Why would anyone hold up juvenile footballers to their own children as ‘role models’ and why would the NRL promote them as such? Catch ball, kick ball, make tackle- let’s keep it at that.

David Fifita has 'learned a big lesson' from Bali incident

Soliola was laying a legitimate tackle. He has no obligation to give Keary time or space to kick. Keary leaves the ground in the act of kicking and the tackle impacts his thigh- hardly diving into his legs. If kickers wish to remain untouched- take 5 steps back.

Chooks won. They were better. The end.

Roosters 2 tries only came off the back of 1. Their trainer interfering in play
2. Comical indecisive refereeing

As for the ‘didn’t score while chooks were down a man’ go back through the season and you will find many instances where teams haven’t been able to take advantage of the extra man.

But yeah keeping telling yourself the Roosters were the better team.

Chooks won. They were better. The end.

Tim, to change a ruling, correct or otherwise (barring later being advised of foul play),is not an option referees have. A good ref would know this.

The argument about would the Raiders have scored has not been widely viewed from this perspective.

When Cummins ruled 6 again believing Tedesco had knocked the ball forward which was regathered by Hodgson. Friend, wearing number 20, attempts to tackle Hodgson whereby involving himself in the play from an offside position even before Cummins reverses his original call. The penalty goal that Croker steps up to take is a good a opportunity to score that a game can present.

Ben Cummins is a good man and a great referee – so lay off him!

Watch league often or just GF day? There are some tactics out there at times.

Why Peter Sterling doesn't think the 'six again' controversy cost the Raiders the premiership

The Raiders submitted to a tackle centre field, not the place you gift possession. By not having the opportunity to spread it to the wing and ask questions of the scrambling defence, at the very least the change of possession would have seen the chooks hemmed in starting the set from the corner- what every team tries to do short of scoring or getting a repeat set.

A rational review of Sunday’s refereeing dramas

If Wighton doesn’t submit to the tackle, at the very least a change of possession is not in the centre of the field- a much easier prospect coming away from your own end.

Sorry Peter but you are wrong suggesting the call had a limited influence on the game. I think he knows it too.

What rules of what game are you speaking of? It now seems like it’s just fly by the seat of your pants stuff these days. See if no one notices or if you can get away with it.

The NRL knew the risks for years about on-field trainers and did nothing

For sure the ball would have been passed out to the wing to try and find out some scrambling Roosters defence. Short of that the next option would be to grubber into the in goal for chasers or a repeat set goal line drop out. The other outcome would be to hand over the ball in the corner, a much better place to start a defensive set, rather than the middle of the field as is what happened.

Thanks Dave. I guess if Keary stayed on the ground while kicking and Soliola aimed up a fraction higher on the tackle you’d be calling it a blatant high shot?

Don’t tackle player with ball. Thanks, got it.

So Keary not giving himself enough room between the advancing devensive players in his desire to kick should be getting a penalty? Please. The opposition aren’t out there to make life comfortable for the opposition. Soliola was clearly attempting a tackle. In the kicking action Keary leaves the ground. If Keary decides not to kick and runs, Soliola would be lashed for not committing to playing what is in front of him.

Maybe when V’landys gets to the NRL he will pull the right rein (pun intended)

2 consecutive sets on the back of field position given by interference by a trainer.

Visual signal can’t be reversed by trying to yell over the top of 80k fans.

Roosters go back-to-back at 2019 NRL Grand Final

Maybe Keary should take a few more steps back from the defensive line or not run to the line then kick. The opposition aren’t out there to make life comfortable for the ‘superstar playmakers.’ Keary should not have been playing because of his proper grubby act last week.

Worse than the losing side’s coach- it was a bad look for him.
Maybe Thurston should have asked why his players are so dumb that they need constant coaching on the field?

Roosters go back-to-back at 2019 NRL Grand Final

It’s not just having a pocket ref, it’s having an earpiece to the bunker as well that the refereeing has got to such a pronounced state of indecision.

Yeah it was a stuff up the likes of which parody couldn’t replicate but Leilua did bomb a try by not passing to Rapana on the wing. Weighton obviously played the visual signal given and to try and then verbally reverse it in the din of 80k fans was never going to work as hoped.

What I found most perplexing, amongst a plethora of other contradictory rulings on almost identical plays, was the outcome from a Sydney Roosters trainer interfering in play. I thought 14 men on the field was a big no-no and despite all the previous column space dedicated to trainers extended time behind the attacking team’s line- yet here we are. It really was just a matter of time-and that time was only the GF of all games. That the NRL stuck their head in the sand on the issue for so long is condemning of the leadership and management of the game.

THROWBACK: The most controversial call in rugby league history?

The ATO has concessions for professional athletes because of their limited time earning big bucks. They are taxed completely different to the rest of us.

What's the value of loyalty, John Bateman?

Just remember that the ATO has concessions for professional athletes that lowers the usual tax obligations we mere mortals are supposed to adhere to because of their limited time earning the big bucks.

More fool Bateman for signing 3 years locked in, no linking to performance. Could’ve put a clause in his contract- not the Raiders fault his player agent at the time didn’t play a little hard ball.

A John Hancock is not to be taken lightly and nor should it be.

Maybe try and get a comment from Andrew Gee about salary cap overs!

Roosters into 2019 NRL grand final after stopping Storm

Big face palm, got dirty and reckless, swinging arm. Not surprisingly cited as ‘careless’ so not suspended. Storm obligingly took the opportunity for a free HIA replacement because Kaufusi’s ribs were busted anyways.

Won’t matter- Keary has hardly been lighting it up and his ankle is a liability going into such a testing game. Would be a shame for him to go down in the first 5 minutes of the GF, some would call it karma.

Luke Keary waits on charge sheet

Their attack has been clunky but you could put that down to the finals time defence that pressures the play a lot more. But it only takes those small things, and they do have the attacking strike power, for it to all click on any given day. Leilua is a frustrating enigma though.

Teddy didn’t argue one iota. And the box didn’t look at it as many times as the Whighton try the night before. That’s a win-win for mine.
