That “kid” qualifies for Tonga in every sport on earth.

Samoa World Cup official squad: Suaalii IN as dark horses become legit title contenders with star-studded team

Not even close to true. Every Rugby league player at the World Cup would be eligible for the country they’re playing for in every sport on earth. But nice story….

International rugby league a priority right now? Are you joking?

The heritage players in the RLWC would be eligible for those nations in every sport on earth., yet only rugby league cops it for using the grandparent rule.

International rugby league a priority right now? Are you joking?

Favourites to lose by 50? What makes you think they could beat the warriors at their own game? Ridiculous statement.

Can the All Blacks play rugby league?

Ponga is a rugby league junior who played union at school. He even played league in New Zealand when he moved back there as a child and has been on league scholarships since the age of 12. The myth that he was poached from Union is not true.

Can the All Blacks play rugby league?

All three are rugby league juniors though who just played rugby union because of the school they went to.

Can the All Blacks play rugby league?

Of the 400 odd comments on this ridiculous thread, this is the worst. Your user name is not justified. NRL players are some of the best footballers on the planet and the kangaroos have had the best ‘rugby’ players in the history of both codes. I almost want this ridiculous concept to go ahead so pompous union supporters and the mediocre players that play that sport can both “get squished”!

Can the All Blacks play rugby league?

You mean play for a country they have heritage and bloodlines with, which they would qualify for in every other sport on earth?

How will the Kangaroos and Kiwis look in 2025?

Clipper wins. Game, set, match!

The thing no one wants to say about Israel Folau

Buzz has been making up lies and exaggerating stories to create crisis in the sport he makes a living from. He is a bottom feeder, along with paul Kent and dean Ritchie. They are not rugby league fans, they are gossip columnists who damage the sport.

2018: The year rugby league turned on Buzz Rothfield

What a great story. Rugby league is incredibly lucky to have people like you involved Robert. Following your progress with great interest!

Taking rugby league to the other side of the world

If you aren’t threatened, why do rugby union types always go out of their way to undermine rugby league in the media?

Sorry, but the Rugby League World Cup doesn't mean anything to me

It will be massive news in england, especially up north. I lived in Leeds for a year, rugby league has a large following. It’s not a mainstream sport, we know that but it has a large following of passionate fans who will go nuts if England win.

Sorry, but the Rugby League World Cup doesn't mean anything to me

There is no place for suburban grounds come semi final time. Instead of the sport retreating back to local parks, we should be looking at ways to increase crowds for semis in these stadiums.

Also, if you replace manly, Penrith and Cronulla with tigers, bulldog and dragons there are probably record crowds for week 1 finals. Nowhere near the crisis people are making it out to be.

Greenberg: No return to suburban finals

Have any proof of that or are you just making things up because you dislike rugby league?

Greenberg: No return to suburban finals

The majority of weeks the nrl is the highest rating sport on free to air and pretty much every week Fox league outdated fox footy (sic).

NRL left red-faced after embarrassing finals turnout

And it’s grown immensely in 20-30 years. As it will do so in the future. Great to see international rugby league growing! Loved the 1995, 2000, 2008 and 2013 world cups. 2017 will be even better!

The World Cup can save us from an annus mediocre - if we let it

You mean 400000 and thexhundreds of thousands watching on tv?
A bigger World Cup grows the sport, which in turn grows the nrl. You said you’re a diehard, true nrl fan remember? Not really a rugby league fan though are you?

The World Cup can save us from an annus mediocre - if we let it

So what? At least they are growing the sport in Lebanon and giving players valuable experience down under. There will still be 17 proud Lebanese men playing for them.

The World Cup can save us from an annus mediocre - if we let it

How do you know they havnt been to those countries?
What is proper rugby league? You don’t like nsw and Sydney cups either?

Doesn’t sound like you like rugby league at all. Sounds like you may have an interest in the nrl, but not rugby league.

The World Cup can save us from an annus mediocre - if we let it

Even it was 250000, that is still hundreds of thousands. It will be over 400k though, just like the last tournament. Plus hundreds of thousands more watching on tv.

The ‘aussies’ playing for Fiji are also Fijian. It is possible to have more than one nationality you know.

The World Cup can save us from an annus mediocre - if we let it

Have you spoken to them? How would you know? Watch the games and then tell me they aren’t. You’ll enjoy it, you like rugby league right?

The World Cup can save us from an annus mediocre - if we let it

I lived in the north of England. Football is king of course, nobody is arguing that. Rugby league has a big following though, it’s just struggles for mainstream media support.

The World Cup can save us from an annus mediocre - if we let it

Over 400k people attended the last one in the uk. EVERY team has home grown players, stop trolling. Players qualify in exactly the same way as other international sports. You conventionally seem to dismiss countries such as France, png, Fiji, Wales, USA which have a fair amount of home grown talent. Are you arguing that the players in the Lebanese, Samoan and Tongan teams won’t be Lebanese, Samoan and Tongan?
There will be home grown Italians and Scottish players, not a huge amount but a number have been named in the training squads.

Nobody is claiming it is as big as other sports but it is growing.
Why does it bother you so much?

The World Cup can save us from an annus mediocre - if we let it

Absolutely it is a worry. Scheduling, choice of venue, negative media, terrible admin all have played a part in the ill feeling around at the moment. There are definitely a lot of problems that need to be addressed.
