Anyone know why Faamausili only played 20mins of the Dogs? Starting prop for the Dogs in a game like this- he only had 2 runs.

Parra start the Carty Party to power past Dogs as 'broken' Foxx trots off with suspected AC joint

Got to start somewhere I guess. As vlandys says it’s a foundation (a small one) and if they do well next year – year on year growth could look really good!

NRL News: Vegas TV ratings barely a blip on US radar, Leniu tightlipped over racism row, Brimson not stoked about switch

Rugby 13s.Already some teams in the US using this. Easy to understand. People get it with cricket (T20, test). So you have rugby 7s, 13s or 15s.

Rugby league needs a new name but what can you call it to stand out in football’s confusingly crowded landscape of codes?

Credit to the Ferns with some great play especially in defence. One of worst Jillaroos performances I’ve seen. Too many chiefs trying to work out a game plan on the field. So many errors!!!!

Fern-tastic! New Zealand punish wasteful Jillaroos to hand Australia first defeat since 2016 after epic boilover

“There has been speculation concerning Addo-Carr’s future at the club” – is there? He fronted club management about the incident and we all move on. At no time was he being shopped around or wanting to leave. I just don’t believe this- “clouded” future

Bulldogs speedster locks in long-term contract extension as Foxx's future looks clouded

My armchair view- they are going for a rabbitohs style “just animal” logo intended to be instantly recognisable and easy to put on stickers, signs etc. I just don’t think logo will get to that status…time will tell

Meh-nly’s new generic logo is yet another example of ill-conceived marketing overruling tradition

Great game of footy, bring on the next game!

ANALYSIS: Upton the girl as Tamika's dream debut delivers Jillaroos past Kiwi Ferns

100% – Tameka is such a complete player, my favourite to watch. Insightful comment on Ali and perhaps having Tameka there will help take some pressure off her. I really enjoyed the NRLW season this year, and looking foward to watching the top players this weekend.

Dylan's debut, Samoa's spine and Upton under pressure: Five big questions ahead of the Pacific Championships

Very lucky to have played that many Origins.

Nat & TB (and the Roar hive mind)- can you recall why Adam Reynolds didn’t get a run at NSW half at this time?
I recall maybe it was something to do with injuries or being held together with tape. But looking at him now- surely a better half than Pearce?

NRL NEWS: Latrell OUT of Kangaroos squad, Holmes mounts white powder defence, Pearce calls time

I’ll be heading out to Hunter Stadium on Saturday for the double header. That Roosters side is so stacked with talent this year – you’d think it was their’s to lose.
Having said that I think Newcastle was in a similar position last year with a very talanted sqaud – many are at other teams now. Go the Knights!

NRLW Round 8: Expansion teams struggling as season reaches pointy end with finals looming

I got my Knights NRLW membership- 5 games – seat in the corner for each game – $119. 4 of those games are double headers with the men. The last couple of games (sold out!) were before the men with the announcers calling it at about 8,000 people. Looking forward to the game this Saturday 2 women’s games back to back.

NRLW Round 7 Preview: Time to get proactive with tickets so more fans can see what all the fuss is about

You either keep up or you go backwards.
I watched the Wallaroos smash Japan 34-5 here in Newcastle in 2019. Millie Boyle, Mahalia Murphy and Grace Hamilton all played that day. All 3 are in the NRLW this season.
New Zealand beat us 50-0 this year and Japan beat us 12-10 last year.
We are hosting the Women’s Rugby World cup in 2029 – 6 years to go, you would think doing well in a home cup would be a priority…a recent example of another womens sport might hint at what’s possible.
I’m not surprised really – when you think back to how popular Rugby was at the Mens’ World Cup held here in 2003 and where it is now.
Missed opportunities could be the new catch phrase for Rugby Australia as they certainly look like they know how to find them.

