Well done Geoff
Not sure I agree on the Parra issue, but I have not dissected it as often as some. And Rougerie, Harinodoquy and Rougerie were excellent and immense. However, I cannot condone the actions on McCaw by Rougerie.

In all a great final, great tension, great passion from the anthems through haka through match.
If that is the final of 2011 RWC, we have a match to remember.

Well done ABs and French, and commiserations that there was a loser, but I am glad ABs got over the line.

Look back to Auckland and the magic of being there

Agree on many counts Kerry
Its why I do not watch League any more in this country – Gould is terrible, and the buffoons that make the 9s League Show. And so is Kearns, over opinionated and always giving a biased view of proceedings.
Unfortunately some Fox Rugby commentators take on the buffoon mantra during tests and in The Rugby Club – whilst funny at times, it does get tiresome.

As does the constant negativity – hatred – frenzy on this site.

We slag off the kiwis for not winning the RWC for 24 years, and then can’t be gracious enough to accept that the best team in the world has won – what is that? We slag off McCaw – but would have him in our side in a heartbeat – ???

Sorry, I have my opinions – but I hope they are not that bad that I can’t as Gallouis stated ‘Respect’ someone elses opinion and their national team – even if we get beaten, or dudded.

Perspective – its rugby, and we all love it – doesn’t mean we to agree, but some balance would be fine.

Except John Snow in the 70s and Douglas Jardine during the Bodyline series

Both of whom were ankle kicked and dead legged by a group of U7 union boys from KIngs College, whilst visiting local rugby carnivals during tours to Australia

It’s been over the top for awhile, and very tiresome.
We are all opinionated – but lacking any balance or perspective on some issues is just frustrating.

The french were outstanding on the night. Dusautoir was immense, as was Harinordoquy, and Rougerie.
Unfortunately, the constant moaning about Joubert is typical where 2 sides play well and one lose – it was not Joubert’s fault … France did not take their opportunities.
The french were excellent – addressing the haka, playing wonderful rugby and putting immense pressure on the ABs, but at the critical part of the match – in the last 10 minutes, ABs were clinical and french played negatively – expecting an indiscretion to win the match kicking.
Your team were excellent. I doubt anyone doubts that, or believes otherwise, they made the second part of a great final.

However, the bleating about Parra is unwarranted, look in real time – not slow motion, he was cleaened out, not intentionally kneed as some choose to believe. This dilutes the achievements of your team.
And Rougerie – sorry, I thought he was immense and viewing the actions on McCaw – were a disgrace.

My thoughts, its a shame we can’t enjoy the spectacle of two great rugby nations playing a great match. France were excellent, ABs were very good and in my opinion deserving champions.

It is a shame that incidents in the match at match speed are dissected in slow motion.
It is a shame that the thing that most people enjoy about AB WB matches – the haka and ensuing battle suddenly draws crabs and unnecessary distraction.
It is a shame that the ABs win cannot be celebrated by some non kiwis; as it is a shame that McCaw cannot be accepted as an asset to the game who plays a tough position – hard.
And it is a shame that even when we get good rugby played, we can’t be decent enough to accept that one side will win and one will lose – and it’s not always someones fault.

If one thing disappoints me about this site, it is the imbalance of articles. Why do redneck articles get rabid reaction?
Because we are all opinionated – it’s a shame we can’t add some objectivity and balance to that space in our love for ourt team, our players, and the running game.

After All Blacks win, time to look at Wallabies

1. The issue with this RWC is that we saw glimpses of brilliance before – which were quashed by the performance against Ireland, and our inability or lack of willingness post that match to use our backline to its potential.
2. A regular Forwards academy is a great idea, but it has to be done off season, or pre season. Imagine the furore if we lost one of our best props during a Wallaby Forwards camp.
5. I think Samo didn’t deliver, he worked well in open matches against average opposition, he was not dominant against strong opposition.
I agree with your code of conduct for the T5 = a, b and c – and if you can’t play 80 minutes at that level, get fitter (Maafu) or get out.
6. JOC Ioane I agree whole heartedly.
7. How do we provide a framework that develops improved aggression in all levels of rugby – short of sending all of our promising players to NZ on exchange?

