Jeez Greg Martin is a clown. Put all your chips on Larkham who has never been a Head Coach at international level. And if we’re honest, doesn’t have a deep resume as Head coach even at provincial level (though signs are good).
And if/when it doesn’t work out, he gets sacked and we burn through a rising talent who could have been a Wallaby Head Coach with more experience further down the line.
At least we’re not subjected to Martin on commentary these days…

Eddie had total and under freedom on player selection and selecting his coaching team, and by all accounts spent a sh*t ton of money doing it.

Yes McLennan is trying to cover his arse by tying the Fiji loss to Australian rugby’s structure. So disingenuous.
No mate – the performance of the Wallabies is down to selection and coaching, Jones made the call to go all-in on youth (ignoring all evidence that it doesn’t work to win WCs, actually the opposite), and McLennan backed him.
If either of them have a shed of dignity, they will both resign if we crash out at the pool stages… but sadly, I don’t see that happening.

I was shocked at the sacking of Rennie at the time, but I was also very prepared to throw my fan’s lot in with Eddie for RWC 2023.
After all, we’d get the predictable sugar hit with perfect timing for a good run at Bill. No matter that the wheels would surely come off not long after 2023 – as that’s the inexorable way with Eddie – but who cares, we’ve got a World Cup to have a red hot crack at, let’s worry about that later.
So having sucked up the Rennie sacking fiasco for the great hope that Eddie the Magician will lead us to glory in ‘23, Fast Eddie is now telling us to believe in him for 2027?!??
The moving of the goalposts is extremely concerning. Jones and McLennan must be held to account. Australian rugby fans will not accept a pool stage exit.

I felt Nic White’s tempo was better, compared to the Bledisloe matches, but agreed he isn’t as snappy as Macdermott.
Also his decision-making was a bit off, e.g. low-percentage kicking when the Wallabies were hot on attack in the Georgian red zone, with Georgia a man down.

Biggest concerns for me:
1. Goal kicking. Carter Gordon is worryingly poor off the tee, this was not a one off. Can’t win a World Cup without a good goal kicker.
2. Maul and lineout were ropey. Surely Eddie needs to swallow his pride (you’re right, this is ain’t going to happen) and get Laurie Fisher back in pronto.

Ha! Maybe. Though Marky Mark and Marika haven’t been starved of ball recently.
Weismantel would be ideal as he knows Eddie so well and anyone else coming in at this late stage has a huge Eddie learning cliff (not curve) to navigate!

Agree that White slows the game down to an unacceptable level when he comes on after McDermott.

Mate, I think Eddie is living rent-free in your head.
Of course Eddie is abrasive and talking a big game in media conferences. That’s his usual shtick, and it’s all the more obvious after the softly-spoken Rennie. And love him or loathe him, Eddie does cut through the extremely competitive and noisy Australian sports media landscape, where rugby has struggled for years.
I suggest that we look past the chat and look at performance, which after 4 games (preceded by little time together as a team) is undeniably trending upwards from Pretoria to Dunedin.

Like this “balls out” approach from Eddie. But also think that’s a great bench to the game off.
My 3 biggest concerns / watch outs:
1. Goal kicking. Who does it? Carter Gordon I guess? Hope he’s been practising.
2. Tom Hooper at 7 – hope he can use that bigger body to make big tackles and make a pest of himself. But with Ardie, Papalii and Frizell he is going to be a busy boy
3. Rob Leota feels underdone. He needs to come on and go totally Bazball on these guys. Got a lot to prove going into RWC. Would have felt more at ease with Pete Samu on the bench, but let’s see what Leota can do.
