'Killed the A-League', 'treated with contempt': Fans' fury as Grand Finals sold to Sydney
The APL has its financial challenges. The $6M per year boost will go a long way to maintaining financial stability.
It looks like a bad decision. And It probably is. But to me it’s a cry for help as to where the league really is at.
I’m guessing part of The build of the ACCOR Stadium involved some sort of pledge from the A League for some big ticket items

Things are changing at the club. It will get better. New CEO. New ideas.

Exciting times for sure. By the time we get to 22 games hopefully we have leveraged off the World Cup
The A-League Women expansion highlights an exciting time to be a football fan
Congrats to Wales. Disappointing for Ukraine, would have been many peoples sentimental favourites
Ukraine miss World Cup while Wales end 64-year drought
To me not making the World Cup is a chance to reset and rebuild again. We need to go from the bottom up and come up with a better curriculum, better pathways etc.
We need to find a way to get the best players going overseas at a young age and playing in the best competitions.
Times have changed so we need to evolve. Hope we get there but perhaps if we do it may give us the wrong idea of where we are truly at.
No one wants to say it, but what happens if the Socceroos miss the World Cup?
Optus sport have the Womens but will sublet Matilda games and other big ones to a yet to be named FTA network
Young Matildas coach Leah Blayney will join esteemed company when she goes to Costa Rica
Yes as I said it hasn’t been done well. Hopefully they fix next season
$2 million cost of expanding the A-League Womens
I heard a whisper SBS may at least stream it

Every club advertise a paramount subscription. Some may have said you only get the discount if you become a proper member too.
I agree they should have made it clear the tv deal relied on this clause.
$2 million cost of expanding the A-League Womens
there was an option to just buy Paramount without being another type of member i think
$2 million cost of expanding the A-League Womens
Streaming services don’t care for ratings, they don’t advertise, they want subscriptions.
The codes were the only way to show how many people signed to paramount due to being A-League fans. This was a measure – as unreliable as it may be – they chose to use as part of their deal.
It makes sense. Why would you pay $32 million without expecting a return, if you don’t get that return it makes business sense you’d want some of your money back or not pay as much?
Lots of clubs were offering paramount memberships. I got mine for $75 as part of my A-League membership .

Don’t listen to Sth Melb Mike at all. The info about the codes and that being used to measure subscriptions made by A League fans is correct. Because of the bungle up with the codes many fans just signed up anyway. There was no way to then count them as signing up to watch A-League.
I don’t blame Viacom for having a clause like that. But the way to measure it has to be fair. If they stuffed up the codes, they can’t then say you didn’t meet your target.
Be keen to know how many subscribers there are for paramount in total. Compared to what was expected?
$2 million cost of expanding the A-League Womens
Yes they would. They have a greater stake than everyone.
$2 million cost of expanding the A-League Womens
Yep the codes were a disaster and I hope the APL use that as leverage to avoid any cash cut from the deal

Politics mate. Some people don’t want This team recognised at all
The 80-year-old who has just become a Matilda
Having some challenges with FA. They don’t want to recognise this team as a national team but want to recognise them as being the first team that represented Australia at a major tournament. Hahhaa make of that what you will. Next step is try and get their games from 1975 counted as A internationals
The 80-year-old who has just become a Matilda
Good to see a few players now recognised from the past
The 80-year-old who has just become a Matilda
Next step is to get their games counted as A internationals. All other countries count the games played at the 1975 tournament as A internationals but Australia still hasn’t and still won’t at this stage.
They need to be counted in my view

I guess when you aren’t remunerating someone for what you think they are worth, it can be seen as pushing them out and letting them make the call
Seventh heaven: Who will coach the Wanderers' women next?
She wasn’t discarded. She left. Partly due to remuneration and partly due to playing budgets. She didn’t tell me this, heard from people closely linked. I believe them because this has been a. Common issue for Wanderers
Seventh heaven: Who will coach the Wanderers' women next?
Goood player. As a coach, she created a good environment but was inexperienced.
She has never coached a Womens team at NPLW level. She was a second assistant to Heffernan and other coaches before her.
So experience wasn’t there. Same would be said of a male coach. Many go into Womens without experience and many leave after a short time.
Players at this level want a coach with experience. They have their own goals and aspirations. Like making Matildas and so on. The players don’t care about political statements.
Personally would like to have seen Cath get another chance and by all accounts she was the one who left. The club didn’t want to pay up. A common issue with other coaches at Wanderers.
Seventh heaven: Who will coach the Wanderers' women next?
Thanks mate. I’ll be writing till the 2023 World Cup then I’m done hahah given enough to this
Seventh heaven: Who will coach the Wanderers' women next?
So Perth Glory sold for next to nothing. Shows the value of the League really and each clubs stake in the APL
