Trott in the right but too many are in the wrong

over the next 9 years the cap will probably grow a fair bit. It might be looked at as a shrewd piece of business in a few years.

Giants youngsters outshine Buddy

I got laughed out of town for saying he would be a decent allrounder if watson was injured.

Shield final race down to the wire

Bird is now the fastest fast bowler, and fastest of any bowler in 80 odd years to 100 shield wickets

Tasmania surge ahead in Sheffield Shield

I’d love to see Burns make a bigger score, I feel like every time I have checked since the shield came back he has made a 70 odd.

bravo schtumpy that really cracked me up

Ryan Harris and his impossible career

I think Clarke has more 150+ scores than most if not all of the tier one bats. Serious arguments can be made to put him in that first tier.

It's now a question of 'how great' for Michael Clarke

a first class average under 25 in long form cricket doesn’t suggest that you are talking total sense.

O'Keefe must make Pakistan tour

starc and hazlewood have both been selected without merit.

O'Keefe must make Pakistan tour

Mcgraths best figures are 8 for 24, he dismissed the greatest batsmen of his era cheaply all the time. Harris is amazing but mcgrath is a far superior bowler.

Harris joins Lillee and McGrath as all-time great

mcgrath was like a metronome, one bloody consistent ticker!

Harris joins Lillee and McGrath as all-time great

I’ve always grown up loving to beat the english. There is nothing quite as satisfying as destroying the poms in a game of cricket, and no depths lower than losing to them. But South Africa have always been the yardstick. I look forward to the south africa series more than the ashes because I know we are gonna play the a team which is always the best or second best in the world.

Cape Town: the closest of blowouts

I think thats really well thought out Lroy. I kind of like it. But don’t come anywhere near my test cricket which is as close to perfect as a game can be.

Cape Town: the closest of blowouts

Do you know if du plessis can open BBB? He looks like he is made for it, laying down anchor at the top of the innings would be more effective than in the middle of it.

Graeme Smith bows out with a whimper

Harris is a great bowler but is his best better than mcgraths best? Lillees best? Alan davidson or ray lindwalls best? Even Thomson or Johnson’s best would push him. He is a wonderful bowler and amongst the best I’ve ever seen, certainly the bravest. I struggle to put him in the category on some of the former.

I think you should get go with specialists, Philander has really come along as an allrounder and most of the tail can bat a bit. I thought that Abbot looked the goods. Morkel is perplexing at 6 whatever and 150 and pretty accurate he should be taking wickets for fun but he just doesn’t pitch it full enough often enough. Maybe De Lange could take his place? It seems harsh considering he was your best bowler, but he got the worst figures so … If the Australian experience has taught me anything you can hope for an allrounder for decades and they will only weaken your team if you can’t find a freak like Kallis.

Surely De VIlliers gives up the gloves, its been a fun experiment but he isn’t a good enough keeper, the drop off Warner in the second test was unforgivable. He seems to be one of those blessed in everything he does and should probably get the captaincy. I’m sure he will be great at it.
Elgar is the obvious replacement for Smith, gritty determined left handed opener. The spin is certainly a really useful consideration. Maybe peterson should be replaced but I’d wait a year, just to let the team bed down after some serious changes.

Graeme Smith follows Kallis into the sunset

Hahahaha!
good one james

The politics of cricket selection is a big thing in any country, just ask Phil Hughes about Shaun Marsh! Or Brad Hodge, or Steve O’keefe.
Matthews did certainly play very well against Pakistan but had done nothing to deserve the captaincy until that point. IT takes more than working hard to get to the top, it takes luck and helpful structures.

What happened to Sri Lanka's Suresh Perera?

the early morning declaration which put them off guard, the huge amount of wickets in the first spell of an innings, the amount of catches in unusual positions. If Ponting was captain we would have lost.

Warner papers over Clarke's captaincy cracks

he took a 5fer in the other match mick. He’s not shane warne but he is a very decent off spin bowler. Hopefully he gets to the point he can be a genuine wicket taker.

We did it! Thrilling last-gasp win for Aussies to take series

they could have appealed and he would be given out, kind of caddish but batsmen really aren’t meant to touch the ball
