Yes Davidde, it is so tiresome to constantly read the insecurities of these other sports journos from other codes. Instead of cheering on the gals of Nth America in their greatest moment of their sporting life—to shine for their country they yell abuse at them. What is it with these people that feel so insecure in themselves to write such things on the day of challenging for the most sort after trophy—the Football World Cup..? We have seen the same here of course with our Matildas. Not one word of good will in the Melbourne Press on the eve of their departure to Germany to compete in the Women’s Football World Cup.

Second place for football is no problem

Funny no one at FOX has written anything on the CCM’s academy as well, or did I miss them, cough, cough..

Can the A-League survive as a selling league?

Second division Russian Football—what in the world is he thinking? I would wager it would be no better than our own HAL—probably far less professional. The lure of an overseas contract is not the all and end all…. Kosta why oh why?

Can the A-League survive as a selling league?

Interesting comment—how would Rooney fair in Barcelona, or Ronaldo, no matter who plays up front for Barcelona they still are the best team going around and that is because they have Xavi and Iniesta controlling the play. Let’s not forget these players are more than capable of scoring goals as well, as we have seen in the UCL.

Lionel Messi not the greatest just yet

Fuss—-I would agree with the Argentina’s fans right now. I commented earlier before that Xavi and Iniesta make Messi look like a world beater. These two players are the best at present in the world imo—not a thickness of a hair between them. The tiki-taka football they play is breathtakingly beautiful to watch, (we saw how they tore Man U apart) and when you see how much Messi relies on these two player, you begin to understand why he at Barcelona is viewed as the best player in the world with all the adulation, however, we now know why after today, he is not the best player in the world, Xavi and Iniesta are, take your pick of either one of them.

Lionel Messi not the greatest just yet

MILF—-you continue to miss the point—the14 people who paid their hard earn were evicted and were not arrested. This sounds suss to me—if charges were laid for violent behaviour then OK the police have something worthy to say and can defend their actions . However, it appears they just wanted to turn this into a farce by evicting supporters for celebrating the goal perhaps. Then only to find themselves being mocked by the VicPol on social media, out of pocket and out of the ground for what appears over zealous behaviour that, the Police Spokesman now admits was unnecessarily heavy handed. Why are you arguing the point when the Police Spokesman has apologized to the Football Community they indeed got it wrong?

Idiotic Tweets copped the backlash they deserved

Do you really have to be a goal scorer to be the best player in the world? Take your pick Xavi and Iniesta are in my view the best players in the world at present. Without them Messi is not so hot. Let’s remember Messi was very ordinary in the 2010 world cup fro Argentina and lacked his usual penetration. Put Xavi and Iniesta in the team he then becomes a super star. Barca are the team they are because of the close triangles they play. Orchestrated by no other then the two maestros Xavi and Iniesta.

Lionel Messi not the greatest just yet

Sorry for Australian Football, because this ridi-Kewell-ous has become a Circus that Australian Football could have done without—-especially with the Matildas doing so well in the Women’s Football World Cup. We should be talking about the Timmy Cahill of Women’s Football—Simon’s brace of two sweat goals today.

Harry debate has become ridi-Kewell-ous

What a surprise this article is the writing of Midfielder.. C’mon Middie you are dividing the Football Family and creating division. And what for; do you hold some stock in FOX?

SBS cultivating culture of criticism

This deal is so confusing I’m still struggling with the 30/70 split. I heard Mandic make the announcement but as I understand it now, it’s 70% for Harry and nothing if the crowd does not go above the average gate. OK, Mandic did not make that clear. Now is the 70% the part only above the average gate, or is it the whole gate on the day that the 70% will come from? Who will determine what was the average and what constitutes the above average gate? I think this is all just a strategy by Mandic to keep Kewell in Europe, to make it impossible for Harry to end his career in Australia. I think he has achieved his goal. Thanks for the memories Harry.

The maths behind Kewell's proposal to the FFA

Mid—-I’m one of a larger number who agrees with Fozz and Ned.. Ned has no problem appearing on the SBS TWG show with Fozz and Les, and stays a hell of a long way, away from your mate Slater on FOX.

Good point !!!

