I think spurs will miss Harry’s man management skills. As you say, the squad is fairly disorganised, but each player would of known their role come match day, and he enabled them to play some great attacking football. AVB left his Chelsea squad fairly bewildered at some of his team selections. While you can appreciate him putting his own personal stamp on a club, he simply doesn’t have the resources he had available to him at Chelsea to get offside with any of his key players. Missing out on the champions league may turn out to be a blessing in disguise for AVB and Tottenham. Even if he doesn’t lose Modric, the squad is too thin to keep up with the likes of Man U and City when the games start coming thick and fast. It was around the busy Christmas period that Spurs title charge fell away and they ended up in the scrap for 4th.
It will be interesting to see how they go this year. They are definately capable of a top four finish but alot will depend on injuries and AVB’s tactics.

EPL preview 2012-2013: Tottenham

Just about an impossible task. I think the Blues team of the early 00’s had some of the best on field chemistry of the NRL era, and i could definately see Ryan Girdler getting a start, along with maybe Bryan Fletcher. A smoky for the bench would be Scott Hill. He could play in the back row, but was a great ball player and kicker in general play which seen him often start at 5/8th.
Coach: Phil Gould.

Selecting the greatest NRL side of all time

I think one Joey Barton might edge Bellamy in the angriest man in football stakes.
Although Carroll’s aerial ability is his main strength, he is also pretty handy with his feet. I think he will still have an important part in Rodger’s plans this season, although it may be in more of a substitutes role.
Rodger’s is also looking to bring Joe Allen to the reds from Swansea. He knows the systems Rodger’s likes and would be great with Lucas and Gerrard in midfield. Charlie Adam will need to improve from last season too, otherwise he may find his stay at Anfield is only a short one. I’d say he’ll give most players a chance but we won’t see his stamp on things till after the January transfew window.

How will Rodgers save Liverpool?

They are also expected to sign one of either Craig Bellamy or Jermaine Defoe, both of which would command a starting spot. Offloading Joey Barton after his final day thuggery will also be high on the agenda. I think they still may struggle up front. On his day Cisse is capable of some magic. But with Zamora and Johnson both deemed surplus to requirements at Fulham, are their careers on the wane?

EPL preview - Queens Park Rangers

This so called whinging stems from sheer desperation. The blues faithful are entitled to air their concerns over the refereeing standards, or lack there of, in what is regarded as the marquee series in rugby league. Would the maroons fans of taken the moral high ground had the try been disallowed and NSW eventually won the game? And it would seem the salt was rubbed deeper into that 6 year, gaping wound, by the fact that the try scorer is in fact a new south welshman!
Even the most one eyed of blues fans can admit that Queensland have had far more talent in their ranks over recent years. But when the maroons are far from gracious in victory, how can they expect the blues to be anything but bitter in defeat.

Are NSW and their fans really whingers?

Chelsea are in the process of looking for a appropriate site in south west London to build a brand new state of the art 60000 capacity stadium. Shows Abramovich is definately in for the long haul. They jostle for support in London because of the crowded market, but with their on field success they can generate that global support which will keep the money coming in.

Is Chelsea's Abramovic finally satisfied?

A decent looking team, but i also disagree with Koscielny. His stats look pretty solid, but arsenal let in 49 goals, which is 8th in the league. The gunners defence has come in for a lot of critisism this season, and although Koscielny has no doubt been a big improvement, he still doesn’t read the game or play the offside trap as well as a John Terry. Honourable mentions in central defence could also go to Ryan Shawcross and Brede Hangeland. I also think Joe Allen and Leon Britton from Swansea deserve a mention for their phenomenal pass completion rates which are right up their with your Iniesta’s and Scholes’.

My EPL team of the season

The players they have are not good enough for touch and pass football. It seems the gameplan has been to try and feed Suarez early and hope for some magic. If all else fails, put high balls into the box and hope Carrol can get on the end of it. The distribution has not been good enough for either.
You do wonder how many of this current squad would be a target for Europes other big clubs. Suarez has the talent to play for a Barca or Madrid, but would they take a risk on such a controversial figure?
If Kenny was to be shown the door, there is a lack of managerial talent on offer who could replace him. Brendan Rodgers at Swansea is earning high praises and has the swans playing a style compared to the possesiion play of Barcelona. They brought Kenny back, could they bring Rafa back??

Dalglish satisfied with Liverpool mediocrity?

Lucas was a massive loss. His consistency and ability to win the ball back in midfield was sorely missed.
There is speculation that Liverpool are in the market for Fulhams Clint Dempsey for next season. While he is a decent player, a club the size of Liverpool should really be aiming higher. Hazard and Cavani are on the wanted list for most of Europe’s big clubs, so if the reds could pull off either it would be a huge signal of intent. A top four finish next year would be a remarkable effort, but should be the minimum rerquirement for the Anfield giants.

Dalglish satisfied with Liverpool mediocrity?

Argentina definately have a better chance of winning the world cup than Portugal, however this should not define the careers of these players. The champions league is the best club competition in the world, and its standard has never been higher. Barcelona are the current champions, with Messi the jewel in their European crown. They have reached the semi-finals for 6 consecutive seasons and Messi has been the driving force behind that success.
Ronaldo is already a champions league winner with Manchester United, and sealed a world record 80 million pound move to Madrid after that success. His arrival at the Bernabau coincided with Real regaining the La Liga title.
Although world cup success would hold these players careers in much higher esteem, their success at club level should be taken into account. It is hard to compare different eras, but lets just enjoy watching these two footballing freaks while we can.

Will football's finest modern players ever win a World Cup?
