Thanks for this Mr Frost. I was just asking myself all the questions you’ve answered here. Great info.

What is Meldonium, the drug Maria Sharapova has been taking?

Great stuff as usual, Justin. I’d love for you to check out my take on the event, “Party Like it’s 1993!” on roar. Maybe you could leave a couple costume ideas in the comments. Thanks

Bellator's Shamrock-Gracie bout is a circus

Great points! I believe that Maia’s recent success is due to his improved stand-up. Nobody in the Welterweight division wants to be on the ground with him, but his striking and footwork have improved and he is able to better disguise take downs. And once it hits the ground, those that can defend the submissions still can’t get back to their feet. Fans of KO’s might find it boring. The Welterweight division is stacked, and Maia on a 4 fight win streak isn’t the most deserving of a shot at Robbie Lawler’s title. He is currently ranked 6 in the UFC, and fights with the top five fighters, (MacDonald, Woodley, Thompson, Condit and Hendricks) unfortunately don’t make sense right now. On May 14th he does take on #7 Matt Brown (20-13) in Brazil. A win over Brown should result in more Love for the BJJ Wizard.

How about a little love for Demian Maia?

I remember that also. I always thought Ken should have stuck with Pro Wrestling it must have been more lucrative than Early MMA. I thought his gimmick worked too. He was a real cage fighter and that made other wrestlers appear tougher, at least in my eyes.

Bellator 149: Party like it's 1993

With Wonderboy’s improved take-down defense he is an awful match up for Hendricks. There isn’t a welterweight in the UFC that can stand with Thompson, though. Unfortunately for Johny the top of this division is scary and that is where all his fights have happened lately. Hendricks’ had many changes/distractions coming into this fight and that can’t be completely discounted. But I came away from that fight thinking Thompson can likely do this to anyone in the division. Great Stuff Justin, Thanks for the thought provoking content.

The rise and fall of Johny Hendricks

I like those picks Matthew. I’m looking for Wonderboy to keep his distance and make it exciting, but Johny seams to be in great shape for this fight and he is a monster on-top. I reluctantly agree with that pick too. Do you have a pick in the HW D.Lewis Vs Grabowski in Prelims? These two have 15 first round finishes between them. I take DL by KO, Because Grabowski has taken the last year off from competition, but with 11 subs he could def get the win if he takes it to the mat.

Heavyweights set to rule UFC Fight Night 82

I agree with all your points, and Brooks doesn’t deserve a shot in the UFC. That being said from a marketing point of view, wrestling fans’ interest will be peaked, particularly because it is the UFC and not a lower league and what better event than UFC 200 to sell to all those eyes? At the end of the day this company is in the business of promotion. James Toney got a shot. The most interesting point you make is what if he wins and wants another fight? Then what, he gets starched by an experienced fighter? I’m watching the event regardless of weather Brooks competes, but I’ll be as interested and invested in the outcome, but fear the door it may open up. Celebrities wanting fights? Those Kardashians have tons of Twitter followers.

UFC's complicated relationship with CM Punk

This is very encouraging. The Reebok deal has had a negative impact on fighters’ wallets and it’s good to see them fight back. Bellator is far from perfect, side show antics and catch-weight matches, but this is a move in the right direction. Hopefully more fighters will be brave enough to seek employment outside of the three big letters. Great info!
