A good departing press release.

Sacked Rebels coach blames Beale incidents for sacking

I like Higgers more now.

JOC must have been really a bad Burger Boy, considering that Kurtley is welcome back after he punched his captain.

O'Connor had to go says Higginbotham

At least we know that Deans does not have a game plan, period.

Ewen McKenzie to coach Wallabies, Deans sacked

What is the option?

Keep Deans who has a 3-18 record against the Kiwis?

All coaches have a used by date, so why the negatives?

Ewen McKenzie to coach Wallabies, Deans sacked

On a thousand mile journey, it starts with the first step in the right direction.

Robbie Deans was given 6 years, he is clearly not good any more for the Wallabies. Just face the facts.

Living with mediocrity and agreeing with it is just madness.

@Tommy

I purposely said: “Win and try to win always.” I wanted to give Link a positive remark.

Link tried to play: Try to not lose by too many points at the Tahs and I hated him for it, even though the we got to the finals. Kicked the ball up and hope the opponents make mistakes. Tackle tackle and tackle. Not positive attacking Rugby. Boring attcking structure or lack of it.

Even though the Tahs under Chieka is not winning many matches, they are playing positive attacking Rugby. So even the results are not coming, no one is complaining so much and the fans are slowly coming back.

As for Waugh, you are probably right and so was Matthew Burke when he was involved at the Tahs. The first thing Link did was to get rid of Burke when he came on.

God speed Robbie.

Thanks for giving me great pleasure of watching you and your Wallabies playing great rugby for the first 4 years right up till the Semi against the Irish.

Congratulations Ewen!!!

Don’t ever go back to your ways at the Tahs and you might be ok. Win and try to win always.

Ewen McKenzie to coach Wallabies, Deans sacked

Tomane is not ready. He was clueless in both the test he was involved in.

Beale needs to go back and lie down on the couch for more therapy.

Ewen McKenzie to coach Wallabies, Deans sacked

We might now just win the Bledisloe Cup and make you really stocked.

Great post and always a good read from you.

However you comment: “But McKenzie, who turned around the Reds and took them to the 2011 Super Rugby title after also guiding NSW to finals in 2005 and 2008, has more public support as rugby fans want to see an Australian in charge.”

If you have been following the opinions at Roar, most do not care where the coach comes from. Most people are commenting on the style of play rather than Nationality. Jake White will bring a very South African Style of kicking and territory game, but Mckenzie a more traditional Aussie style of play (which McKenzie can sometimes bring, but not always as his time at the Tahs showed a very defensive pattern of playing “not to lose” rugby). Chieka would be my pick, but he needs to first do his job at the Tahs.

Between White and McKenzie, if the ARU is really serious in wanting to grow grass root support and filling in the Stadiums, it has got to be McKenzie.

“rugby fans want to see an Australian in charge.” is not quite stating the actual mood of the Rugby Fans.

Deans days numbered as Wallabies coach

Quote: “And the decision to re-appoint him for two years before the Rugby World Cup 2011 tournament was also the correct decision.”

Spiro, how can you justify the above? As here we are with 6 months left of Robbie Deans’ contract, there is nothing worthwhile to show for it.

You also said: “But losing the way the Wallabies did at ANZ Stadium is not acceptable. It was a debacle. It was one of the worst Wallaby performances for some years.”

Bad selection: ” I can’t understand why Christian Lealiifano wasn’t brought into number 10 and O’Connor pushed out into inside centre.” And having the right 10 (or even an experienced 10) is crucial in any Test match let alone the BIL series. Not once did JOC failed, but three times in succession. The basic of any management is to change what is not working, and Deans failed in the fundamental of NOT ‘learning from mistakes’.

Playing favourites causing team distress. News have now been made public that KB and JOC missed the bus for team training two days before the crucial test. And this was following their pretty stupid decision to stay out till 4am before the Melbourne Test. RD said to the press that he had hard words with the two amigos, but obviously he had picked up Julia Gillard’s trait – no ones listening anymore.

