Good to see Sbu Nkosi in the mix, I think he is a devastating finisher. Intact the entire back-division looks solid, apart from Warren Gelant and Makazole Mapimpi. Damian Willemse and Kurwin Bosch offer more versatility and position options.
I have no qualms about our pack. I believe ever man is worth his weight.
Kolisi returns as Springboks name World Cup squad
In that case we might as well change the name of planet Earth, because it might uhm…….offend the Skrulls that secretly lives amongst us.
The Crusaders were a religious group of knights fighting another religious group of Muslim soldiers. It’s in the history books now, and New Zealand is based on western laws and democracy.
Muslim immigrants should respect and follow the laws of the land their in, as it is stated in the holy Quran. Henceforth, the changing of the Crusaders name is ridiculous. The Crusaders has nothing to do with the views of one anti-Muslim extremist.
NZ government backs Crusaders on potential name change
I can’t wait to see Aphelele Fassi go in Super Rugby. Last season in the CC he was by far the quickest back, made Aphiwe Dyantyi look like a slow retiring old man.
Unpacking Super Rugby: South African conference
This suspension is very harsh, but still, it’s no big deal. South Africa can field its under/19 at this point. That’s how garbage Pakistan has been on this tours.
I wish we were playing India instead.
Faf du Plessis handed one-Test suspension by the ICC
Very good win in the end, although I was on my last nerve during the entire match. The Springboks should beat Wales this year.
Scotland's breathtaking try not enough as Springboks prevail
I think 12 teams are a bit too much. An 8 team, with 2 groups of 4 round robin followed by semi-finals then final would suffice.
Also a second division for teams ranked between 9-16 could be introduced, with the winner gaining promotion to to first disivion. Both tournaments could run over a course of a week.
World Rugby exploring brand new 'league of nations' tournament
I read in a South African newspaper article today that Rassie is ignoring his transformation obligations by only selecting 3 players of colour.
That should be the least of his worry.
With the Springboks side announced, there are some surprises
No doubt Folau is a good Union player. But as a Springbok supporter, I really hope he plays on Saturday.
Folau '50-50' to return against Springboks
“Only Australia can do that, no other country would dare weaken their top side.”
Clearly you’ve never heard of transformation David and the quota system in the Springbok team. But anyway the Wallabies should be too strong for the Books at Suncorp, good luck.
Michael Cheika almost bit the bullet with his Wallabies squad. Here's the XV he should now pick
Buddy ol’ pal, I did not say Juventus is a lowly ranked team, I said the Italian league is. Perhaps I should have stated that CR7 should have opted for a move to the Barclay’s Premiership.
Manchester United has lost its identity, but the failure to form a new one is a far bigger concern
Cristiano Ronaldo should have gone to Manchester United instead of Juventus. If not for only allowing himself the opportunity to play the returning hero’s role, but also to bolster his career with more acculates.
Manchester United would also have benefitted from the expert prowess of the former Madrid meastro. Alas, sadly I suspect Ronaldo won’t ever reach the hights he enjoyed during his whole career in the lowly ranked Italian League.

Never really rated Cheika, but then again my lack of prior knowledge of him could be forgiven…….thankyou for the in depth article David.
As an outsider looking inwards, it’s clear to see (or the obvious reason) that Mr. Cheika inherited a good group of core players within the Wallabies squad from the hard-work done by Robbie Deans.
The case for Michael Cheika
Hi Jonty, another broken hearted Bok boytjie here…….I don’t know about you but if the Springboks started to win, I’d be over the moon with unusual happiness. I’d enjoy every victory, and would find it a bonus if the Boks won playing great attractive rugby.
I would sell that yoga mat for cheap corn beer and biltong, walk around bare chested and smiling ear to ear after we have beaten Japan…..or even Italy.
Are the All Blacks still happy when they win?
I don’t know, I think it might be a good idea. Some kids, here in South Africa are afraid to test and perform complicated handling moves, afraid of getting hurt in tackles.
Some kids focus on the would-be impact of getting tackle, ensuring minimum fun. I believe at that age, kids need to learn a lot of skills, as rugby is a very complicated games. That’s where they find comfort and confidence in exacting these skills.
