Correct. I went to the same high school as Cooper, and trust me there’s nothing particularly fancy about it. I’d describe it as a middle class/working class private school.

We need to talk about Cooper Cronk

Yep, despite that I thought we were making progress from the Deans era into a team that could, eventually, challenge the top teams again. Our shape and attacking intent were much better at such an early stage with a new coach, so while we didn’t get the results I thought we were heading in the right direction.

I thought we made some really positive inroads into the All Blacks dominance last season, while McKenzie’s coaching regime was in its infancy. I agree it’s a massive leap up as the ABs have so many gears that they can switch to, however we’re strong ourselves and are only getting stronger.

I think it’ll will have the total opposite effect. Unburdened by the captaincy and steadily building towards full fitness and form, I think Rocky will thrive.

Cracking read mate, well done!

SA 9 AUS 14

Well that was a bit of a strange game from both sides. SA never really got going, they had a lot of ball gifted to them and couldn’t make the most of it. Australia however and plenty of chances but simply could not hold on to that pill when it mattered, ie always!

Based on this, I don’t think NZ will be too worried about either team as they march towards another Tri Nations title. What did you think Roarers – how did YOU see the game?

I’d also like to say a big thank you for tuning in, and I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it!

Another penalty to Sa at the ensuing lineout against Sekope Kepu. Again SA kick for touch – a penalty goal can’t help them now.

As the rain begins to come down SA win the lineout and attack. BUT Danie Roussouw knocks it on, and…

AUSTRALIA WIN!!!!

Everyone is looking out on their feet here. Scrum on halfway won by SA, and they spin it wide. GREAT tackle by A Faingaa there.

SA still with the ball, meeting fierce Aus resistance. BUT penalty to SA for not rolling away, and they kick for touch.

SA take the restart, and put up the up and under! FIERCE fight at the breakdown, but Aus win it. It’s going to be a crazy finish methinks.

Genia box kicks, goes out about halfway for an SA lineout with about 4 mins left on the clock.

Scrum right on SA 22m line, Aus looking to attack.

Good scrum, strong push forwards! Penalty for Sa collapse! Well I’ll be! And the Wallabies are taking the points from right in front.

OConner pops it over! 3 more points to Aus!

Aus kick the ball through and Cooper nails Aplon. Cooper! Who’d believe that. It’s a knock on against SA though.

Aus win scrum and charge it up. BUT knock on. Boy I’m sick of seeing those.

OConner nails the penalty!

Aus regain the ball form the restart, but it’s not going anywhere and it’s a scrum to Aus. Scrum won strongly, and Copper pops it long. Aplon juggles and returns the kick. Aus run it back, but are pinged for diving into the breakdown.

Cheeky chip by Butch, and OConner knocks his catch into touch.

SA win the lineout and du Preez boots it. Cooper boots it deep back and Aplon sprays his return. Lineout Aus about 10m into Sa territory.

Samo is on! Have to say I’m a big fan. Aus win scrum and clear the ball to halfway for an SA lineout.

Aus win it though, and after a good run down the side with a sharp break by Digby and Ant Faingaa, Beale knocks it on. Scrum SA.

Steyn nails it! 3 points to SA!

SA wins the restart and take a dash down the sideline for good progress. SA spill the ball but it’s allowed to play on! SA knock it on again on the try line and Aus get a scrum. PHEW! Busy bit of action there.

Aus kick and it’s SA on the attach though Habana. Spies gets straight through with a nice run but brought down on the 22m. Poor kick there by SA, mark taken by Aus but ref was playing advantage.

SA to stake the shot at goal from right in front of the sticks.

Aus take the restart, Sharpe runs it up strongly but SA turn it over. Cheeky kick in behind Aus players, Aus regather, but double knock on and it’s a scrum to Aus.

Lineout to SA, won by Matfield. du Prezzes clearing kick is charged down, ball grounded by SA in their try zone. Kick off restart.

SA have ball after restart and pop the ball deep in Aus territory. Aus boot it back, and regather at the following breakdown.

Digby runs it down the line, gee he’s looking sharp again. BUt Aus get penalised and SA win a welcome penalty.

OConner sprays conversion wide.

Aus again on the attck from the restart, but knock it on on SA’s 22m line. Pretty inept stuff, it has to be said.

Scrum to SA, wjo win it and boot it long. OConner regathers and kicks back.

Kicking duel here, but Cooper runs, breaks and puts AAC through a nice gap! Aus on the attach on SA’s 22m line, trucking it up in the forwards.

Finally spin it wide, OConnor wrong foots his man and puts McCabe OVER! Try Australia! Kick to come.

48′ South Africa 6 – Australia 8

And we’re back! SA take ball but knock on as they run it out. Scrum to Aus on SA 22m. Penalty against Sa for collapse, OConnor to take a shot at goal. And he…

NAILS IT!

Thanks Mark, I really appreciate it. No, really, I’m bloody flat out here! Haha. Shoddy wifi connection REALLY isn’t helping my cause either :p

Half time.

Right. Now I get the chance to relax a bit – that was pretty full on! Australia have been looking sharp when they’ve held onto the ball. The problem is, they seem to refuse to hold on! Knock ons everywhere. SA meanwhile look a lot better with their A team back, and are just slowly doing what they usually do so well.

Aus have dominated the possession, but nothing to show for it on the scoreboard. Quite lucky to only be down by 6 points I’d say.

What are your thoughts Roarers?

Springboks vs Wallabies live scores, blog

Aus win the ball back in the ensuing play, with Habana eventually pinged for hands in the ruck. As half time beckons, Aus to take the shot at goal.

OConnor lines it up from wide on the right hand side and 47m out, and strikes WELL! BUT not well enough, shaves the upright.

SA regather and run, making huge metres! Now deep in Aus territory, but Aus regains the ball and attacks right back. Aus attacking brilliantly on the SA line, but knock on and we go into halftime.
