Penalties are a massive issue.

Rennie needs to start getting Referees into practise sessions to make sure the group is aware of where the line is. Hawthorn did this to get effect. Its the only way to turn the tide and provide the smarts to our play.

No rugby for a month and no answers for the Wallabies... Maybe that’s good?

Just look at the player movement in AUS compared to NZ! What is that going to do to cohesion leading into a RWC.
Also – sad to see Jeral Skelton defect to League before getting some game time in the senior Rebels squad. He was a promising centre that would have plugged a much needed hole. Don’t see Ili, Vaihu or Nu’u as long term holders of the 12/13 jerseys. Thats when they are on the field instread of the sin-bin!

Super Rugby Pacific Transfer Centre: EVERY squad CONFIRMED for 2023 season

I find it so hypotricitcal that;

1. He sighted the temptations of the original $1-$2m settlement impacting his faith and is now seeking 5 times that in $10m in damages

2. Is saying that Australia is “A nation made up of so many different faiths and backgrounds will never be truly rich unless this freedom applies to all of us”….YET the post in question is directly saying the freedom of people from all backgrounds to express themselves freely can’t or shouldn’t take place.

WHATS GOIN ON UP THERE IZZY

BREAKING: Israel Folau takes legal action against Rugby Australia

McCaffrey, Rangi will definitely be in the squad. Probably Meakes too but only as a fringe player.

English is solid and journeyman but can’t help but feel he is going to end up like Debrezini – good but not great.

Wright too green to go at this stage but earmarked for 2023.

For me, I’m eagerly waiting to see if the selection panel will widen Cheika’s ‘lens’ once the squad gets announced. Lots of players are playing great rugby who wouldn’t normally get a look in that we need in the squad. Bring on the mongrel!

(Great to see a topic other than Folau BTW)

Five debutants the Wallabies should pick in 2019

Think it is generally showing everyone is playing with some real passion this year except the Tahs Backs (Hunt excluded). On form this has to be the team;
AA Rangi Slipper
Rodda Phillip
Jones McAffrey Hooper
Genia
Cooper
Naivalu
Meakes
Kerevi
Maddocks
Folau
Bench:
FF Tupou HJH Coleman Naisarani McDermott Hodge Hunt
Pocock not enough game time yet.
Foley + Beale not even on the bench.
McDermott over Gordon/Powell just for zip zip.

Nine talking points from Super Rugby Round 8

The attack platform can’t function if there isn’t clean and quick ball from scrums/rucks/lineouts or if attacking players are out of position/puff in defence. Sacking Larkham isn’t the answer for now unless RA is after a sacrificial lamb.

They all need to be on the same page and work harmoniously, efficiently and with precision.

Will Cheika really let Larkham take the fall?

Very true. The blaise attitude of “she’ll be right” after all these ‘firsts’ under the Cheika has just been swept under the carpet.

Loss to Scotland. Loss to Tonga. Home series whitewash to England. Loss to Argentina. Lowest IRB World Ranking ever.

Where is the accountability for this performance!

OFF WITH HIS HEAD.

Why do Wallabies coaches have immunity until the World Cup?

2 absolute howlers from Wallabies that “should” know better cost the Rebels the game.

Hodge not taking a shot at goal and then kicking the penalty dead instead of into touch. Dumb dumb dumb!

Naivalu rushing up too far on defence once again to let Lance through for the try. Don’t know how many times I’ve seen that from him this season.

Rebels run out of time as Reds record big win

DHP hasn’t had a great start to the year, out of form and an injury.

Haven’t totally been sold on DHP as Wallaby yet either. Too man silly penalties outway his strong-ish running in my book.

Need a dynamic FB rather than a bloke with a big boot who can tackle.

Issues for the Wallabies going forward

Koroibete has been having a shocker, definitely won’t be starting in June if he’s picked.

Second-half fade outs holding back Australian teams

Agree – he has shown promise but has never been an electric player.

If he is first-choice he is going to choke a lethal backline outside him.

Maybe its too early for Maddocks or Hodge to take the role so Wessels is going with experience over x factor in the pivot.

