Did you watch the game or did you just have a look at his stats? I’ll remind you that he left the field injured & never returned so didn’t play the full 80mins.
It’s his impact in defence that makes him a standout.
Parramatta young gun Tepai Moeroa has a bright future ahead
Sometimes I feel like they expect that 🙂
50 grand for a tweet? Criminals get off lighter
It wasn’t a personal message, it was a tweet. It was public information that anyone can see.

“nor Inglis’ herculean strength and blinding speed” – have you seen the size of Hayne recently? Going by the tries that he holds up, I would put him in the same ‘herculena strength’ class as Inglis.
Yes, he has lost some speed now that he’s bigger but I wouldn’t say Inglis is faster than him.
Hayne is a talent, not a future Immortal
The NRL do a lot of great things within the game but for some reason they don’t seem to promote any of it. I don’t understand why.
I know bad news sells so that’s what the media runs with but the NRL could be doing a lot more to promote the great things they do.
NRL fail to get the fundamentals right
I’m sure he would have had a one strike and you’re out clause written into his contract. Whilst it was not illegal, it doesn’t look good on himself or the club.
If it had been a player with no prior incidents the outcome may have been a little different. How many chances does one player need?
Was Todd Carney's punishment too harsh?
I can’t believe someone has even suggested this. I totally agree with you Adam. The guy captains a team to one successful origin campaign and he’s suddenly a hero. What about all the years he didn’t succeed?
The whole senior playing group have been through just as much, he’s not a hero. There are other players who would deserve one more than him!
A statue for Paul Gallen...really?
Parramatta may have a lot of injuries but lucky for them, they have a lot of depth in those positions with excpetion of the hooker position. The replacements are all regular first graders so I wouldn’t really call it a crisis.
Injury crisis hits resurgent Eels
It really furstrates me when they remind the players to play the ball with their foot after every tackle! It’s an entry level skill, they shouldn’t have to be reminded of it. Just penalise them straight away!
NRL referees: With control comes respect
If a professional sports star does something wrong, parents should be telling their kids why it was wrong. Accountability needs to be on the parents to teach their kids right and wrong, not NRL players.
Footy stars heroes yes, but role models?
Agree with you. The junior competition has very strict rules around head knocks. Hopefully this instils the right culture into them young and they bring that attitude to first grade. I think we’ll see the culture start to shift once these junior players start coming through into the NRL. It will take a while but it will happen eventually.
The dismal state of concussions in the NRL
When I went down to Melbourne for the Origin 2 years ago there was no hype in Melbourne. You walked around the city and wouldn’t even know the game was on.
Maybe being down there feels like there’s no hype but there’s definitely lots of hype up in Sydney and I suspect in QLD there is too.
As a New South Welshman there’s nothing better than the lead up to Origin, especially when it’s being played here. I look forward to it every year.
There's nothing original in the current Origin era
I feel they brought in the on field decision for video referrals because they have something to fall back on if the video referee gets the decision wrong.
We have less tolerance for video referee’s getting decisions wrong and now this gives them an excuse.
Really, it’s changing the benefit of doubt decision from the video ref to the on field ref. It’s essentially the same thing, just hidden behind a different process to eliminate complaints of wrong calls. The rule change was all a PR stunt really.
Expecting refereeing howlers a sad indictment on the NRL
Hayne injured himself in his first tackle. You could clearly see him grimace every time he got tackled & couldn’t pass the ball properly. That’s why he was nowhere to be seen
NSW Blues should ride on Hayne’s coat-tails in Origin opener
Agree about the utility. There’s no need to have a spot saved for a utility when you have Lewis in your team. He can cover a large amount of positions so it’s a waste of a bench spot
NSW Blues should ride on Hayne’s coat-tails in Origin opener
Firstly, don’t call me young lady.
Secondly, those stats mean nothing without any analysis behind it. Who’s to say NSW players haven’t had more injuries which have resulted in them having to pick more players?
I love that this topic has created great debate & knew it would fire Queenslanders up. Go the Blues! 🙂
Exposing the myth of Queensland's pick-and-stick culture
I saw a photo of Hodkinson in a Maroons jersey when he was younger. That means we can also add something borrowed to that list 🙂
Imagine the uproar if Hodkinson has a blinder for the Blues. I can just imagine the headlines north of the border now.
Something old and something new for the NSW Blues
Couldn’t agree with you (and Gus I suppose) more. Hayne defiitely has the ability to win us the game. For some reason though, he’s never fully utlilised at Origin level. He needs to be allowed to play the same role as he does at Parramatta.

I’m flattered that you remember my articles.
