He’s telling the players the right things, I hope they’re buying the message and not believing the hype.

Also great news about AAA and Ikitau. Fingers crossed they stay healthy all the way through the rest of the season and through the internationals.

'Doesn't count for anything': Bernie gets serious with Brumbies as race for top two finish heats up

What a ridiculous comment. This isn’t changing the coaches, this is appointing a coach to a vacancy.

If you can’t be bothered to post on topic or coherently, why do you bother posting at all?

CONFIRMED: Wallabies land final piece of coaching puzzle as ex-Lion signs on ahead of showpiece event

When I complained about the Rebels’ line out woes earlier this season it was pointed out to me that last year the Rebels were among the best line outs. This despite having Uelese at hooker doing his interpretation of Charlie Sheen’s character from the movie Major League (“Wild Thing”). You have to credit a lot of that to the coaching.

CONFIRMED: Wallabies land final piece of coaching puzzle as ex-Lion signs on ahead of showpiece event

Yes, our backline should be:

9. Edmed
10. Lolesio
11. HMP
12. Gordon
13. Donaldson
14. Lynagh
15. Harrison

Enough of realistic expectations, let's get excited about future Wallabies

Then you end up with a broken Lynagh. He’s not mature enough physically to play a full season at 10 in Super Rugby. We saw what happened to Jorgensen last season. Played a handful of matches and broke down twice.

There just aren’t any journeymen 10 in their mid to late 20s hanging around. Jack D chose the Brumbies and then the cupboard was bare.

Five things: Lesson Aussie rugby can learn from Kiwis - and why next month will determine whether SR gap has closed

That’s possible but the Chiefs match was their only good match so far, the Chiefs are not going great guns and the Rebels are going much better than the Waratahs. The Crusaders are far lower on the ladder than the Rebels so I don’t think I’m too far out on the limb.

The main reason for wanting Gordon to play 12, when it comes down to it, is that he’s a dodgy goal kicker. That’s not a reason to play him in an unfamiliar position.

He’s big for a 10 but small for a 12. Doesn’t know the position. Throws the balance of the backline out.

Let’s pick 10s at 10, 12s at 12.

Yeah, I wasn’t clear in my post.

I think that Kiss is sacrificing cohesion for development. It’s a concious choice. He won’t be happy with the losses, but I suspect he’d planned for a couple of them. It’s the fan’s expectations that are racing ahead.

The 3rd tier is so vital to these young guys.

One of the things that I wasn’t looking for, but that stood out, was during the Tah’s match HJH and Thompson-Stringer operated as a team. One would take the ball into contact and the other would be no more than a metre away, ready to secure some LQB. I don’t recall seeing that set up before , though I admit I could easily have missed it, but they did it over and over again on Friday.

Thompson-Stringer also managed to keep the ball away from 4 defenders when isolated near the tryline. His experience in the north is invaluable and I hope it rubs off on the rest of the team. A really good acquisition that Coleman needs to be given a lot of credit for.

Was it intentional to leave out both Lolesio and Ikitau completely?

Five things: Lesson Aussie rugby can learn from Kiwis - and why next month will determine whether SR gap has closed

The reason for chopping and changing, and indeed the reason that Creighton keeps getting the bench spot, is that both Lynagh and HMP are too young to a playing SR week in and week out. Their bodies are ready for it, their brains still learning. They get a match to play and then a week to recover. Creighton gets the bench because he’s a bit older and more resilient, while also playing fewer minutes.

Taking the lesson of Aumua, Swinton and Hanigan, we have to give them time to develop into the classy players that they’re going to be. I suspect that Kiss never had top 4 expectations for the team and it’s only the wins they got at the start of the season that built the hype train.

The Rebels would have to start slight favourites against the Crusaders, even with it being in Christchurch. The Blues are a very similar team but slightly more cohesive and developed as a team. The Rebels being at home should give them the confidence to compete and it could be a season defining game for them.

If they beat both of those then they’re going to go into the Reds match as favourites, and be confident of going toe to toe with the Chiefs and Brumbies. If they lose to the Saders and the Blues then they’re on track to limp into the finals in 7th or 8th and get knocked out early.

The fend started on the chest and rode up to the neck only when the gap between the players closed. This happens often and is a low risk of danger. There’s nothing intentional about it.

As for Mcreight’s tackle, you need to look again. He aimed for the head, cocked his shoulder, dropped his arm and hit the head directly.

'Brain explosion': Wallaby stars sent off as Queensland left red-faced in Moana Pasifika shocker

It’s truly amazing how many people instantly think that a professional player is “checked out” or “not trying” instead of seeing the obvious. The Tah’s backline isn’t working and the opportunities for him are few and far between. He’s trying, probably too hard, but the spaces are too small, the spacing and timing with the team mates isn’t there.

Justice takes time, especially when it’s the first case of its kind. Getting the right people aligned takes effort, then you have due process.

Brisbane rugby fan convicted for 'vile and toxic' online abuse of TMO during RWC, as WR goes troll hunting

I have some reservations about anyone that gets drunk and posts vile, abusive stuff like this being around children. This type of conviction will surely affect his Working With Children certification.

I also have severe issues with the “but he’s a good person” defense being published in the media. You don’t get a free pass from vile acts regardless of how else you behave. We see it too often and it undercuts the severity of the offences committed.

What a disgusting comment.

'Went straight through us': Blues put 50 on Force as scrum issues return

The above poster is asking for a Tighthead prop to partner Bell.

The power lock is not yet a first choice pick for the team, let alone the dominant force we need. Time will tell if he develops into the role.

Rugby Australia kicks off review into Waratahs as pressure mounts on Coleman ahead of Brumbies clash

Of the 3 named contenders only Cheika has built enough experience overseas. Gilmore and Grey have no proven success and no overseas experience worth talking about. In some cases the opposite is true. Indeed if the Waratahs coaching setup is failing to perform that must include Gilmore and Whittaker, not just Coleman.
We very clearly saw the quality increase from Thorn to Kiss at the Reds. The Waratahs should be aiming for that kind of increase, as opposed to simple trying to next unproven up and comer.
That said I think that the names aren’t coming from Horne and the consultant, but rather from people outside the process trying to push the barrow of their preferred replacement. I strongly suspect that Horne will disappoint a lot of those people by thinking outside the box (with the box meaning the ex-players with a few years of local experience). He might even run the process without a predetermined outcome.

No idea whose idea it is but that’s copied verbatim from the Waratahs website

Super Rugby teams round 7: Bell returns but Tahs hooker gone for season, Jack back for Brums, Rebels' Leota blow

I was going off the article above vs the listing above.

The article on the SMH about Vailanu playing through the pain has Gleeson missing due to concussion, at least in the text of the article. Where are you seeing differently?

Super Rugby teams round 7: Bell returns but Tahs hooker gone for season, Jack back for Brums, Rebels' Leota blow

You are missing that your solution is complex and everyone is looking for a nice, simple solution. Something like “man up”, “have pride in the jersey” or “discipline is all they need”.

Nevermind that these players play through injury, cry at losing and make big second half comebacks.

Instead we get excellent insights like Shepherd’s “put him in a car” being lauded.

There’s an error in the team listing. Gamble is playing, Gleeson is out.
