Shodan, my apoplogies if rugby union is getting you upset. I know the obsession from rugby league fans with TV ratings and crowds but look to bright side. World cups and sports events aren’t always measure on TV ratings. Over 2 million tickets sold, Major sponsors, TV rights, huge Profits, thousandof travelling fans, TV ratings up every event, millions of dollars to the hosting nations. What else to you ask for in a world cup event ?

Like I said many times M1tch rugby league is no more attractive for players, tv and sports fans than field hockey, volleyball, handball, American football and so on. I haven’t been convince that its better than rugby union and Im sure AFL, American football, soccer and rugby union fans don’t find rugby league exciting. The evidence is in front of you because for many years now AFL and rugby union is still a religion in Melbourne and NZ despite the Storms winning the NRL many times and Kiwi’s/Warriors winning the RLWC and made the final of the NRL.

The problem here titus is the rugby league fans on here can’t seem get over the fact that rugby union is a global sport played in more than 100 countries big or small. They won’t admit also that the rugby world cup is one of the major world sports event. They would argue that other sports are popular and have the numbers but its not about that because to them its a power game thing that they won’t win because everytime they put down rugby union they are also putting down their code since its much more smaller. Looks like Russians are heading the same way New Caledonia and Georgia and a few others.

The Rugby World Cup is in the top ten most watched event in Australian TV ever. I could only imagine if that final was played on sunday it would have had another million to it. I remember Brisbane city clubs, pubs and the streets were full of rugby fans and Caxton street was closed down.
