I presumed that the head coach of one of the major rugby nations didn’t need his first name noted on a site devoted to the sport. I am aware of his previous credentials but for the purpose of this article, comparing the new Australian and Irish coaching regimes, I didn’t feel it necessary to put his CV into print. A quick google search would have cleared it up, but thanks for the feedback as this is only my second article.

Wallabies and Irish coaching regimes have much in common

Because like Australia towards the end of the Deans reign, the players simply didn’t want to play for Kidney, in my opinion, and this led to the capitulation in Rome and Murrayfield. Poor coaching and a lack of attacking structure were the causes of a 2nd last finish. Also glad to hear Ireland sound invincible, irony or not.

I wouldn’t say this team is invincible, just solid. The result will be determined on whether or not the Wallabies can achieve parity in the forwards. If so their backs will show that class that is bubbling just under the surface. If the Irish dominate at set piece and the breakdown it will be a long evening for the men in gold. Going with the consensus – that the Irish pack is better than the Wallabies, but the Australian backline contains more quality than the Irish – the forward battle will decide this game, the question is whether or not the Australian 8 can raise their game as they did in Argentina and Italy.
