I wonder in the past 25 how much money RA has put into grassroots

Super Rugby AU thrashes the Trans-Tasman competition in rugby's ratings war

If I was a kiwi being drafted into an Australian team I’d be so upset thinking my career is over, draft system is never going to happen, it’s just another Australian dream just like having 5 teams and still be competitive.. I want oz to go alone it will be sad watching them sink to 10 in the rankings , but having them after coming to us and asking for help after would be great then is saying well ya made your bed best sleep in it cobber

Did they get rid of byrne

Super Rugby AU thrashes the Trans-Tasman competition in rugby's ratings war

But is it going to make your rugby any better

We did they told us to get stuffed

Stop complaining that Super Rugby Aotearoa is too intense and boring

I never liked chatfield when I was a kid I asked him if could have an autograph at mclean Park I had already got hadlees who was next to him chatfield just looked at me said nothing and continued watching the cricket..ever since then I didn’t like him

The 1995 decisions that took southern hemisphere rugby down the wrong path

Everyone got the memo mate about the laws oz teams decided they would stick to using the old ones until it was necessary to use the new ones hence them getting owned and pinged at the breakdown.. Nz teams unilaterally used the new ones practiced using the new ones and it obviously paid dividends.. Why go in to battle using old equipment when the new ones are right there for you to use why go into a rugby match at a disadvantage, how many points did it cost? How many games did it cost I can think of at least two it cost yas

“do what we know works in oz”

Lol mate its not working what you guys are doing can’t you see the irony in your statement..
For starters stop wasting huge sums of money on over the hill players to start with .. You guys are gonna get beaten up by nz regardless and it won’t change until you actually put the money where it’s needed..yeah you may get short term success every now and then with spending large on old marque players but neglect grassroots at your peril. I gobsmacked you don’t realise this. Could be the way I’m suggesting it probably coming across as arrogant but I’ve always been a blunt man.. How many states have serious pathways not counting private schools not many huh.. These pathways you speak of especially junior ones are for the privileged kids..

The 1995 decisions that took southern hemisphere rugby down the wrong path

I don’t watch it mate.. When I had time I watched the trans tasman clashes with interest , ain’t no reception out on the ocean so I rarely got to see any.. The difference in skill was substantial. Hence my comment about grassroots if you are playing top grade rugby without the necessary skills needed to compete you are wasting your time

The 1995 decisions that took southern hemisphere rugby down the wrong path

It’s all good having the nrc mate but until you guys seriously invest in grassroots you are just delaying the inevitable. I played rugby in oz for ten years in Queensland the passion is there but there is no money. You have to start in the schools first and work your way up.. If you have a properly funded grassroots programme everything else will come. You have to think long term not the short..local clubs will always be ameteur, you need to fund pathways for kids and teenagers.. If you are just funding the top it will fail.. Which has what’s happened.. There is no quick fix it will take a decade at least to see results but that my friend is the only solution

The 1995 decisions that took southern hemisphere rugby down the wrong path

Probably the best solution would be to invest everything into grassroots for the next 5-10years then continue to fund it, national side will probably falter for a decade but the rewards will be worth it, I see no point paying ridiculous amounts of money for players who are near the end of their careers.. Recruit players who want to play for the jersey and not the financial gains, have a no dhd policy, nationwide school tours so the kids can see the players first hand spark interest and enthusiasm

I’ve just come back from a week at sea catching tuna so I’m a bit tired, I have no chip on my shoulder though just stating the truth, I know its a hard chew at times

The 1995 decisions that took southern hemisphere rugby down the wrong path

I’d pay to watch that well the Aotearoa comp followed by champions format, Aussie Comp is like watching schoolboy rugby

The 1995 decisions that took southern hemisphere rugby down the wrong path

It’s all good having an audience and good stadium numbers but if the actual rugby is sub par those numbers will drop along with the national teams rankings.. The big question is I guess is where is the money going to come from to fund these new teams

The 1995 decisions that took southern hemisphere rugby down the wrong path

Super 12 was the best by far, play each other then finals simple is better, conference systems were and are stupid for super rugby

The 1995 decisions that took southern hemisphere rugby down the wrong path

That right then bully us so they can get easier paths to finals. SA think they have the depth but results say otherwise, same thing with oz sometimes less is better at least be competitive

The 1995 decisions that took southern hemisphere rugby down the wrong path

We can afford the loss, Australia can not. Super rugby Aotearoa was scintillating footy, the best players in the world playing each other, then you have the Australian version where the biggest club couldn’t even win a game, the Australian teams still using old breakdown laws which left you completely unprepared for the assault of the kiwi teams. Which were using up to date laws, and you all screamed at your tellies or blamed the ref for not blowing for the so called infringements.. Australian rugby live in the dark ages and refuse to upgrade and evolve.. Couple of years down the road Japan and the USA will be ahead of you in the rankings if you don’t sort it out

The 1995 decisions that took southern hemisphere rugby down the wrong path

Undeserved 5th team lol, hows that looking now, our worst team pumps your best team so yeah Nah

The 1995 decisions that took southern hemisphere rugby down the wrong path

Southern hemisphere rugby is not stuffed. Just Australian.. New Zealand would never have allowed only 3 teams involved in any competition…bit of a long winded read especially the new Zealand part which seems to me you have little understanding of how the game was over here.. Australia dropped the ball don’t include us kiwi’s in your poor mismanagement…
I don’t know what RA can do to get out of there hole but I do know little ol new Zealand won’t be bailing you out this time

The 1995 decisions that took southern hemisphere rugby down the wrong path

Wish nz had more tests and one dayers but sadly we are forgotten

How to fix cricket's over-crowded schedule

Making up excuses before the comp has even started, I’ll tell you now the strongest team in the comp definitely won’t be coming from oz maybe the fourth strongest team

The problem with Super Rugby Trans-Tasman

And there goes his All Black dreams

Auckland Blues win Tuivasa-Sheck’s signature for 2022

NZ has always had a boxing day test, he meant NZ needs to be invited to oz more often. But oz hardly plays us almost shuns us, it would be like if the All blacks decided nah won’t play the wallabies for a few years.
It’s like England India and Australia don’t want to grow the game and just keep it for themselves.. I get to watch 4 more tests for the year crazy considering it’s January. Yay

Not only is the sky not falling, this Australian Test team is really good!

You just lost a series at home against an injury ravaged Indian team, there are plenty of questions to ask. Should have been a whitewash, trying to sugarcoat a failure won’t teach you anything.
