There are two rule changes which I think are worthy of the NRL's consideration: Outlawing of the scrum and introduction of the kick-start; and…
I thought all areas were policed reasonably well.
There were some inconsistent ruck speed penalties that were afforded to The Broncs in the first half, and also a single lost ball call after a tackle that should have resulted in a penalty to The Sharks that pushed the tide against them.
Crow-Nulla had their opportunity late in the game, but failed to convert them into 2 glorious premiership points.

Jim Hall, Max Brown and Ronnie Coote are deadset legends for the parts they played in setting up Men Of League.
Buy a pair of their training shorts (around $25) the next time you see their stall at a game – they’re the comfiest pair of shorts in my wardrobe by far, and are now used like pajamas!
Men of League: Laughs, love and livin' large
Rub of the green has def. gone Broncs way.
Good defence for most part by both teams.
Fifita looks ready to take on the world.
Bird seems to have gone to another level – The Sharks need to push it his way more often.
Fumble fingers Lee – not again!
Nine commentary is getting worse – something I didn’t think was possible.

No one likes to queue on New Years, or at any time for that matter – whether the queue is near or far.
Wishing you all a fantastic year throughout 2017.

Now there’s a half decent idea, except I don’t want to invite Mason, Thurston, or Lewis
Will the NRL continue to insult our intelligence?
Granville had a great game. He took advantage of a few quick play the balls on the back of good runs from forwards, and had a hand in two tries. His defence was great – but unfortunately he gave away a penalty in the 4th minute that led to 8 points in a row for the Broncs. The award is for best and fairest.

How was Milford unfair at any point in the match?

Norm Provan is the only player to have been awarded 3 MOTM awards in Grand Finals. 1957,58,63
Graham Eadie, Bradley Clyde and Brett Kenny all achieved the feat twice.
Will the NRL continue to insult our intelligence?
Yep – I was born in Melbourne.
Best means best in anyone’s book, and that’s the whole gist of the MOTM.
It’s also the vibe, and it’s Mabo.
Will the NRL continue to insult our intelligence?
Just helping people like you who don’t care, let other people who do care, know that they don’t care.
Not that it’s now that I’ve got the time to write an article or anything.
Happy New Year champ.
Will the NRL continue to insult our intelligence?
Ha Ha! Though some would have asserted that it was Mr and Mrs Sterling
Will the NRL continue to insult our intelligence?
Mortimer won it in 85, prior to the man of the match in the GF being badged with Churchill’s name.
Can you remember who the selectors on the day were?
Will the NRL continue to insult our intelligence?
2004 – Andrew Ryan , 2013 – David Williams (ha ha)
You’ll have to re-read the article for the other 2 years.
Will the NRL continue to insult our intelligence?
So what you’re really saying Andrew, is that none of the Clive Churchill medal winners should have been presented with a medal because……………………. no one cares anyway.
It’s great to be able to speak for everyone so freely. You are blessed with an uncanny ability to read NRL fans minds………………. based upon your experiences with reality TV.
You should let the recipients know personally, that you’d like them to throw their medals in the trash because……………….. no one really cares.

Big J, I’d like to see an award ceremony with Big Willie, JT, Luke Lewis, and any other player who in the heart didn’t think they should have been selected for the award.
In the ceremony, they would get to hang the medal around the player that they believe was the best and the fairest on the ground in their Grand Final.
Is there another way of restoring value to Clive Churchill’s name?
Will the NRL continue to insult our intelligence?
How did you arrive at that conclusion Andrew?
Players are great at identifying who has had the greatest impact on a result. Listen to post match interviews and you’d be hard pressed to see bias enter the equation.
There’s no way in hell that Thurston or Lewis would have been selected by them.
Will the NRL continue to insult our intelligence?
Thanks Max – the NRL could add some theatrics to the GF if they posted a half-time leaders board of the top 10 players.
Will the NRL continue to insult our intelligence?
Maybe the players themselves should be the ones who vote on the award?
It would offer a fairer reflection than the method that’s currently taking place.
Will the NRL continue to insult our intelligence?
Classic . Evan’s brother was Anthony Thomas who managed The Screaming Jets. I watched my beloved Saints lose back to back Grand finals in Newcastle in 1992 and 1993 with Dave Gleeson who was also a Dragon’s tragic.
Will the NRL continue to insult our intelligence?
I’d forgotten about Big Willie in 2004 – that one was horrendous.
Great list of the top of your head Jason – you’ve got a memory like a bull elephant!
Will the NRL continue to insult our intelligence?
In reality The Storm have won 2 Grand Finals and lost 5 😉
Had Anthony Mundine passed to an unmarked man in the 1999 GF, then it would be 1 and 6.
They are definitely in the mix this year and will go close come finals time.
Business as usual or beginning of the end for Melbourne's 'big three'?