Kurtley Beale played appallingly and so did JOC as a 10, and Deans have single handed carried them on his back. Deans totally misjudged his charges’ character and it is also a fundamental flaw for a coach.

Judging by the lack of intensity shown by the whole team, I wonder how much the above incident caused it.

SPIRO: What went wrong for the Wallabies? Everything

Well at least Jake White has a plan.

After 6 years we still do not know Robbie Deans: “Play what is in front of you” actually means. No attacking structure other than using individual brilliance to score a tries – and not many of them.

I did not like MacKensie when he was the coach of the Tahs, but the Reds were playing Champaign football when they won the S15.

As much as the Brunbies are an improved side under Jake White, I tend to fall asleep when I watch them play.

Wallabies coach Robbie Deans seems resigned to dark fate

Good selection, but have JOC on 14. Good that you did not pick KB.

We still need a good number 8. Not too sure about SH.

Wallabies coach Robbie Deans seems resigned to dark fate

except for kurtley beale who gave up mid way between the second half.

He should go back for more psychology therapy.

Wallabies coach Robbie Deans seems resigned to dark fate

They can say anything on TV about the toxic environment can they?

British and Irish Lions hammer Wallabies 41-16, seal series win

We did not lose. The Kiwi coach lost it for us.

British and Irish Lions hammer Wallabies 41-16, seal series win

Perhaps playing favourites may have been RD downfall, as the team would lose trust because RD does not pick on performance but on how much they suck up.

When Popcock proved his ability, Deans went full throttle with Popcock without thinking ahead of the 2011 RWC.

It all comes down to man management skills, and the reading of each key team members. Leadership is all about keeping harmony and competition within the organisation a fair and positive challenge.

Smith can make 2015 World Cup: Deans

To be fair, McCalman selection came up from the left field. If he had gone with Kimlin, there would not be much protest here at Roar.

The thing with Smith, is that he is coming back from a 12 week injury in 5 weeks. To me it sounds a like a risk. Just look at McCabe and Barnes as examples poor judgement by Deans.

George Smith will start for Wallabies: reports [with expected Wallabies lineup]

Sorry to interrupt, but Gill won the ball against the BIL lineout (line out that was poorly conceded by JOC kicking out on the full)

Hopper was blown out of the way by the BIL pack all game.

George Smith will start for Wallabies: reports [with expected Wallabies lineup]

However, we will all need to cross our fingers that Smith survives at least 60 minutes coming back from a knee surgery.

George Smith will start for Wallabies: reports [with expected Wallabies lineup]

@ZZ

He did his job in semi against Ireland, but plain not up to standard in either 6, 7 or 8.

Kimlin is way better at covering 6 and 8 IMO.

Wallabies make shock McCalman move

he put it on the ground, but the head was in the way.

Breaking: James Horwill cleared

RK

” with JOC going through the motions to Lealiifano”

Why does RD waste a great talent at wing so that that winger can play at 10 just to peddle the ball to his 12 for the play making role.

One bad decision that will result in two bad selection.

As good as Tomane is, I reckon JOC is better and has more experience in Rugby Test.

Wallabies blessed with options galore against Lions

I can see the BIL attacking right through the soft centre channel.

First try of the night by BOD.

Deans has gone safety first with his selections

DL

Palu is not the most fantastic 8, but his position in the pack during ruck and maul is invaluable.

I personally do not like his “gentle giant” sty;le of tacking, as oppose to venomous stuff dished up by some one like Kaino or Jerry Collins. And I also think that he is not as good as h was.

However he is the guy we need in the pack because no one else in our pack plays in the tight. BA and BR who should be doing the tight work stands one out most time. Douglas is willing but not hard, Mowen is acting tough but not strong.

Overall Palu deserves his spot till someone better comes along. Kimlin makes sense, but not sure if he does the tight stuff as well as Palu. Higginbottom, as good as he is, is not the right fit in our pack at the moment, but I would replace Mowen for Higginbottom if he was fit.