Jack Debreczeni excited by new-look Rebels

RURU 4 BOX-KICKS IN A ROW..!!! 0 GAIN.

Who said the Box-kick is dead in Australia???

(I hate them)

Folau shines in big Tahs rugby trial win

Have never rated Jack Deb – he is good, just not great. And with the quality backline the Rebels now have they need a gun 5/8. Just not convinced he is it.

Bit gutted they let Jono Lance go if he is the strategic 10.

Can’t see Maddocks or Hodge developing quick enough either to play 10 at the moment so guess we are stuck with him!

“Secondly, my family is in Melbourne. Being in Sydney it feels like Melbourne is like a two-minute drive.”

…..until you hit traffic on the Tulla

Waratahs lure potential All Blacks hooker

While Kuridrani’s knock on was indeed a bit of a howler, he wasn’t helped by the delivery at all.

Kerevi should have just popped the pass for Kuridrani to run onto. Instead he did a cupped flick pass out of the back of his hand that went behind Tevita and was almost at head height. Not great to burst onto with momentum for a 1-on-1.

I don’t think it was a bombed try either as there was still that player to beat.

Just finished watching the game and it was symptomatic of brain-fade all over the park. Going to be a shakey game at Murreyfield on the weekend….

Wallabies need to stop whinging and look within

“There’s only so many times a man can hear a red-faced Englishman remind them of 2003, which is believed to be the year rugby was invented for roughly 80 per cent of English fans.”

ABSOLUTE GOLD

Wallabies vs England: The jolly in West London

Agree – the merger was the best decision for Australian Rugby so as not to alienate one supporter base if one team HAD to be cut. But RA went with the chop. I would have prefered that it had not got to this.

Thats been done now and the Rebels have been most active in signing quality Force players along with Genia from O/S.

While the likes of Inman, English, Ellison, Burgess and Debrezceni have all been pretty solid – they never really fired the backline or created excitment. As a Tahs supporter living in Melbourne and having been to many games at AAMI Park over the years, the 2018 Backline is by far the most promising since the clubs inception.

Three more Wallabies hop to the Rebels for 2018

The Rebels have one meaty backline now!

Genia
Hodge
Meakes
DHP
Korobete
Naivalu
Maddocks
Shipperley

Three more Wallabies hop to the Rebels for 2018

“one thing that stood out for me is the sheer friendliness, sportsmanship and craic on show from the Welsh fans towards us Aussies”

CONFIRMED – was in Cardiff for the RWC 2007 fixture against Wales. The atmosphere was fantastic. St Mary St was buzzing. The roads outside the ground turning a street party before and after the match. Wales National Anthem inside (with the roof closed 😉 ) was unbelievable. Not as good as the Wallabies win though..!

Prepping for a weekend of Cardiff carnage (and maybe some rugby)

6. Don’t give away stupid penalties or any penalties for that matter!

7. Don’t mistake a rush defence with strong defence, that will just open up holes in the backline for the ABs to waltz through and start playing basketball

Five keys to Bledisloe success for the Wallabies

Really hope this finds its way into Nathan Grey’s head.

We have to keep people in the position they are picked for. Picked at Wing? Stay on the Wing!

Chaos reigns off the field, but also in the Wallabies' back three

Great to see Timani and Naivalu back in the side. Timani will provide the go forward and Naivalu has started to prove himself as the better option out of Speight (never recovered his form after 7’s duty and injury) and Nabuli.

How DHP retained his spot after last week is beyond me. He doesn’t quite have the bottle for test rugby yet, stupid yellow cards and clutch designs have hurt us at Test level. Might as well put Hodge on the wing if we need a big boot.

Is Horne really next in line for 13 after Kuridrani….??? I know Kerevi is out injured and Horne has some mongrel but we need a dangerous runner that can create space for our outside backs. Guess the answer is yes. Might have been a great opportunity to move Hunt to 13 and give Meakes a run at 12. Or even give Falou a chance at 13 even though he has played well at 15 the last couple of games.
