Clubs win Premierships....not players nor coaches alone. 1PAFC

I felt genuinely sorry for the Lad last year when they missed a few that were there after his comments….
But of the package I saw from the weekend, and even in the photo in this article, he didn’t deserve any because he was still drawing the contact high….I mean he was forcefully tucking the tacklers arm under his chin, it looks ridiculous and obvious…..look at the pic, is he protecting the ball with his free hand? no Is he looking for an option and preparing to deliver the footy? no Is he trying to burst through the tackle, keep his feet? no….there’s not many options left….

Oh and quoting David King as evidence to your argument actually does the opposite….the guys a spud…

Umpires' anti-Ginnivan bias has reached a new low - it's time for the AFL to step in

No that’s not the only reason…

Footy Fix: Freo's skipper is BACK - and he's making the Dockers' defence great again

Have not seen stats and dont care for fashionable….just my opinion amd observation from watching freo and that is they look less likely with him playing especially the last year or 2…but i understand your reluctance to write him off particularly with his injuries…i rhink he gets squeezed out when Darcy fit.

Footy Fix: Freo's skipper is BACK - and he's making the Dockers' defence great again

Thanks for mentioning those rolling AA’s Don I was about to have a thinly veiled crack at Tim for talking down others’ opinions of Pearce to make it look like he found the diamond in the rough! Fact is he is Captain of decent club, was 2nd best on ground in multiple articles, heralded for his “excellent” start to the year and if Gerald Healy is talking him up imagine what people who actual know footy are saying!
But surely even you wouldn’t have picked Pearce over Taylor last week? Yes Pearce’s direct opponent was a better player but…..c’mon
And on the other comment there Don….I’m sorry but as soon as Tabs is included…. goalscoring looks limited, Freo look a lot better without him

Footy Fix: Freo's skipper is BACK - and he's making the Dockers' defence great again

I was being generous

Footy Fix: They're still a work in progress - but 'Northball' will make electric Roos the AFL's most exciting team

The kids certainly go alright and Clarko is a maestro….
Enjoy the “Northball” why you can Tim , there’s a strong rumour going around AFL circles that they will be looking to relegate the least financial Melb club once Tassie come in to maintain an 18 team comp.

There’s a half dozen lads I wouldn’t mind at Port if we can get high picks in the Northballers mini draft!

Footy Fix: They're still a work in progress - but 'Northball' will make electric Roos the AFL's most exciting team

Agree with a lot of your comments here Bushy….
Fair to say CA and cricket Vic have the ability to not select any one they want…. even if fully fit!
I don’t think winning games of cricket is worth putting this kids future at risk….and if there wasn’t this false hope of a “career” out of it he may more easily walk away….I mean even if he never plays again he can be proud of his achievements on field
Sometimes we get caught up in “potential” and assume it will be 10 more years of this and that….but maybe this was meant to his ceiling, maybe this was meant to be what he showed us, his purpose…..
People know your name Lad, will want to interview you, maybe pay you for them…..hang up the boots Will, while you can still string a sentence together to answer them.
All the best

Will Pucovski has given Australian sport its first major concussion test case

“ahead of the curve”….interesting way of admitting you were wrong Tim…haha

AFL Oracle: They just missed the eight last year - but can any of these teams turn it around in 2024?

Who ever writes this…..well rubbish…can’t even put their name to it!

Black Caps dare to dream of epic comeback win after Australia's brittle batting exposed by part-time spinner

I’m still not a big fan of Jez but I have to agree here Maxy…and Jones is a good fit for those small forwards, I use to be all in on DBJ for the role but he has become so good as a defensive small forward its hard to move him!

I think our defense was, at times, a victim of poor structure………the amount of times the ball was easily taken from our F50 to scoring range is what cost me TV screens!
Having more height and size down there will only slow down uncertain teams, unless we improve the defensive element further up the ground we will expose them still …..and if we continue to stand “off the mark” I will def have to up my insurance!!

AFL pre-season notebook: Kane Cornes hits new low with response to Bomber blow, 'basic' Dockers have work to do

Spot on Maxy…I think I’d be happy for 12/13 from Dixon and another 10 or so into Lord….but this time we time it so Dixon is fit and firing into Sept!

Backline is looking ok….all our talls need to either handball to Farrel/Houston/anybody or go long down the line!! And one of them, preferably Rat, needs to settle into a traditional FB role and prep for the big gun forwards (there’s too many to list but we know who they are!)

