Prefer a 12 at #12 and 13 at #13.

The Wrap: Crusaders' shot clock fiasco and shhh, don’t put the moz on Darby

Bad going back to 1 v 8, 2 v 7. Guess it’s logistics but much better to have 5-8 knockouts and the top 4 getting a 2nd chance.

I’d be happier with 2 points from this match and 2 from the Drua match.
Okay, 2 + 2 = 4, while 4 + 1 = 5. Is my maths right?

'Last few years have been hell': Iceman 2.0 Harrison gets 'dream come true' in Tahs' stunning golden point win

It’s just great to see the kid come back. At the moment at any rate, I’m just glad to see the Tahs climbing up a bit, with the front row doing okay. I’ll think about the Wallabies when the time comes.

'It can be something great': Schmidt turns to 'scrum doctor' as next step in Wallabies rebuild

“The playmaker, who last wore the Wallabies jersey in 2022, banged over a tricky penalty … ”
That took me by surprise. I thought that sentence would continue “scored two well-taken tries.”
Lolesio is a good player but better to describe him as a decent five-eighth and excellent goal-kicker.

Humility cuts both ways: Brett Clark and the QRU deserve the same scrutiny as Hamish McLennan

In suburban grounds, rugby posts often sit atop soccer goals, an argument for retaining the status quo.
Soccer players seem to survive barrelling into them. If safety is paramount, maybe do away with the posts altogether, though that might make soccer a bit more uninteresting.

Moving the goalposts: Should the Rugby codes look to the USA for a new type of upright?

I’m reminded of the early World Series 1-dayers when Australia played the West Indies. The toss was irrelevant because Ian Chappell would always bat and Clive Lloyd would always bowl. It was a test of wills.

Horses for courses.
Despite what he said, Rohit was going to bowl. The cricinfo pundits were of the same view – dew and a wicket that would speed up.
It’s worth noting that of the five matches that were played in Ahmedabad, four toss winners chose to bowl. (Afghanistan the exception, losing easily to SA)
Cummings and co did the right thing, though the match swung on other factors.

It was clear to bowl.
This final felt so much like 1996 in Lahore. Ranatunga won the toss and bowled, restricting Australia to 241 on a slow wicket. In the evening, the dew set in and Aravinda de Silva steered Sri Lanka to an easy 7-wicket win under lights.

And last night, they were required to play on a dry old pitch, rather than the new one that had been prepared specifically for that semi-final. They have a case.

I’m not convinced it was forward. The passer ended up level with the ball, despite interference.

It’s possible for your pass to be caught 10 metres upfield from the point you passed it from and still be okay. Depends on how fast you were going – and in what direction – when you threw the pass.
