Ashes Scout: Ponting backs 'staggering' Boland call, England legends bay for blood, left-field batting option emerges

Billings average 34 from 74 FC games. So yeah, bring him in England.

Ashes Scout: Ponting backs 'staggering' Boland call, England legends bay for blood, left-field batting option emerges

Alistair Cook scored 165 in county cricket back in Sept. 37 years old. SOS to Cook to fly over and help his team out over the next two years I say.

You are also falling for that narrative of putting all Aussie cricket lovers into the boorish category of skipping over failures to put the foot on the Englishmen. Generalisations don’t work. Among my group of cricket lovers, we all know India are the team at the moment. We lost twice at home and whilst we had our opportunities to win last year, we didn’t. And this English team can’t bat so no problems in enjoying the victories, but this doesn’t mean many followers think we are the best or forget the failures. The subcontinent is ahead of us also….. Would like to see how we fair against NZ in NZ also.

Do we really want to see England in despair and humiliated? The answer might surprise you

Not too sure as the pitches have played a large part. But I have been happy with the two pitches so far and the ball seems to be doing a little for longer. Enough to keep bowlers interested and batsmen can score if they are of the ilk to get them.

Joe looks rooted and England has a shocking leadership vacuum - is Ben Stokes really the only answer?

I believe Stokes would be an excellent captain. May impact him as an all rounder but can’t do worse than Roots very uninspiring captaincy. No questioning Root as a batsmen, but Root has form in not getting much out of the team and young guys.

I noticed this also. Wonder if there is turmoil behind the scenes between Root and his bowlers?

Nah I will keep the kookaburra. This is why we have a good production line of bowlers.

They will struggle to build anything while county cricket serves up mushy meat pie bowler friendly wickets. The minute the pitch is tough, their bowlers are found wanting.

Whilst out of form, at least Burns last summer had test centuries to his name. Harris has many failures. The more I read the comments and post a response, the more I want Harris gone so we can either bring Ussie in for the rest of the series or even blood a Street/Hunt.

George Bailey’s tough decision and other thoughts from the second Test

Good word there. tolerance. After Pucovski got hit in the head again, I was 52/48 in favour of ussie over harris before the first test, but for the rest of the series I am 100/0 ussie. I honestly don’t have any friends that would retain harris for the rest of the series. So what is Bailey going to do. My mind says retain Harris.

George Bailey’s tough decision and other thoughts from the second Test

How many games does he need to shine tho. He has had a few.

George Bailey’s tough decision and other thoughts from the second Test

Whatever did Ussie do wrong and Harris do right? Looking at their stats, they have been very generous with Harris and quick to trash Ussie the minute they head overseas and it is time to do the replacement. I really hope Pucovski can get some time in the middle in the new year.

Maybe that was at Roots request? Who knows. Just an observation I made but may have been off the mark.

FLEM'S VERDICT: Selection battle 'put to bed,' Starc's new challenge and England's 'insane' blunder

I have noticed that Warne and Hussey have an irritating ability to continually repeat the same things as a commentator. Lyon needs to bowl outside off, where is sill mid off etc etc. Warne seems to be acceptable when i have watched England play in England, but bring him to Oz and he is quite poor.

FLEM'S VERDICT: Selection battle 'put to bed,' Starc's new challenge and England's 'insane' blunder

Did I notice something or am I conjuring up fantasy in seeing that morning that Root was having his potatoes baked by the doctors and Stoke was captain, the Poms bowled fuller and had Aus in a little bit of trouble. When Root came back out with mashed potatoes to resume captaincy, then it fell pair shaped again and bowlers were too short? Maybe a minor revolt of his captaincy and Stokes would be the better option? Whilst Root is world class as a batsmen, maybe he should just focus on that?

FLEM'S VERDICT: Selection battle 'put to bed,' Starc's new challenge and England's 'insane' blunder

Didn’t look too bad those offies either.

DAY 5 REPORT: Rampant Aussies polish off outclassed Poms to take Ashes series stranglehold

They were not fatal as the POMS didn’t take the opportunities.

DAY 5 REPORT: Rampant Aussies polish off outclassed Poms to take Ashes series stranglehold

Criminal? Really. Incorrect maybe but not by any massive margins.

DAY 5 REPORT: Rampant Aussies polish off outclassed Poms to take Ashes series stranglehold

Disagree with dropping him to 7. Panic stations is it, POM style. Give him a few years and lets review when he is 24. So much talent and we are winning and h is contributing so no change. Is this article about filling in space on the website prior to x-mas?

Australia should bat Green at seven to help ease him into Test arena

Foakes bats as well and keeps better than butler in test matches, It seems butlers batting abilities on flat decks in the short form gets him the test match gig. English selectors need to look at their teams results and realise they should be sacked. I will admit, the batters they have cycled through have failed dismally leading to a teams of quality bowlers and 1 bat.

FLEM'S VERDICT: 'Five years ago he'd be stressed' - Warner's big mentality shift, England's selection self destruction

Certainly less than ideal, but for every argument there is a counter argument here. Both teams preparation less than ideal. I would concede Englands a tad worse but half the aussie team had been playing in desertville and t20 cricket.

Ashes Scout: Vaughan blasts Poms, Archer thought he'd killed Smith, Maxwell eyes Test recall

This is must win for England. Woods has the fear factor. Bowl him to win this game and level the series. If he breaks down then fine, at least it is 1-1 and all to play for.

Why axing Wood spells England's Ashes end

Woakes is world class in England, but to be fair, he doesn’t seem the same bowler overseas. Has to be mental as he has bowled some nice balls, just a tad short in this series. His stats overseas are disappointing.

Why axing Wood spells England's Ashes end

Completely agree Tempo