Monster bump ban confirmed for Port forward - and won't include pre-season match - as Power cry 'scapegoat'

Lord will take the Dixon mantle I hope

Monster bump ban confirmed for Port forward - and won't include pre-season match - as Power cry 'scapegoat'

Will be interesting Maxy, with Georgy back, how we line up….I think
Georgi, Dixon, Rioli
JHF, Marshall, DBJ
Georgi in sends Finlayson to the bench (makes it easier to 2nd ruck also)
DBJ because I think he is our #1 defensive forward, those running half backs are game winners now days…
JHF/Butters/Rozee because they are too good to rest on the pine all the time….I haven’t tried picking a side this year but I do like McEntee and Mead for that matter….
Wines has to be in the middle…..Butters and Rozee are good but when the finals roll around they just don’t have the size to do it all against mature midfields
Decent preseason so far Max….been impressed so far with Mead, Dante and Scully (outside of the usual suspects)

Monster bump ban confirmed for Port forward - and won't include pre-season match - as Power cry 'scapegoat'

Port didn’t cry “scapegoat” at all….the lawyer threw it out there and Ken went on record as not liking it, so sick of these hyperbolic headlines

Monster bump ban confirmed for Port forward - and won't include pre-season match - as Power cry 'scapegoat'

Clearly there should be some situational awareness….that ball may have taken the outside edge of a Root forward defense for all we know but the odds are way less likely (and we would have been praising the delivery instead anyway!)
Root can play a long game loses his wicket like that and then Stokes has to play within himself….and he should be the one with the freedom to throw his wicket away at any given moment!

Poms defend Root amid furious reaction to 'stupidest shot in England Test cricket history' as Bazball under fire again

I’m only interested in the Test side of things…..

On Warner- his departure was hardly drawn out, the exact date was well known for some time…his replacement was a Suprise..
On Green- his technique and temperament is classic #4 (even if, in your opinion, his first 3 innings there doesn’t suggest it…3! thats right just 3…and his third demonstrated he belongs there!)….I have no idea why you would assume nothing but modest scores from him there?

This side is in need of an overhaul with most closer to the end of a fine career then the start….Player of Greens ability and continued exposure will be paramount to that transition being a smooth one…

Australian cricket summer summary: A successful but not great season as bigger challenges await

The spirit of cricket doesn’t supersede the rules!
Mankadding is fair play IMO….like picking off a base runner, we should be celebrating a bowler that can pull it off!

How many modes of dismissal are there? Too many - the precious ‘spirit of cricket’ tarnished by outdated, unnecessary laws

I remember a ton of tears from different parties but I actually don’t remember Bairstow himself “complaining bitterly”? Is it my poor memory or just enough roar beat up?

I don’t mind a bit of aggression on the field either….Ashwin got in his face Bairstow gave him a quick shot, move on…

Stokes on the other habd…..sucked in!! (and I only say that with a fair amount of respect for his talent and leadership!)

Bazbawl: Bairstow barks back in fiery exchange with Ashwin, Stokes commits schoolboy error as India sink England

Don’s right, you shouldn’t need to make snide comments in a desperate attempt to run with the mob and feel popular…….just make sports comments, apparently you’re an “expert”….stick to that

Green makes most of promotion but questions remain over best spot as Bartlett's burst propels Aussies to victory

It’s time to blood youth and their inconsistencies and Green fits the bill right now (with a record that I think is worth persevering with anyway) and there will be others in the not-too-distant future that will give all the wanna be selectors fodder for …..well a different opinion to those paid and trusted to make the calls

Test Mortem: Green’s golden status fading as batting unit becomes fragile, Windies need help to kick on from Gabba glory

Pretty obvious to that the selectors have asked, and answered, those questions hence Smith opening and Green at 4!….they may have also decided that getting games into Green at four will have longer term benefit even if a specialist opener and Smith at 4 was potentially worth another 10 team runs right now…
A changing of the guard is coming…the reason some of our best, think punter, S Waugh even Border were so good (aside from raw talent) is they were given time to fail and learn in the side….
Time to risk a few W’s blooding youth..

Test Mortem: Green’s golden status fading as batting unit becomes fragile, Windies need help to kick on from Gabba glory

They are the facts I’m referring to amongst others…
I think we are on the same page Barb

Cricket can’t solve Australia Day conundrum - it’s not up to sports to make tough decisions for governments

I just stopped to think about it and it didnt change my opinion at all….why? Because its a hyperthetical and i prefer to base my opinions on fact and current circumstances…
But we should def keep wheels, nails and compasses..

Cricket can’t solve Australia Day conundrum - it’s not up to sports to make tough decisions for governments

Pretty sure all here commenting are proud Aussies……and when the date is changed you will still be free to celebrate on the 26th…

Cricket can’t solve Australia Day conundrum - it’s not up to sports to make tough decisions for governments

Your point is spot on….and why the discussion is so important and why change should be inevitable (I’m a jock so to what is not my call!!)
It’s not a change to upset the “traditionalist” but so, as you say, we can all celebrate together….
