There were rumours about the testing that someone (or some people) had tested positive
SARU stopped the press leaking the rumours which of course made the rumours worse.
Now it seems only he got caught.
Trouble was it was conflated into his extra martial affair with a member of staff so we didnt know what was what.

RWC News: Fiji win sends Wallabies to all time low, grisly Lomax verdict, Boks star's positive drug test

Why would we? As a Bok supporter, I am delighted he is not available.
Political pressure cant force his selection not can irrational dear of change.

His last staring game was July last year
He is toxic, entitled and too old to be our future
We are now forced to play with what we have which happens to be younger, have more potential and has a postive impact to the team

I may sound like an old fuddy duddy but someone
– that has an affair with the dietician cheating on his wife
– that has a drunken rage on a aeroplane whilst trying to harass cabin staff
– an dm uch for

is not for the team environment.

Its a review of the 2022 controversies.

Maniacal competitors, blunt force innovators and the taint of corruption: Four men who shaped rugby in 2022

I dont think its whataboutism..
Rassie’s behavior has been discussed a lot Rassie deserves brickbats..

But have we discussed Laporte’s crookery sufficiently?

Excellent point.

Corruption is serious.

Not to mention the below.

And WC2023 vote looked a little iffy.
It does make me want to have another look at the vote?

We have a similar problem in SA… with some notable differences.

The schools that produced the Boks a 100 years ago are much the same as they are today

Since readmission in 1992 – here are the top 20 schools Bok wise
Only 1 in the top 10 is private. 3 in the top 20
But in all those 17 government schools, rugby is a big, big deal.
Alumni sponsor expensive coaches.
Commercial sponsors throw money at the schools.
Scholarships are used to get the best players crowding our local boys
Most of the 2nd and third teams would beat most other 1st teams.

Yet despite this only 15 players can start each week.
The concentration of power just crowds out local boys and worse still it is no fun for the sides playing these top schools. SO we now have unofficial national ‘leagues’ which further increases investment in the top schools and leaves the rest out.

In SA we are supposed to be spreading rugby to compensate for apartheid. We are if anything concentrating it… not by race but through elitism.

Rugby deserves better

Rugby in New Zealand is at risk of becoming an elite game

Hi Sione

As a South African, I am biased….(but we all are)

It is different between NZ and SA. And it’s difficult to draw conclusions.
NZ have held the wood over us for ages but there is something about that game.
I just can’t wait for the NZ vs SA games.
I am old enough to remember when the two sides were even and my feelings werent different then.
They are the enemy we respect (and love a little).

I like other test matches but I don’t love them.
There is an arrogant part of me (despite having no basis for this arrogance) that believes that victory against everyone else is just required.

Defeat against NZ is acceptable as long as we try our hearts out and give them a good go. I don’t like it… but its OK.

I am positive our players feel the same way deep down.. They would never verbally dismiss other nations.

It’s no coincidence that in the last 15 years NZ have only lost 3x to a national side (BL not a national side). All 3x to SA.

I can’t wait for Pretoria.
I know NZ are going to want to extract revenge and I wouldn’t have it any other way
May the best side win and I hope its the Boks…

What the Wallabies can learn from South Africa's win against the All Blacks

Du Toit – 28
Mostert – 23

What the Bok? Saffas stun All Blacks in incredible boilover

Thanks Matt.

Unlike you, we have had plenty of practice losing games and despite the practice I still feel despair.

I do make one exception… its when we lose (by not too much) after a valiant effort to one side… our old enemy… the All Blacks.
Losing to anyone else is just unacceptable.

You can see our players feel the same way as me. The respect they have for NZ makes a victory so much sweeter.

We have dropped down the rankings and other sides (apart from NZ) are better than us..
To me that remains unacceptable…We must be 1 and 2 … and have a titanic battle… and may the best side win on the day. Under those circumstances I find defeat tolerable

As a rabid All Blacks fan, why was I okay with this shocking loss?

Copying the SA effort last week…..

Calamitous All Blacks error leads to easy 'Boks try

Aus beat my side (SA) last week and I thought Aus were bad and SA were … worse

Aus plumbed some new depths today

Wallabies go down with a whimper against Pumas

Te thing that stood out more than the total tackle count was

Pieter Steph du Toit – 28 tackles
Mostert – 23 tackles

I have never seen numbers like that

What the Bok? Saffas stun All Blacks in incredible boilover

And the missed knock on before an AB try

What the Bok? Saffas stun All Blacks in incredible boilover

He did get charged and fined..
Smith didn’t even get charged

Steve Smith's "brain fade" was cheating that should be punished

Easy to express regret when you don’t get charged…

ICC gets the boys together, wags their finger at them, tells them there will be no action and they must be good boys going forward….. for a definite infraction..
Faf may well have expressed regret as well if he had gotten a stern talking to,

When you get charged you either guilty or not guilty.
Faf had to make that choice.
Smith didn’t

Steve Smith's "brain fade" was cheating that should be punished

Couldn’t agree more.
Even when one of our sides is going through a bad patch, they usually pull something out for their foes.

Classy by ABs to make a heartfelt fuss about our 100 club.

Credit to ref for encouraging a great game.

Well done ABs your territory and decision making tilted it

We fought to end and oh so close.

After I saw the Argie scrum demolish SA, and the ab scrum demolish Aus I was very worried about our scrum. Guess it’s sorted out in the main

Amused at the TMO arguing to keep the puncher on.
It was a useless punch but he wasn’t trying to hit his own player

Ref even went to his pocket after seeing it

So how does being picked reflect on him? Your comment was a general one about the player.

Either way we needed him back. 1st and 2nd choice has been out most of the season

How ignorant. Lambie is back from about 4 months out.

His track record is good.

Ronan, I really don’t get your chain of logic.

I can call Warner and unsporting prat and Philander a ball tamperer and be correct both times.

Because Philander used his finger nail doesn’t in any universe make Warner correct.
And that example isn’t the only reason why Warner has been insulted.
Granted he is a superb batsman but he does have his own demons

It's just not cricket - ball tampering needs to be addressed

As an SA supporter I am seriously annoyed with Philander and even more annoyed si team management for the attempt to keep it out the press (how stupid are they?)

However I am not ready to say this is ‘policy’ and even less likely to listen to Warner. Two transgressions doesn’t make Warner correct..

It's just not cricket - ball tampering needs to be addressed

Last year. The boy I turned 19 in May.
He played provincial primary school rugby in 2008

He doesn’t look out of place at this level
