I hope your right truetigerfan but the longer these things drag on usually the worse it plays out. By all accounts you would think he’s staying so it’s strange he won’t sign or let the fans know where he may be leading. Go tigers!!

AFL Trade Rumours: Tom Rockliff, Dustin Martin, Steven Motlop and more

I hope your right David C and I agree Motlop isn’t a required recruit at Richmond we have plenty of small forwards we need a second key target to help Jumping Jack down there. Motlop is to up and down and more down this year. Has dropped in trade value massively since last year.

AFL Trade Rumours: Tom Rockliff, Dustin Martin, Steven Motlop and more

I ate pies you have been around long enough to look how these play out. Going on previous years and players situations like this usually go one way. It’s rare they don’t. Why else would he be holding out if it wasn’t about money and more about where the club was heading?

AFL Trade Rumours: Tom Rockliff, Dustin Martin, Steven Motlop and more

As heartbreaking as it is I think Dusty is going with the tiges revised offers and proof of progressing in the right direction he should be putting pen to paper instead he is going silent which doesn’t bode well. He has given no indication of what he is going to do which is more of a reason he is going. Apparently he was waiting to see how the tigers are looking well the proof is in the pudding in the finals and clearly looking better. Oh well anyone want a signed dusty wings print or any signed dusty jerseys when he leaves I’m selling all my dusty stuff! I hope I’m wrong though.

AFL Trade Rumours: Tom Rockliff, Dustin Martin, Steven Motlop and more

As any tiger fan like myself would agree success ths year would be amazing and remarkable considering last year but currently the biggest success we could have as a club this year would be retaining the DUSTMAN. But a premiership would top it all off haha. If we retain Dusty i think we have some fruitful years ahead.

I still think we are one half decent key forward from being a really threatening side. The smalls are great but Jack needs help from another key target.

Go tiges!! Tiger4Life.

Second-tier Richmond players prove 2017 is Tiger time

Me to Philby hopefully he stays a tiger for life as long as they pay him a mill a year or close to it I hope he will choose to stay and go down as a tiger great or even greatest of all time.

Dusty's D-Day is coming soon

Well as it stands Winston I think he currently only has 3 players using his services. He’s definitely a good negotiator I’m not disputing that I am just going back to that situation in 2013 when he seemingly shopped Martin around to other clubs when clearly Martin didn’t want to leave Richmond. If Martin didn’t want to leave why was Carr trying to shop him around to other clubs. Because they believed the dollar value at the time offered by Richmond was not up to standard. Was that Carr’s decision that the money offered wasn’t up to standard because clearly like I said Martin didn’t want to leave and ended up signing a 2 year extension for less than Richmond initially offered before he tried to take Martin to other clubs doorsteps. I’m just saying again that money is obviously important but not the sole motivator in regards to signing a contract. I could be wrong but Martin doesn’t seem purely motivated by money. Carr’s job is to put deals in front of Martin like you said but I hope he’s letting Dusty decide for himself I just feel he has a strong say in what happens and he will choose the dollars every time. We are going around in circles but I understand what your saying but based on information I have read and seen that’s my opinion on Ralph Carr and the way he conducts business.

Dusty's D-Day is coming soon

Hey Gecko not unethical but just get the feeling that he is all about money and looking at situation in 2013 feel he has a massive influence on Dusty’s decision and isn’t looking out for Martin’s best interests as a whole. I could be wrong but it’s my opinion. Of course it’s his job to find offers but I strongly feel he’s trying to sell to highest bidder not best personal option. May be a tad bias I guess lol.

Dusty's D-Day is coming soon

Hey Joe I agree I completely I think Fyfe to stay for sure Kelly more likely to leave if they win comp and dusty if Essendon a offer is true could be tempting.Yep long end to the year for fans waiting to see where the stars end up. I think Fyfe captaincy has sealed his fate into resigning.

Dusty's D-Day is coming soon

Hey Cat not sure if GWS could offer much more than 850k so it would be a massive paydrop for dusty but yep he would certainly most likely be part of a successful dynasty at GWS. Be a massive move if that ever eventuated be unbeatable I think lol.

Dusty's D-Day is coming soon

Well looking at the age of the majority of our players at the moment in first and second grade performing I would say looking at results etc you could fairly say trending upwards but it’s a very close comp at the moment. The acquisitions of caddy Prestia and Nankervis this year all younger than 24 have been a big boost. Bar a dramatic drop in form from most fingers crossed the tigers are building towards something special. Another key forward to help Jack along with a solid backline and midfield puts the tigers in the mix for sure. But I may be being a biased tiger fan haha.

Dusty's D-Day is coming soon

I suppose cat if a team is willing to offer an unbackable amount it will be hard for dusty to knock back. I suppose Kelly in similar predicament especially with GWS being the powerhouse they are.

Dusty's D-Day is coming soon

Haha I hope your right Joe I thought buddy would sign for hawks to you just never know hey. Fair call tiges need to stand up and at least win a final and get over that hurdle.