RA's 'devastating, no substance' response to Wallaroos shows exactly why rugby is being left behind

If the NRL are miles behind the AFL then where is Rugby Australia?
IMO we are lucky to have two of the worlds best football competitions for these two sports. The best AF and RL every weekend- it’s fantastic and I’m grateful for it. (RL fan don’t really watch AF)

Footy race: Well-run AFL is miles ahead of lumbering NRL - and here are six reasons why

The embarassment was the preceding 80mins and involved all 17 tigers players.

Embarrassment to the game: Talau and Klemmer's over-reaction to Hastings highlights lack of leadership at Tigers

Both on the money. The junior pathways have been neglected since Des’s time at the club. Gus is fixing that now.
In the mean time we have had to buy in quality players, of course to win more games, but to also set the standard for excellence at the club, attract more players and create a winning culture.
It’s not meant to be the long term plan but to get us out of the hole we are in now.
If it all works (and I hope it does!), it will be the most rewarding journey to have been on after a spoon and some pretty awful seasons in recent time….Go Dogs!

Bulldogs' path to glory full of pitfalls - very rarely do NRL clubs actually buy a premiership-winning team

Learn to tackle and join the NRLW – 2.06m/98kg as a comparison Millie Boyle is 1.83m/83kg

Whatever happened to Liz Cambage after hitting heights of basketball?

This would be dissapointing for Knights fans who wanted to travel up for the games. I don’t buy the “low engagement” argument/excuse, the scheduling of those games had more to do with it. I’m sure Brisbane fans would love to see Ponga and Gagai playing. Teams like the Warriors, and Canberra probably don’t rate either. Someone has to miss out – just say it’s on rotation and get on with it without the BS. Maybe the Knights can host it next time?

Magic Round 2023: Watch the NRL make a team disappear

Really need regular 4 nations or 6 nations tournaments- the minnows are amateur teams and cannot compete. Maybe they can have there own playoffs to keep the games going. Even the top teams in this tournament are a bit rusty due to lack of international footy.
The quality of the players in the Australian team are outstanding and would be great to see what they could do on a footy field with more time together and some competition.

How can we improve the standard of international rugby league?

I could possibly see this working for represenatative teams like the Kangaroos or Origin- a bit like the cricket teams have done.

However, I really like the positional numbers and will often refer to them when watching a game with friends who do not follow rugby league. I know the players can change positions on the field, but generally speaking most games line up with the 1-13 as listed. It’s the names of the positions that have become out of date – hooker, lock, prop…they ain’t doing that in a scrum anymore, but that’s another article

Number's up: The 13 reasons why NRL's 1-13 jersey system should be abolished

Some big calls there Danielle! I’m not as confident the Dogs will make the 8, but I think they will get close…

There's always next year: Long-range fearless predictions for 2023 NRL season

G’day Joseph, mostly fan written articles so that might be why. I recall seeing the stats from the the roar on the members sport preferences a few years ago and there are a large number of rugby fans here (as per matth comment)

There's always next year: Long-range fearless predictions for 2023 NRL season

I reckon I’ll need an extra slab to play this…but will consider it and let the “rugby league gods” decide….

The grand final drinking game is only way to get through Channel Nine's coverage

Hi Mary,
Agree with your first paragraph- hoping for some stand alone NRLW games next season or a couple of W double headers. Doing the double header with the men does not seem to get the crowds in early (or stay late), though it’s probably good for TV coverage as everything is set up already. It will be interesting to see what size crowd goes to the Central Coast. Many of the Roosters players based there.

NRLW Round 4 Talking Points: Thrillers across the round with three tight finishes

Agree with that…of course I thought the broncos were unstoppable last season!

I was at the Knights game yesterday – lucky win as Parramatta is a good team, and improving each week. The Knights have a great forward pack (including the bench) and I’d love to see them work at dominating other teams early. Big test next week against the Roosters..

NRLW Round 3 talking points: Brisbane get their first win and Roosters remain on top

Really enjoying the season so far, great games. I’ll be at the Knights game this Sunday

NRLW Round 2 talking points: Top three continue to dominate as bottom three search for first win
