Good point Art about the number of lefties but that was always going to be a problem with 8 of them in the squad. Agree that India will likely have a field day whatever the combination of spinners
Who to bat at six and who is the fifth bowler?
Thought provoking article Michael. If lessons are to be learnt from the recent India/England series is that the seamers will have limited impact and the spinners are the key. On that basis Australia will need to pick the best 3 spinners in the country, Lyon, O’Keefe and A.N.Other for the squad. You could be right that is Swepson, it definitely isn’t Maxwell but the need to possibly play 3 spinners in starting IX could get him the nod. The argument for Hartley or Nevill is also spot on. I’m not sure Wade will make it to Sydney
Picking a team to win in India
Hello Harvey, no great difference in the number overs bowled. Phase 365 overs in 24 tests with a Strike rate of 52.14.
Phase 3 388 overs in 27 tests with a Strike rate of 122.47.
Who is to blame for Shane Watson's failures?
Arthur, lots of food for thought here. You should post it as an artilce
Australia need to maximise their time at the crease
Hi Ozinsa, the article is a little tongue in cheek but the toss may something about where Clarke is at. I am also English so really hoping however the toss goes Australia bat
The Oval toss for Clarke: Egotist or baggy green believer?
Totally agree with Chris Kettlewell’s comment. The only issue will be whether he remains Captain, my guess is that will try and get Cook through to the next ashes in Oz in 2017/18 when he will still be only 33 and then handover to Root, who by that time will be 27. Perfect timing to take over the reins. Of course Cook may still play on after that depending on form and his own levels of motivation
Should Alastair Cook retire?
I think they are only doing the last 3 days of Ascot

Thanks RobRoy- agree about Warner but think they will roll the dice banking on he has one of his blinders. A draw here and the ashes are gone. Also bound to rain at old trafford at some stage so quick runs could be crucial.

Thanks Chris, struggled to find an ironic angle with him
Is England cricket really that good?
Hi JGK. Good question, probably the England Team with Siddle replacing Bresnan and Clarke in for Pieterson
Is England cricket really that good?
Spot on analysis Ronan, as you point it beggars belief that Maxwell was picked at all for the series. He clearly isn’t liked or wanted by both Captain and Coach