Dusty's D-Day is coming soon

Fair call Brad I can understand what your saying but when you read articles and see videos that he says he is happy at tigers, wants to be a tiger for life and you can plainly see and read he has some great mates at the club and the club is steadily on the incline there’s no reason he should look elsewhere if the club can pay him close to what he is worth.
He’s built a relationship with tiger fans over the last 8 years and he could go down as a tiger great or even the greatest of all time it’s alot to potentially give up also. It feels as though everyone else believes he should go for more success or mainly money but if tigers can provide success which is as much chance as most and reasonable money I don’t see why he would or should go.

Dusty's D-Day is coming soon

No my problem is if it’s purely him telling dusty to go where the money or is if he gets a little less but being happier at Richmond. If he’s happier at Richmond you would say if Carr was looking out for Dusty he would negotiate the best deal at Richmond not seek out higher money at other clubs and advise Dusty to leave Richmond and go for the pennies. I don’t know what he is advising but judging by his past experience he will direct Dusty to make a purely financial decision which is not looking out for Dusty’s true happiness and feelings. That’s my opinion.

Dusty's D-Day is coming soon

Hey Winston it’s my personal opinion about Ralph Carr based on the information available to me. 4 years ago Carr was trying to sell Martin to other clubs for a higher price tag and unfortunate for them they didn’t bite and Richmond welcomed him back with open arms speaks more about Richmond not Carr.
Like I said before I’m not saying Dusty needs to resign or leave but an indication of where he is at would be reasonable.
Apparently he wants to stay at Richmond from all accounts and information available so it must be financially motivated for a large part but I personally think that would be coming more from Carr than Martin. Sell to the highest bidder. It’s just my opinion and I may be wrong. I hope Dusty stays a tiger and is rewarded accordingly.

Dusty's D-Day is coming soon

Hey Joe your very true in what you say but I think Richmond have shown enough signs this year and with the age etc of the list and the addition of one key forward to help Jack that they have all the pieces to be successful. They are definitely a club in the mix but the comp is so even these days.

Dusty's D-Day is coming soon

Hey cat of course they could get 2 or 3 players for the price of Dusty but really with his standing at the club and players and fans etc you honestly could not let him go. You would have the uproar from the tiger army regardless of who they brought in instead. Fans are loyal people well most and Dusty is apart of the tiger army. But your right they would have a contingency plan in place with many alternatives.

Dusty's D-Day is coming soon

Good point Cat you would hope so. I suppose it’s getting to the point now where you would like some idea of where he’s at so you could potentially begin to cast out a few lines if he’s decided he potentially wants out. The money you would save you could begin trying to lure Kelly away from the other 6 clubs that want him and make an enquiry for example. Hopefully none of that eventuates and the raging bull stays on for the long haul.

Dusty's D-Day is coming soon

He does owe them that much because if he was leaning towards leaving the club could potentially begin planning and looking towards next year even though it would be a massive task moving forward without Dusty. The compensation would be no where near what’s he’s worth to the club as a player and person. Fingers crossed he stays but it’s that unknown factor at the moment.

Dusty's D-Day is coming soon

I agree Will honesty is an excellent value to have in life and in this case if the money was astronomical that dusty couldn’t refuse you would understand but still be bitterly disappointed. I think these player agents are somewhat selfish. In this instance I don’t think Dusty is all about the dollars but I think Ralph will push to send him to the highest bidder. Like you say you hope he’s getting the best available advice.

Dusty's D-Day is coming soon

I agree Ian but Hanneberry is flat at the moment and the 2nd highest earner Tippett has not lived up to the bill. He plays half a dozen good games a year but he will never lift a team when they are down. Went missing in GF last year aswell seems to do that in big games. With a full list in good form Sydney are a good side but their better players are getting older such as Buddy, Grundy and McVeigh etc. I’m just saying they are beginning to potentially start trending downward.

Changing of the guard in the AFL

Hey Aransan I fully agree with everything you say I really rate Collingwood I think they are one tall key defender away from being a serious threat. I still think Geelong are over reliant on dangerwood who seem to always bail Geelong out of trouble. I think the future is bright for your beloved Essendon after all that ASADA crap. You have a solid side on paper.

Changing of the guard in the AFL

Hey George I agree with the age of Sydney’s current players but I think that Sydney’s better players such as Buddy,Grundy and Kennedy are pushing 30 and players such as Hanneberry and Tippett just not doing enough this year well tippett really for last 12 months I think he is overrated and overpaid for what he produces or lack there of.
As for Richmond the jury is still out I agree but they are certainly trending up getting those games into kids last year has worked wonders. If that’s true about Prestia that is very worrying for the long term. I’m just hoping Dusty stays there’s to much speculation around that at the moment.

Changing of the guard in the AFL

Loyalty is not a common trait these days in the AFL but I tend to think with Martin it’s a combination of money and success if he can get it. If the tigers can provide both financial security and potential success I think he stays if they can’t provide both I think he goes but not to North Melbourne as they are certainly no further ahead than the tigers in the push for a flag. Honestly as a die hard tigers fan it would cut me to pieces if he leaves he’s my second fave player of all time behind Matthew Richardson. If Richmond play this style and he has fun even if we don’t make the 8 he might stay if he sees the fact we are moving forward. Go tiges yellow and black forever!

The Richmond Tigers must keep Dustin Martin