Versleijen seeking better technical report than 2009

Sorry but you have been wrong about Fozz and SBS for so long that your comments are naive and repetitious. Fozz and Ned are in total agreement about small side games etc. and what needs to be done to improve the game at grass root level in Australia. You just can’t help yourself because Fozz was right about the British Coach’s approach to the game in Australia and even at the highest level in England. Don’t you know that the English manager happens to be an Italian and for a good reason.

Wake up Midfielder—-LM and Fozz have been preaching change for 10 years. Only now you’ve realised it—well done mate. Haven’t you heard Les Murray was promoting his book. First print was a sellout and now the reprints are going to be revised. Smart business maybe.

Correct… Feel = Ball Control.

Versleijen seeking better technical report than 2009

“When Barcelona scouted a 12-year-old named Lionel Messi in Argentina, do you think it said: “we love the way the ball bounces off his shins and the way he keeps tripping over. Let’s get him over to Catalonia, fix those problems and make him the world’s best player”. No of course not. He already had great technical ability.”

Thanks for the link Fuss, (I left a comment as well) I loved the above quote by Ned—says it all—-we choose players here with no technical ability and what is more disturbing is, we then try to teach them the 4-3-3 attacking system without recognising they have no technical ability to protect the ball, control the ball, and give a controlled measured accurate pass with confidence to the feet of a team player.

Good luck to Tom Sermanni and the Matildas. I’m more excited about this then the Blues beating the Maroons.. Go you good things, Matildas.

Aussies expect tough Norway World Cup game

I fear for our boys on this occasion with Versleijen in charge. I agree with Fozz he has wasted our time at the AIS. This is his last chance to redeem himself (I hope he does for the sake of our guys). The under 17s display was well below par. Not so much for the system we are trying to play, but when you see our kids unable to control the ball, with their first touch as bad as it was—so woeful—you have to ask maybe this job should’ve gone to Tom Sermanni in the first place—who has our Matildas working like top European outfit. I hope Tom puts up his hand for Versleijen job, or Paul Okon to take control sooner rather then later.

Big game coming up on Sunday night 9:30 pm SBS 2 for our gals… Good luck Matildas

German viewers tune in to women

Whoopee, we are here to stay and back in the game for the finals. Our two dutch imports are under 30 with good pedigree—-this is going to inspire the kids at out club to step up and make a real contribution for the title.. Well done Clive and Miron.

Gold Coast United sign classy Dutchman

Thanks for the link Fuss, I had not seen it before I wrote my comment. I can’t blame Les Scheinflug feeling the way he does—-he had been an inspiration at this level and was hard done by the old sokkah admin. I reckon he should be heard and brought back into the fold at some level in the FFA. He has enormous passion for the game.

Questions burn following Joeys Mexico failure

I think we have to compare these kids to what Les Scheinflug did with his group of kids with less resources. “Versleijen’s contract will expire soon” For me that is good news—I don’t want to be too hash on our guys, but analyse what went so terribley wrong. Yes the abandon game may have been the cause of the dismal performance against the Uzbeks at the end result. However, I just would like to say that we should not be making too many excuses and ask why our 17s are not as good as the other 17s in this WC; when this was suppose to be our best prepared group of lads to date. Questions have to be asked—-have we got the right national coach in charge. I think we need to try another manager to get the next generation taking the next step up.

The next manager has to work on technical skill above all, and over the system we play. Because, if there is no technical skill, how on earth can we play this 4-3-3 attacking system. Let’s get the basics right first. Clearly our basic ball skills were lacking and after 2 years of hard work one would have expected that our players would know how to protect the ball, pass the ball, and above all control the ball at their feet. These kids may only be 17 yrs old but they are playing kids that are also the same age with better ball skills that’s what we need to fix—-the ball playing skills.

Questions burn following Joeys Mexico failure

Yes Ben, I just checked some other results; Japan beat the ALL Whites 7-0

Joeys out of World Cup

Very disappointing and let’s remember the Uzbek’s were beaten by the ALL WHITES 4-1 in their first game. Something does not add up here. But what is very apparent that after 2 years, the individual skills of each Australian boy’s technique was the worst of all four teams we played. The system we play is far less important then the ball control and technique we teach them. Les Scheinflug’s teams played with more individual skill and maturity then this lot. I’m so sorry to have to say that.