The International Rubbish Board get it wrong again

As above
KPM – Sorry, we disagree on this obviously and McCaw as a player.
But a question – how can you get low body height into a ruck? Bend from the waist? Bend the knees? Momentum?
Cmon this is really irrelevant – at game pace, going into contact and fighting for the ball … all skills we expect every flanker to possess … and you show this clip as proof of him intentionally cheating? Cmon – you could post 100 instances like this in a game (maybe 10 from our flankers) …
Its called a contact sport. I just don’t get how you can’t actually acknowledge the guy is a good rugby player and a sportsman.

There is a reason we have referees. McCaw is not penalised as often as some would like …
George Smith was penalised more than he wanted at the end of his career, as are most
Poidevin played his last year as a dinosaur – adapting to rules that were targeted against the style of rugby he excelled at.

Its how it is … he is a very good player.

76:06 McCaw on right side of ruck, Rougerie attacks Read and Hore. Watch Dousautoir. I have watched it many times, and initially had my doubts.
Rougerie is not the culprit, however you can see Dousautoir’s right arm near the ball and McCaw.

The guy was committing to the breakdown. Where should his knee go? Deliberate – no way, Cooper’s knee – damn straight bordering on pre meditated.
Every good flanker gets the usual stuff about cheating – McCaw, Smith, Pocock, Poidevin … Let the ref make the decisions.

I think very few people would objectively agree with you on this. Some of this is just drivel.

The guy is a great sportsman – if he was a wallaby we would be defending him to the hilt
Give the guys his dues, he is an asset to the game.

Richie McCaw: a tribute for a true gentleman

Appreciate the cultural significance of the haka, however I believe that teams should be able to respond, even if that means advancing or imposing themselves within 10m of the challlenge.
And I thought the french response was oustanding

Right and proper end to 2011 Rugby World Cup

Ioane is probably is our best chance at 13 as the team stands today with experience and maturity.
I was dead against it before the RWC, but he is such a powerful runner and with two playmakers inside – QC Barnes or Barnes JOC he would be very influential.

And I think he is the most Larkham like player I have seen in 10 years for the Wallabies.
Either way he has to come inside.

Mike
Line breaking centres, tight five who compete, contesting 50/50 ball, following through on kicks, and a fearless running game.
And excellent performances for Dusautoir and Rougerie

'We can rest in peace', says RWC-winning coach, Graham Henry

AAC is well past his best, probably played one good match all year for Wallabies, and not many for the Brumbies.
Agree on McCabe, I love his commitment and heart – but even his strength in attack – solid running, happens at a cost, he is so upright he easily gets held up or pinned … 2 penalties in each final, just not good enough.
Faiinga, love his enthusiasm and defence, but again too immature for a side that has young backs inside him. He was easily found wanting in the semi by Nonu and Smith.

JOC is too good for the wing in this side, it’s a motivation thing.
I think he finds it hard getting fired up for a position where the best chance of getting the ball is the oppositon kicking it to you …

O'Connor eyes Wallabies midfield role

ABs are deserving Bazza
Dont’ get suckered by the cheap shots …
It was good to see the best on the podium get the recognition and trophy for those who went before them and couldn’t close the deal

Winning ugly never felt so good

KPM
Cooper needs Barnes.
JOC needs to play inside – he is a great runner and has vision, as well as having a great defensive game for a young slight player.
If he can play 12, he can play 13 outside someone with a good tactical rugby brain.

I think AAC is close to done, Faiinga and McCabe and bench warmers until they get more time under their belt, and Horne needs to recovery fullly and play a full season of S15. I rate him, but he needs to get a solid season of rugby under his belt.

It is a shame we are missing a young Gerrard or Mortlock, but we will have to develop our own.

I hope we never see JOC on the wing again, that is such a waste …
