not sure if naming Sav Rocca is in the spirit of things (same could be said of Pike I guess)
what stands out is that the most successful team of the last 4 years only got one player in there
and the Swans with two GF appearances, 5 and 6 years after this draft, got none
How well did the 2000 draftees end up going?
I don’t understand why this is news, we all understood he was going to vote for his own nation
Bin Hammam likely to snub Australian World Cup bid
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but all those teams look a little light on
What will the Socceroos look like in 2014?
there is something exciting about flares
you want excitement, you ought to see me in my tight 70s style flares
The A-League doesn't care about active fans
Im disappointed that my excellent suggestions for theme songs werent taken up
It's official: the Gold Coast Suns are set to rise
thank goodness FIFA has an Ethics Committee
Australian 2022 World Cup bid cleared of wrongdoing
dont understand the starting premise of this thread
woulda thought that the NRL is more than healthy
Ive read many reports that say the NRL outrates the AFL
Shouldn't the A-League and NRL work as allies?
you have to excuse figjam, in his exuberance to impress us with his knowledge of the world, he sort of shows his true colours
Time to reinvent the Socceroos nickname

A solo Akermanis gave the Bulldogs no choice

Time to reinvent the Socceroos nickname
I remember the Coodabeens talking about this very subject.

Nicknames around the world are not as popular as here and the States
I would have thought the majority of NTs at the world cup had nick names
when I grew up, virtually every football periodical I read, and there were stacks, had the word “soccer” in it
honestly, no one anywhere gets as uptight with the word soccer as Australian soccer fans, most of whom have only followed the game the last few years
Time to reinvent the Socceroos nickname
yes, but the ACT does not have the population of the state of Tasmania right now
the pop. of Tassie is a tick over 500,000
Does the AFL care about teams in Tasmania and Darwin?
not that its important, but the ACT does not have the population of Tassie, although it probably gets close if you count the surrounding districts within a radius of about 100km
what is true is that Canberra-Queanbeyan have a population much greater than either of the two largest cities in Tassie
Does the AFL care about teams in Tasmania and Darwin?
good point
you reminde me that I remember reading about how the AFL entertained the Chinese vice-Pres at a footy game

AFL seeking Chinese interest
this is just my uneducated guess, so please dont read too much into it
people raised purely on football really struggle to get their head around aussie rules, but people raised on basketball might actually be able to make it to first base, at least understand its a game where you’re allowed to use your hands
AFL seeking Chinese interest
If anyone wants to see the very depths of racism out on the football pitch, they need go no further than the Serie A and La Liga.
AFL in the running on a global stage
