He’s certainly the most useful player New Zealand’s ever had in the Wallabies squad.

Even good old Dean Mumm couldn’t concede advantage like Quade.

Jeez, that’s gotta be the pot calling the kettle black.

You’re missing the point Seiran – I was responding to Micks’ comments about Australian being better at rugby league. By what measure, ongoing success and WTL ratio or World Cup wins? Can’t have both….

I posted about the ‘home ground’ point about six weeks ago, when NZ don’t win it’s choking, when we do it’s a home ground advantage, and when we dominate in between world cups it doesn’t count, apparently.

Pretty sure Quade Cooper is a sleeper agent.

CraigB, listening to ABC today I heard the following from an Australian supporter in Auckland:

‘I absolutely love it, I’ve never been to a country where people are so invested in the events. There’s an incredible party atmosphere everywhere you go, it’s like a month-long Grand Final’.

He then followed up with a quick synopsis of being a proud Wallabies supporter – ‘Yeah there’s the usual banter you get at rugby matches but you end up having a beer with them after the game.’

So I will balance your poor opinion against someone who is (a) actually there and (b) not embittered by the outcome of an elimination final in a pointless knock-out competition.

I stand corrected! Franks is an Aussie? I did not know that…

I thought Mils was out for the tournament?

Excellent performance by All Blacks – after a week of worry, how sweet it is to win so emphatically. Pity about the missed penalties and conversions.

Dear Sky Sports, the SMH, the Daily Telegraph, Shane Watson and all the other Wallabies commentators who were so cockily confident: look at the scoreboard. That is all.

Disappointed in Sonny Bill Williams – do you think he’ll be cited?

So….did Quade Cooper choke? He is a kiwi after all…. 🙂

Well, there’s an absence of Australians from Randwick in New Zealand, so that’s a pretty big positive.

Go to bed mate. As Warren says (above), grey skies are going to clear up, put on a happy face. At least an Australian team won the AFL this year.

Why stop there Mick. Why not get rid of all foreign-born players. You know, like Samo (Fiji), Ioane (NZ), Vickerman (SA), Pocock (Zimbabwe), Genia (PNG), Moore (Saudi Arabia)…

oh and before you ask there are just 2 players in the NZ squad born outside of NZ. Guess which ones?

Thanks stillmissit. Appreciate your thoughts.

Did you hear Elsom having a go at Joubert….again? Only heard Joubert’s side of the convo but he snapped ‘It’s in the rule books, read it’ before the second final scrum.

Agree on Cooper. He should’ve been subbed at 00:00:20. Out on the full at kick-off in a RWC semi; unforgivable. At least his grandma still loves him.

Genia’s box kicks had no distance and it was pretty apparent that Jane had been watching a LOT of videos of the up & unders, he always seemed to be there ahead of any Wallabies chasers.

I’m savouring the win but wish the game had been closer.

They weren’t brilliant, had all the kicks been landed it would’ve been 37-6. Really noticed the absence of Dan Carter there.

I missed all that. Channel 9 cut straight from the end of the rugby to the start of UnderBelly. Absolute graceless idiots.

Wallabies thumped by All Blacks in RWC semi-final

Thanks Brett. Wish it had been a bit closer although I took an awful lot of pleasure out of Quade Cooper’s face after he put the opening kick out on the full. Think that’s gonna be a screensaver for a while.

I wonder what the outcome would’ve been with Dan Carter on the field.

Wallabies thumped by All Blacks in RWC semi-final

Yeah, I got that too. Channel 9 – will they even bother showing the RWC final?

Wallabies thumped by All Blacks in RWC semi-final

RL world cup – yep
4N – yep
Finalists in NRL – yep

oh so you mean Australia can only win in between World Cups, right?

Wallabies thumped by All Blacks in RWC semi-final

Corey Jane – easily MOM for me. Six takes under the high ball – totally negated this as an attacking option.

Wallabies thumped by All Blacks in RWC semi-final

Thanks p.Tah. Really appreciate it, sorry it wasn’t a closer game.

You’re one week late mate.

Brett, Richie McCaw is never offside, it’s the opposition players who keep forming rucks in the wrong place when he’s standing in an onside position.

I’ve written a strongly-worded letter to the IRB to stamp out this cynical ploy. It’d be simpler for everyone if they just handed the ball over whenever they were tackled.

100 Tests but no World Cup for McCaw - yet

What are you doing posting on The Roar, George Smith?

100 Tests but no World Cup for McCaw - yet

NiwdEyaJ,

There’s more than residency issues, I believe he has to be a citizen of the country in order to play for it, otherwise he’d be able to play for France, n’est ces pas??

I think it’s irrelevant whether he’s played in Australia for a period of time, especially given the majority of this time he played was as a professional rugby league player.

The path from foreign-born, foreign-trained talent to the Wallabies is well-trodden, Dan Vickerman only recently reached the point where Australia’s development programmes accounted for over 50% of his career. Clyde Rathbone is another Wallaby who’d represented South Africa and Australia, although his impact was far more short-lived. Both played age group representative at quite an old level.

That’s not a criticism, although I do love to get snippy with Wallabies supporters who accuse the All Blacks of being stocked with Pacific Islanders and Australian cricket fans who accuse the Poms of being stocked with Yaapies – the Wallabies contain a veritable United Nations of birthplaces – Genia (PNG), Moore (Saudi Arabia), Vickerman (South Africa), Ioane / Cooper (New Zealand), Pocock (Zimbabwe), etc. It’s a reflection of international rugby union and the appeal of both the New Zealand and Australian teams – and countries – that there is such a rich diversity amongst the team’s backgrounds.

But as a thought experiment…having SBW working in trio with Ioane and Cooper? It would be absolutely insane.

I bet Sonny Bill wishes he was a Wallaby

I don’t think Mictchell has enough rugby under his belt just yet.

I take it you mean rugby this year? Didn’t he play at the 2007 World Cup?

Ioane loss brings Wallabies back to the field

Distance-wise, definitely, Cooper absolutely thumped a couple of them downfield against Italy, one was a 60m cross-field slam from his own 22.

However all the kickers seem to have struggled with place-kick distances…

Is there another balls-up over the Gilbert RWC ball?

Yes

Everybody still hates the English
