup staff

Revealed: Why Rugby Australia boss resigned four months out from World Cup as replacement emerges

Yep, ive been thinking for months “where is marinos?” in all this…..poor bloke doesnt look like he was given the chance to run his own ship.
Seen this 1000s of times in the corporate world….the chairperson basically takes over and starts acting like an Executive Chair…and the CEO effectively becomes a glorified COO….

Revealed: Why Rugby Australia boss resigned four months out from World Cup as replacement emerges

Fair stats Pete.
But looking at vunivalu this season…id eat my hat if hes not carry a little more than 99kgs around….
My Armchair view says probably closer to Kerevis weight at the moment….but i could be wrong

Wallabies winners and losers: Eddie has gone away from Rennie's 'form' principle and backed his eye

Vunivalu seems to be having a good crack at the ‘slowest big name queensland reds outside back recruit’ trophy.

Current holder: Ayumu Goromaru

Crusaders too good for clumsy Reds as Petaia, Wright star to push Wallabies credentials

Honestly, how ridiculous is this cross-code animosity in Australia.

having previously lived in the UK for many years, I can comfortably say that you dont just dont see this sort of chat over there…soccer (football), rugby union and rugby league all operate in the same market place, and there is a level of respect that they are all different sports. You often see official announcements or social media posts from one sporting body in support of another during big tournaments (i.e. RFU wishing the Football team good luck at the world cup etc – supporting their country, not just their ‘code’). Why over here is there this constant need for leaguies to bash union and vice versa.

Is the NRL’s position as the dominant winter sport in QLD and NSW really under threat from a much smaller sport making a couple of signings and potentially having some success? of course its not.

i thoiught the headline said Bledisloe DRAWN….and how i laughed……

Bledisloe dawn: The questions for the Wallabies ahead of Game 1

Get over it…some people like him, plenty of people don’t. Yes, there’s the stats that can be thrown back and forth all day to make whatever argument you want….but at the end of the day some sports stars ingratiate themselves to the public and are just ‘liked’ and other’s just aren’t unfort. Perhaps irrational, but a reality….

Think ‘Our’ Pat Rafter…..as oppossed to ‘Little’ Leyton Hewitt….Hewitt won double the career prizemoney that Rafter did, won nearly 3 times the number of tournaments…and they won the same amount of major tournaments……but guess who msot Australians would say they ‘like’ the most as a tennis player?….

Why the numbers lie in the curious case of Michael Hooper

Thanks Nick. I hope that Nic’s performances, as well as a reborn JOC can dispell this idea that still lingers in some more parochial corners of aussie rugby, that players who go to the north hemisphere never come back as better players….

I think this in the past had more to do with the age these players went overseas. Not so much about the skills they learn in the premierhsip/pro 14/16…. Which I think offer the chance for southern hemisphere players to round out their games (somewhat controversially, I’ll exclude the top 14, as I don’t think they are typically fit enough versus the GB and Irish based comps)

How Dave Rennie’s Wallabies moved on from Cheika-ball at the Cake Tin

I think everyone is missing the point.

They aren’t greedy. This has nothing to do with them not accepting 60percent.

This a way to leave the reds without contract complications. The discussion here should be about the culture at the reds that has made 3 players go to these lengths to get out….

The Wallabies should ban Hockings and Lucas for life

I said this on another article yesterday, and stand by it.

Left field suggestion for skipper, but im deadly serious….JOC…..if he slots into the 12 jumper (at reds and wallabies) plays as we all know he can, maintains his ‘born again’ attitude…I feel his rugby smarts and cpmpieitive spirit would make him a great skipper. Lets not judge him on the boy he was, but the man he’s become…he always had all the righ characteristics to be a leader in my view, they just werent directed correctly…

'I owe that man a lot': Michael Hooper praises Michael Cheika's time as Wallabies coach

yeah. I know it seems like a silly suggestion. But im deadly serious.

Assuming he slots into the 12 jumper next year (with reds and wallabies)…and plays as we all know he can, and maintains his ‘born again’ attitude to life and rugby; then his compieitive spirit and rugby brain I think would make him a good (if totally unexpected) choice….

Cheika's legacy: Consistent inconsistency and puzzling selection to the very end

You hear it here first…2020 Wallaby Skipper…James O’Connor

imagine the reams of ‘redemption story’ articles the papers will print….

Cheika's legacy: Consistent inconsistency and puzzling selection to the very end

Id normally agree. But As soon as the backs got over advantage line a little in 2H, the forwards began winning breakdowns. A bit chicken and egg. But I’ll also concede that the forwards needed a bit more grunt today. LSL prob needs to start over one of the pooper.

Wales withstand Wallabies' second-half fightback

I blame Cheika completely and totally for this loss.On one hand, Wales have been planning for this game for 2 years (since the draw was announced), and bring a settled sideAnd on the other, you have the wallabies selecting a backline that’s never played together as a unit before today. As a result, in attack we looked stuttering and disjointed. And MOST CRUCIALLY, it has taken the coach 4 years and 44 minutes to realise what all already knew about Bernard Foley…..It’s no coincidence that as soon as Foley got hooked, we looked a different side. But after the first half, the mountain was too high to climb….

Wales withstand Wallabies' second-half fightback

Winning ugly I think is more than fine for genuine fans of rugby….becuase there are many different ways to win a rugby match, hence the intriguing aspect of how different styles/tactis will battle against each other. But the ‘casual’ fan (if there are any left these days) will usually bemoan union (aafter a game like that) as endless kicking and scrums, because without a background in the game they cant appreciate the ‘chess’-like nature of the different tactics…and would much prefer to watch two sydney suburbs repeatedly send one-out runners bashing into each other in the ‘greatest game of all’…..

World Cup: Winning ugly a pretty attractive option for Wallabies

Well at least the slowest wing pair in test history both have a decent hoof…..they can kick it back instead of running….at altitude maybe that even qualifies as a game plan?

Tom Banks, Nic White named to start as Wallabies side to play South Africa is revealed

the irony is that if cheika had never selected him, and he had zero test caps, and showed his form this year, that he would probably be in all amateur pundits conversations as a potential 6.

either way…i still dont think we want him as coach:)

In a RWC year, what are Cheika’s future-proofing obligations?

Either way, it’s hard to imagine Cheika playing much if any role at all in selecting his successor. And why would he?
But then for the good of Australian rugby, why shouldn’t he?
Careful Brett….do we really want Ned Hanigan as the next Wallaby coach….?

In a RWC year, what are Cheika’s future-proofing obligations?

Spiro, when I first started reading you many years ago, you’d often mention Stephen Jones, the British rugby writer, and usually have a pop at him. I thought, “okay, they have an ongoing beef with each other”.

But over the years its clear that you’re actually just a bit of a chippy fella, constantly having a dig at fellow rugby journalists about their views…whether it’s Jones, Wayne Smith, Gregor Paul, and now Paul Cully….

I dont read their stuff and see your name mentioned, but you seem to love a snide remark about what someone else has written. Perhaps there’s more animosity in the press room than I am aware of….

The Waratahs' leaders, not Israel Folau, have led to this disastrous season