If we take some of the small players from the best national side, New Zealand. You’ll find amazing talented artists…eg, Damian McKenzie, the Barratt brothers….obviously acquired their skills from a young age. Tag-Rugby or touch-rugby are clearly the institutions.
Some US rugby players lack basic skills of rugby, like long passes, weaker arm passes, long accurate punts or having a smart rugby brain, simply because they had no opportunity learning these skills as kids.
French Rugby bans tackling until under 13s

I never thought I’d see the day that the Springboks would slip to 7th. Although its good to see Harry is still optimistic about the Boks, as am I. I’m still a very hopeful supporter.
The Springboks must change if they want to contend
There’s plenty of factors that contribute to our national team declining, mainly social and political. Anyone that lives in South Africa can contest to that.
But that’s an issue for another article for another time.
The Springboks must change if they want to contend
Handre Pollard tends to stand too flat as a first receiver. There’s no forward penetration when he takes the ball to the line, and I’m sure you know it’s hard to sell a dummy from a standing position.
Jonty, I admit I ommited F.Louw and Eben out of frustration, but the Beast is well past his sell by date. A blend of experienced players to accommodate the young fresh talented players is what’s needed, so I’d go out on a limb and pick the du Preez twins and Kwagga Smith to cover the locks and eight man. I believe that would give our backrow more mobility.
Keep Malherbe and Mostert and keep Kolisi as captain. In the back line I’d bring in Patrick Lambie as flyhalf and change to entire centre pair. Bring in Voster and Janse van Rensburg. I also think we need to bring back the Punisher to add fuel and muscle on the right wing.
It’s a very Lions looking back line but what else can we do?
The Springboks must change if they want to contend
Don’t worry, this year the Springboks have been under an illusion concerning Rassie Erasmus. The Wallabies are still way better off……so perspective.
How indiscipline is killing the Wallabies
I understand that knock out games is more of a lottery, especially between the top cricketing nations. West Indians could just as easily defeat NZ. Or Pakistan could defeat Aus and vice-versa. Yesterday SA could have been on the chopping block, but it wasn’t to be. SA could have lost but we didn’t, and it was my absolute believe that we won’t. I respect everyone’s opinions and I don’t hate any team/country, but it’s not in my DNA to be level headed and hoping we’ll win. It’s not in me to look at statistics and past performance. We are in the here and now, so please don’t fault me when I blindly believe we will win. My Saffa arrogents is ampified. If you want to remain objective about your team’s chances, then your just a spectator and not a fan.
Choke on this: Proteas end Sangakkara and Jayawardene's ODI careers
That’s too harsh Biltong. We all know how objective you are, but when will you start believing in our team? When we finally win the world cup? The definition of a passionate fan is blindly following and believing your team/country is the best in the world. Objectivity can take a hike. Now fortunately for me I’m not delutional, the Proteas are infact world beaters. South Africa has the highest winning-ratio in ODI ever. Now we’re slamming our knockout curse by laying on the choke on our oppnents instead. We will win this World Cup, better believe that.
Choke on this: Proteas end Sangakkara and Jayawardene's ODI careers
Oh David, how can you say Dale Steyn isn’t expressive anymore? I bet you wouldn’t say it to his face. And as far as de Villiers not doing anything in this tournament so far…….like I said in another article, this is a long world cup mate, just wait, don’t count your chickens too soon. South Africa is a very good team, they will fire.
Gayle and de Villiers ready for war at the SCG
This is one long World cup mate, so please wait and don’t count your chickens too soon. South Africa is a very good team, India played well and defeated us fair and square. But it’s very seldom that SA plays so bad twice in world cups. That was our one to lose this world cup. Now that’s over and done.
South Africa's depth issues prove a stumbling block in World Cup bid
Mmmm….very interesting team.
So they’ve picked the best Flyhalf in the world to play at Fullback?
The best Fullback in the world to play Wing?
An aging SBW.
An injured Brodie.
A scrumhalf that’s half the player he used to be.
It’s just an opinion, we all have one.
