Great article Josh. In my simple termed opinion, the Saints lack a quality midfield brigade. Steven had a down year, which exposed a gaping hole in the consistency and ability of their on-ballers. No matter how committed and serviceable they are, you can’t see the Saints middle tier helping the club deliver a flag. I feel the Saints need a big name recruit to spark their list and give it some A-grade quality.
Slower than we expected, but the Saints will get there

I think an interesting point to make as well is the fact that the Pies have never had to hunt for a senior coach. Apart from McGuire not wanting to admit defeat, it may also come down to the Pies lack of experience in recruiting a senior coach.
Collingwood’s self-made apocalypse marches on proudly
I remember that being a very touchy subject at the time over in Perth @Rissole!
AFL All Australia snubs: Who was unlucky to miss out?
I think Selwood deserved his spot. He had a fantastic year and as we saw with Josh Kennedy, if you miss five games you can still make the side!
AFL All Australia snubs: Who was unlucky to miss out?
Personally I think Yeo deserved a spot in the side too. Seems Howe was just one of those unlucky players who could’ve easily been in, but they just couldn’t make room for him!
AFL All Australia snubs: Who was unlucky to miss out?
I can see where you’re coming from, but I can’t see the Dogs beating the Hawks (even after Hawks bad loss to the Blues last week). In any case, I can’t see either West Coast or the Saints getting a sniff either. It would be a miracle for Freo to knock off the Dons in Melbourne.
Round 23 AFL action: Four things to look ahead to
Thanks @truetigerfan! I feel sorry for the Pies supporters that they have to miss another finals campaign (2013 seems a long time ago now!) but I certainly agree with you about the whole Buckley saga. It needs to end sooner rather than later!
Round 23 AFL action: Four things to look ahead to
No sure about that @Another Paul. Essendon are in the box seat for eighth, while Melbourne should finish up in seventh spot.

Sounds interesting @Col from Brissie, I’ve barely heard it get a mention before! I will look into it further for sure!
Remembering Subi: The top five interstate victories at Subiaco Oval
Don’t agree with the biased hometown umpiring call @Carltonian. The umpires for that game were Chamberlain, Stevic and Rosebury. Chamberlain is from the ACT and Stevic from Victoria. Rosebury is from Perth, but is one of the most respected and well qualified umpires in the game!
Remembering Subi: The top five interstate victories at Subiaco Oval
That win in 2015 was a major factor in Hawthorn winning the 2015 Grand Final for me. They got everything right in that game against one of the most hostile atmospheres I’ve ever seen.
The only reason I went for the ’07 semi-final as my number one was the fact that it was the only second time in history that extra time was needed. Away from home against the reigning premiers, the Pies ran riot in phenomenal fashion. I know the Eagles were missing Judd and Cousins, but they still had 15 premiership players from ’06 playing. It truly was a game that had everything!

Great article Conor. Although as an Eagles fan, I have to say that I’d be happy if the club took Nic Naitanui with the second pick again!
A reorder of the 2008 AFL draft
That’s the question plaguing me Mattyb. It’s unknown how the Tigers will fare in a massive finals game.
Over to you Richmond: Finals destiny is in your hands
Straight sets would be a nightmare for Richmond supporters!
Over to you Richmond: Finals destiny is in your hands
Agree with you Blake in that the Tigers are a top four team. They could’ve been top two if they’d won those close games against the Bulldogs, Dockers and Giants!
Over to you Richmond: Finals destiny is in your hands
Not convinced the Eagles will trade Masten J.Roger. Although his season has been poor, I think the Eagles will see that he still adds depth to their midfield. Plus he has a contract until 2019.
Relax Eagles fans, Adam Simpson is the man for the job
Agree 100% with you Baz, Naitanui’s absence has been a massive loss for the Eagles this season.
Relax Eagles fans, Adam Simpson is the man for the job
It’s a weak draft year @gameofmarks. I don’t think the Eagles would entertain the idea of trading someone like Gaff.
