Cook doing work. Looks a great pick
State of Origin scores: NSW vs QLD - Game 1 live blog, highlights
I’m inclined to agree. I’m a Kings XI fan in the IPL and Stoinis hasn’t really performed there either. It’s definitely in him – the ODI form he’s shown makes it clear but just hasn’t quite clicked at T20 level yet
Australia boss Kiwis in T20 tri-series final
I know you’re referring to duos but Rashid Khan has an extremely strong case as the best T20 spinner going around at the moment
Australia must attack Kiwi spin pair
Maybe Swepson? Bowled some absolute peaches against WA the other week and toured to Bangladesh. Only problem is his economy is still worryingly high
The biggest Ashes challenge - for selectors and contenders alike
Could be the new cult hero. I’m very keen to see him take some stunners at short-leg off Gaz.
In the 'real' battle this summer, it’s 1-0 to the Australian Test selectors
Agree about Mo, think he looked quite good personally
Six and out: Why Australia hold the aces heading to Adelaide
Thats what I reckon Dan ced hes so much like him as a junior. Still, I worry about his lack of feet and tendency to go at everything outside off. I can see him murdering attacks on flat wickets but maybe struggling overseas. Good thing is, Warner is starting to come good nearly everywhere so should be up and up for Weatherald here
Cameron Bancroft must play in Brisbane, but who does he replace?
Disagree with that. Read this article http://www.thecricketmonthly.com/story/1104475/how-far-can-women-s-cricket-go
The problem is lack of exposure and training at that level. According to people who actually know what they’re talking about it.
“David Epstein, author of The Sports Gene, believes that women facing fast bowling would be no more dangerous than men doing so, and that with training, women could make contact as regularly as men”
Women’s cricket has a long way to go before becoming mainstream
Paine also dropped a catch in the first innings.
Phoenix-like, Bird is set to rise for the Ashes

Consider this with all those “who would you rather in X situation”
The team Australia should pick for the first Ashes Test
Actually Maxwell’s best shield innings have come when his team is getting rolled. I understand that is the perception but here’s some nice evidence for you: http://www.espncricinfo.com/series/8043/scorecard/669209/New-South-Wales-vs-Victoria–sheffield-shield/
He came in with Vics 6/9
The team Australia should pick for the first Ashes Test
Based on nothing but gut feel, I think underestimating Vince is a danger. If he hits runs in Brisbane he could have a huge series. He definitely underwhelmed when he last played for England but I always felt he has it in him
How Australia could lose the Ashes (Part 1)
Mel Jones and Lisa Sthalekar are both doing a great job commentating on the Women’s Ashes at the moment, would both be excellent candidates for permanent Nine coverage
Five ways to improve Channel Nine’s cricket coverage
Richardson may cop a pretty healthy IPL contract in the big auction this year. Lets hope CA are well and truly in his ear by that point
Steve Smith is in a form trough ahead of Ashes
I think Nevill is a better batsman and gloveman but he dropped two against SA. Would still prefer either to Wade
More questions than answers after Round 1 of the Sheffield Shield
The ball that got Carey was beautiful
More questions than answers after Round 1 of the Sheffield Shield
Carey is keeping well. Wade isn’t even doing that. Dropped a couple sitters in the JLT recently
More questions than answers after Round 1 of the Sheffield Shield
I still think Carey could be a go. Out slogging in the first and copped an absolute jaffa from Starc in the second. Late inswinging yorker, Starc Special. So much more upside than Wade. I still think Nev could be ok, but pretty disappointing to see him drop a couple. Wade dropped some sitters in the JLT and atleast Carey has kept well.
Steve Smith is in a form trough ahead of Ashes
On that note, is Bancroft interested in keeping in long form cricket, long term? If he is going to open/bat in the top 4, I can’t imagine he is going to be super keen on keeping too?
Steve Smith is in a form trough ahead of Ashes
Huge fan of Weatherald. Big opportunity against the (-Hazelwood) test attack with a pink ball!
Are changes looming at the top for Australia?
Yep agree, suspect that will skew our side too far. I think Maxwell has to be in for Neser, atleast to begin with. Putting far too much responsibility on a line-up that failed to crack 300 against two weak county sides in the warm-up; a line-up liable to need 330+ more often than not
