Canberra are clueless in attack. Same six players to the left, same six players to the right.
No extra players drift to the attack side to create an overlap and outnumber the defence. This is a Paul McGregor-level lack of creativity.

Jack Wighton is a freak of an athlete but, as already acknowledged by his next team, he’s no 5/8 and all Fogerty has, is a bomb or a grubber. When it comes to line breaks; if Rapana doesn’t, then no one does.

I’m stunned that a team coached by one of the great halves can’t teach his side to create an overlap???? Most tries this season have been scored more due to good luck than good management.

Whoever the attack coach is, he’s employed on false pretences….. and yes, there’s a couple or three players who are past there best.

ANALYSIS: Alarm bells for Ricky Stuart as Canberra cop beating from Newcastle - despite another Ponga HIA scare

If Canberra didn’t miss 5 one-on-one tackles the score would have been 30-nil. The Raiders were by far the better side building pressure and gaining more territory while Redcliffe.

'P-ssed off' Ricky fires up over teary Wighton's exit as Raiders avoid Dolphins deja vu with field goal win

Happy to see his 3 or 4 back-breaking mistakes per game leaving Canberra.

Joining Souths to play the position he is best suited and outside Walker their backline will be lethal.

Wighton's contract call after tug-of-war between Raiders, Rabbitohs and Dolphins sparks complaint to NRL

The absence of Jack Wighton and his customary 3 or 4 back-breaking mistakes per game clearly helped the Raiders.

He’s a great athlete and maintains boundless enthusiasm for 80 minutes each week but Wighton should be playing at centre with halves creating the opportunities for him to exploit.

Spot on Joe. The echo chamber of channel 9 means no one challenges Gould and his ancient views on this subject.

It would be great to watch Gus actually in an interview with a concussion expert….

A measured discussion about an important issue in NRL? Ha! Let's just scream about concussion!

Brad Fittler’s selection woes were revealed before this season.

Game 3 in 2021 when NSW held a 2-0 lead, Cleary and Luai were unavailable and instead of picking the South Sydney pair of Reynolds and Walker (both with previous Origin experience, leading a Bunnies side in the top 8 to the GF and having played plenty of games as a combination) opted for a Wighton / Moses pairing. Neither of who had ever played together, and in the case of Wighton, is not a tactical half and Moses was debuting at Origin level.

To this day I cannot understand his logic and thank goodness it wasn’t a deciding game.

We could even go back to his time as the Roosters coach when Fittler selected Braith Anasta at fullback?!?!

Personally I think Fittler suffers from misplaced faith and an over-estimation in the ability of his players which should see the selection duties of the coach removed for his own good.

Fittler also suffered because Turbo and Latrell were unavailable. Had they been there in in Game 1, the Suncorp match would have been a dead-rubber.

Unsteady Freddy: Head-scratching decisions cast doubt on Fittler's suitability as Blues coach

Hi Raiders Fan Here.

The game was not lost because of Matt Lodge.

It was lost because Rapana had a brain explosion sending a bad (and dumb) pass to his winger instead of taking his medicine a kick return. Rapana was also slack covering a Warriors kick which took a wicked bounce on him.

The other contributing factors to the loss include poor attacking options in prime territory late in the second half when Ricky’s halves disappeared instead of demanding the ball. There was practically no depth in attack as Canberra vaguely assaulted the opposition line.

The fault of the loss lies with the Canberra players and coaching staff well before any blame can be shifted to Matt Lodge.

‘Bunker damaging our game’: Stuart calls on NRL to strip video reviews back to contentious tries only

Should have been Reynolds & Walker.

Walker would have unleashed Latrell and Turbo on either side of the field resulting in a Blues victory by 18+.

Freddie’s loyalty is endearing but unfortunate on this occasion.

'Basically non-existent': Moses and Wighton produce disastrous display

Continue sending players to the bin for 10 minutes but if the opposition scores they come back on to the field.

And can we stop calling them “Professional Fouls”???
It’s cheating. Call it what it is.

How can we stop all the floggings we have created?

How surprising? The Australian arguing Super Rugby leaving Foxtel was a bad decision??????

I’m stunned.

Nothing written in The Australian should be accepted as truth….. I wouldn’t even trust the page numbers.

A blueprint for a second division in the NRL

Interesting comments from Robinson given JWH’s tendency for high shots.

Is the NRL finally starting to 'get it' by punishing high shots?

Just another Foxtel hatchet job **yawn**

Mascord takes swipes at rugby every chance he has. After saying league is the only game of running, tackling, passing and scoring here he offers a righteous element to the only game he loves:

“Then I bought into the class struggle of the late 19th century, the oppression of various authorities – including rugby union – around the world and the fact that outside the area I grew up, league was the underdog.”

Outrage over new rules for junior rugby league players

Mascord does another hit-piece on union? Must be a slow news week.

Someone on this site, or similar, once wrote “enjoying another sport is not like cheating on your wife”.

There are plenty of adults in the world capable of enjoying league, union, NFL, basketball, soccer and numerous other sports. They’re not betraying anyone they’re just enjoying a contest, enjoying the highs and lows of elite sport, enjoying athletic endeavor.

If you can only get your head around one sport that’s fine but I don’t get why you have to run another down to make yours feel superior?

Outrage over new rules for junior rugby league players

I agree with everything in this piece.

Mitchell should watch the replay of this game and retire from rep football with dignity.

Why Origin 3 wasn’t Mitchell Pearce’s redemption

Love it!!

Necessary expansion: Why Manly should be sent to Perth

I’ve seen this movie before…… Raiders will let in 2 easy tries then a couple more after handing the momentum to the visitors and the Roosters will hang on for a 4 point victory.

Being a Canberra fan is equally predictable and disappointing.

All Griffin had to do was keep his mouth shut and say “the jobs in the past, I’m looking for new opportunities.” Why would he want to take on a man with as much power in the NRL universe as you say?

Gould defended Griffin at the beginning of the week then had no alternative but to respond after Griffin’s interview on Fox.

The happiest people throughout this episode are the many Gould haters. Wouldn’t matter what Gould does, haters are gonna hate.

Gould again slams 'embarrassing' Griffin

Thoroughly agree Daniel.

The hatred for referees by players and coaches is pathological and given the current collection of commentators are ALL former coaches and players their negative attitude towards officials has spread like a disease to the viewing public.

During State of Origin 3, David Klemmer attempts a trip near the Maroons line which costs NSW a momentum-swinging try and what was heard after the game? Nothing. But a linesman in a Cronulla/Canberra game accidentally puts his flag up, the Sharks score a try and there’s two weeks of wall-to-wall media coverage. The imbalance is appalling.

Broadcasters on all formats would do the game a great service by employing actual journalists to challenge NRL coaches when they attempt to shift focus from their players shortcomings by complaining about referee decisions. No, they won’t do it because major media companies like easy targets and referees are the easiest target in the NRL.

It's time to fix our sporting culture and give the referees some love

Nailed it Paul.
