Buddy has always done whatever is needed of him by the team. He is the ultimate team player.
The quality of finals football so far makes me weep with joy.

AFL Finals Focus: The Swans needed to find a way past mighty May. Buddy the decoy was how they did it

I’d love it if players, when on the wrong end of a bad decision, made the “I’m placing you on report” sign, so their club’s videographers could quickly find the bit of footage for their follow up complaints.

BRETT GEEVES: 'Nonsensical' moment the ump love-in brutally ended - and only 10 vodka Red Bulls can set things straight

Ok, I thought the Hawkins mark should have been a free kick against, but, I also thought the big Brissie forward got away with a couple that were similar (maybe not as blatant but still shoved in the back) earlier in the game. I reckon they were holding the line to an agreed pre-fame policy….

AFL Friday Footy Fix: No place like home for the Cats... but Harris Andrews should have 'done a Grimes'

Pakistan tour will be fascinating to watch. No seaming for Bolland but hopefully he can reverse swing. Havent really seen Swepson, but I read he has a decent wrong-un, and I hope moves a bit sideways, because that I think is the key on a slow paced wicket.

I’m sure the Pakistani’s will be going out of their way to be hospitable to entice others back. If I didn’t have kids and an albatross-like-mortgage I would be very tempted to pop over….

Will Australia be able to cope with spin-friendly conditions in Pakistan?

Totally agree with the article. As a supporter of Swans I’ve always admired the way he has played and carried Melbourne for many years on his shoulders. An incredible club man that must be feeling many emotions at the moment. I’d love to see him transition to the coaching team.

Nathan Jones may not play the grand final but he deserves some recognition

Longmire came into the coaching job with a premiership team all tied up in a little bow for him. He has taken the team from the top of the ladder and steadily progressed it toward the bottom. Admittedly they have a terrible injury list at the moment, but what it has exposed is the lack of depth and lack of plan B. The board need a shake up – especially after signing Longmire to another three years….just terrible.

Facing their lowest ebb in some time, Swans must get creative

I think the article is saying that “Buddy’s a failure because he hasn’t hit the most important KPI – GFs.
He has failed because the Swans kick it to him all the time and don’t utilise the talent around him well enough”?

As mentioned in other comments, there are a number of measures of success that you could apply, but, he came into a team that had just won a premiership and has gone backwards since.

I do think the Swans over-focus on him, but he is so damn good its hard not to. His body is buggered though and he has broken down at a number key moments after working so hard to get to the finals. That’s the risk the Swans took and I don’t think they regret their decision to recruit him. I am disappointed in Longmire though and that the Swans have not identified a suitable replacement yet. (Kirk please…)

Buddy Franklin's time at the Swans has been a failure

he used to take some great hangers! That mustachioed head popping up on top of the pack…

State of Origin forecast: Victoria vs All Stars

I am looking forward to watching it. I always like to see current team mates go head to head…sorting out some underlying tension in the relationship…Greene and Coniglio? others…a question – will there be “Reporting” for incidents?

Eddie Hemmings should at least be an honourable mention…

Cricket’s best broad-in-the-beam brigade

I think Paine complements Langer’s approach perfectly. It is easy (but wrong) to under-estimate the benefits brought about by the cultural change we’ve seen by the introduction of Langer (and the supporting role Paine has provided)

Tim Paine silences noise with clinical summer

Please leave it alone!!! Test Cricket is unique in its strategies, it’s role for each of the 11 players, the history of the game, the impact of weather, the pitch etc. The “specialness” of Test cricket will be diminished a little bit more. I for one don’t want 4 Day Tests.

The ICC must leave Test cricket alone

This article brings back memories…I remember going to the WACA and watching Beefy throw the bat at everything. From memory (and its been a while…) I think he score 35 or something. He certainly wasn’t looking to be around for a long time.

And then maybe the other side of Christmas going to see a one-dayer v NZ, standing on the Hill and watching someone hit Richard Hadlee with half a watermelon as he jogged around the oval in warm-ups….

Australia retain Ashes in a thriller

I agree – a better balance needed – less cacky-handers!

Warner has lost the plot – and his off stump

Longmire took over in 2011 with a really strong team set up nicely by Roos, won premiership in 2012, then slowly slid backwards to 2019. For me that is the key statistic you fail to mention in all the gushing. No ifs and buts…thats the key stat and we need to turn it around. We can go either the way of Gold Coast or the way of GWS. I’d like to see someone else coach us, but need to dig us out of the hole first.

Buddy brilliant: After one 'bad' year, Sydney's rebuild is already complete

I agree Paul – Hadlee was not so much belligerent as classically clinical. His leg-cutter was one for the ages.

Well played Jarrod. I remember watching him in 2009 and he was an absolute ball magnet – but wasn’t very good at making decisions once he had it…I used to pray that someone else would get the ball, but over time he got better and better at using the footy, and he was at his absolute peak around the 2012 GF, where he still had a bit of toe, and had a good head on him. He seems like a genuinely nice bloke so it would be good to have him around the club.

Jarrad McVeigh officially announces retirement

Australia read the conditions and played accordingly. Finch and Warner were fantastic in difficult circumstances. Accelerating in these conditions was never going to be easy, but working the ball around and picking off the odd boundary from loose balls was the best approach. Nice adaptation from Aus, not so much from England…
I feel a bit (only a little bit) sorry for Trevor Bayliss. He’s built this juggernaut of a team with only one gear…and then the conditions go and get all seamy and swingy….who would have thought!

Hi Roar – can you change the title of the sport in the menu to “Aussie Rules” please. The sport is bigger than AFL. I note you use “League” and not “NRL”
