Spot on Pim, we only have 2 young Aussies training with a German 2nd division team. 🙂

When the pressure is on the young players will step up.
There is enormous talent in our young Aussie footballers, they just haven’t been blooded properly by Holger, as he himself and the FFA are under enormous pressure just to qualify.

If our backs are to the wall and we need to score in our last game to qualify, I sure players like Rukya, Leckie, Holman, Kruse or even Bulut will make the goal.

Once again Pim’s assessment of Australian football will be proven to be a tad on the pessimistic side.

Verbeek predicts tough times for Socceroos

Much anticipation in Sydney.

The game is already sold out to the public.
Only way to get tickets now is to become a member of either club and hope there are a few club member spots left, which is what FFA was hoping for.

Wanderers aim to punish Sydney FC

What does that say, when you aren’t playing well, most of your players are too old and your younger players aren’t good enough yet – and we still win and look good to qualify for Brazil 2014.

Any more critics of the move to Asian football?

From disaster to delight: Socceroos snatch vital win

football has finally arrived in Sydney

the Sydney daily telegraph has changed the name of the football tab from “soccer” to “Football” to make it consistent with their EPL reporting.

What now for A-League's struggling heavyweights?

good point

Roar still playing very well – a great squad or a great coach that won 2 toilet seats?

What now for A-League's struggling heavyweights?

while something is growing strongly the outlook is good . . .

in some areas football is already number one, just look at the player registrations and the international ratings figures – not just melb

What now for A-League's struggling heavyweights?

Big crowd for the opening game and the record opening round attendance of 80k already in danger of being broken.

Some good football and some well taken goals following great passages of play, but still a lot of improvement in the A-League with some wasted chances and silly mistakes – perhaps they are a bit rusty after such a long off season, but these have to be eliminated.

Hooray for the return of the A-League

Ange lost his first 3 games with the Roar and went on to win two titles in a row.

He wouldn’t have been happy with that performance particularly when his game is based on crisp accurate passing and plenty of movement to create space.

A lot of improvement needed and maybe Victory have it in them.

Good opening crowd for the A-League and good atmosphere.
Aloisi must be thrilled with his first victory as a manager.

Victory coach happy with nothing in loss

Its a funny start to his A-League career over in `NZ.

The momentum is still there and Sydney will give him a warm welcome, but wonder how he goes at Wellington and his impact on the game.

Important year for Wellington and their future in the A-League.

Quality vital for Del Piero

No he wouldn’t.

Marquees and marketing give A-League momentum

What’a that supposed to mean Ian, you deluded fool.

And compared to last year’s sponsorship when they couldn’t get any sponsors its a 1,000% improvement.

Then add the increased memberships, ticket sales and merchandise and the multimillion dollar free world wide advertising campaign for the A-League and A-League games being beamed live across Europe – is that “nothing”.

You are “nothing” but a fool or a troll . . . or both.

Marquees and marketing give A-League momentum

Telegraph will report on football . . . or else!

Marquees and marketing give A-League momentum

Its going to be a great season and can’t wait.

How much can Adelaide improve?
I think they have made some excellent signings and will hit the ground running after their ACL campaign.
Neumann and Carrusca will light up Hindmarsh.

They will finish a lot better than 8th and challenge for the semis at least – top 4.

Vidosic to get a call up for le Socceroos.

A-League preview: Where to for Adelaide United?

Griffo,
100,000 jerseys @ 160 ea = $16M

If they sell their forecast of 30,000 it will gross $4.8M.

Sydney FC plan big arrival for Del Piero

apaway,
seems there are a lot of fans who have never attended an A-League game before, who are buying SFC memberships because of ADP too.

Sure Harry is well known in Australia, but if you know anything about football you know who ADP is, right round the world.

Top 10 A-League marquee players of all time

Increased Shirt Sales 26,000 x $160 = $4.16M per year
Increased other gear and club merchandising = 600K
Increased average home attendances 12,000 x 13 x 30 = $4.68M per season
Increased ground takings – food, beverages and merchandise 12,000 x 20 x 13 = $3.12M
Increased sponsorsips = 800K
Increased corporate box sales = 400K per season
Increased tourism/hospitality from interstate/overseas fans 5000 x 13 x 500 = $32.5M
Free Worldwide publicity and advertising = $10M
Other revenue = $1M

Not bad for a $2M per season investment

A-League must make most out of Del Piero

Can’t wait to confiscate those Juventus and Italian banners from the soccer hooligans and wade into them with batons flailing, attack dogs and capsicum spray.

That’ll be our sport mate.

Del Piero shot in arm for football: Emerton

If Folau’s signing was worth $10 million in free publicity alone, then how much publicity is this worth to Sydney FC, the A-League, the FFA, Australian football and migrants/tourists thinking of coming to Australia?

This story has been told to every media outlet in the world.
