Supported them for a long time too, grew up in a West Coast family, ever since 92′ when I say next to someone called Leach who’s brother was selected already for the latest AFL team of the time.

As a West Australian Floyd, are hawks that hated amongst other Vic team’s supporters? So far I have seen nothing but disdain and disrespect for Freo amazing at some supporters.

Freo fans dare to dream under Ross Lyon

Are our wobbling days over? I hope so!!

Freo fans dare to dream under Ross Lyon

Had Saints looked after Ross he would have stuck around and rebuilt. What his plans were we will never know and I am sure he isn’t going to give Watters a helping hand and let him know where he is going wrong. Freo’s list has much better talent across the board than the Saints did when they were having a tilt. I think the recruiters and talent scouts at St Kilda are to blame. Maybe Ross, if he could have his time over he would do it differently. Luckily for Freo it seems he has learnt from it and is running the kids when he can.

Don’t forget the thrashing at the hands of the Bulldogs in 2010 when we did make the finals under Harvs. This at a time when the injuries were under control. The trouncing we received from the Cats in the semi of that year was as good as we were ever going to be. Rosich himself told me that Harvey at the end of his contract was never going to have it renewed so they acted whilst Ross was still available. If Harvey did really love Freo then he should be happy that we are now doing so well. As much as I like him, this success would never happen under him and his coaching on the run was never going to work.

Couldn’t agree more although I did hear Crackers Keenan say the other day that Harvey rang him up inquiring after any talent in the VFL and Crackers offered up the Name Barlow. Cant really trust him too much, he loves taking credit for everything.

Brad Lloyd and Chris Bond are to be thanked too. Lucky for Freo both are still on the pay role.

Everyone laughed at Harvey in late 2008/early 2009 when he said the list was dangerous. No one is laughing now, except Freo fans.

As a Freo fan I know we can overcome Sydney this Saturday but after seeing them play on the weekend it’s not going to be as easy as it might have seemed after their Hawks match. I still believe they are a better outfit without Tippett. Should be a good game either way.

Another difference, more so since Pav has returned, is our attacking potential. We can now kick the big scores needed for finals glory.

The Purple Haze: an irresistible force

Pretty sure this is Australia (we are talking about AFL aren’t we?) and a democracy. He can barrack for whoever he wants and call himself the mayor of Geelong if Ash so desires.

Maybe Ash is announcing to the world that just because he lives in Geelong he isn’t a sheep and supports the local team because that’s the done thing. Might have to remind you that people outside of Geelong are fans of your team.

The Purple Haze: an irresistible force

Cheers Richard. I am enjoying it. Pity some other fans aren’t. Which is why I wrote this article. I am Freo mad, I will be up in a few hours to attend the dawn service at Monument Hill in Freo, I wrote this in reply to so called supporters mouthing off and professing that they know better than the experts employed by the club. On some forums it has become unreadable without wanting to run a warm bath with some Lenard Cohen playing if you get my gist.

Has Fremantle changed too much for some fans?

Not so much recent success, more so the promise of success. Carn the farm.

Has Fremantle changed too much for some fans?

They were an amazing ride but to be taken seriously changes had to be made and I feel that we are on course, that the right changes have been made. I miss the fact that Freo players won’t be jumping into the crowd anytime soon. But that was a growing of age period, now it’s time for the serious stuff!!!

Has Fremantle changed too much for some fans?

I am not talking about a totalitarian state of affairs. Thought out critism is not what I was writing against. Just mindless brain diarrhea by some inconsiderate supporters who think they know better than people who are paid to make the hard choices.

Has Fremantle changed too much for some fans?

If anyone read my last article it it explains away all the nay sayers comments so I won’t enter into it again. http://www.theroar.com.au/2013/04/10/the-afls-great-west-hype/

Has Fremantle changed too much for some fans?

Thanks for the words of wisdom. I would find it much easier to follow your team if most fans were as magnanimous as you.

The AFL's great west hype

I am pretty sure he will be back to full training in four weeks.

The main thing that strikes me with your comparison of good players is the age difference. Of the players I listed, Crowley is the oldest at 29, then Mundy at 27. The majority are at the start of their career. I am pretty sure that one quarter of the 22 named today were recruited in 2008. So apart from Pavlich, MacPharlin (bookends) and Sandilands, who we can obviously play and win without, the remaining squad will around and round abouts the right level for some time.

Personally, I enjoy watching the Docker’s new game style. I agree that some Saint’s games were a little boring to watch but I don’t feel that the same tag can be applied to Freo under Ross. I think there has been, so far, a good mix of defensive pressure and offensive strikes. Watching the Saints under Ross play the Bombers reminded me very much of a rugby union match. Watch tomorrow night and judge for yourself if this is still the case.

Taz to go down round 1. Poor bugger.
