"Its a great day for Rugby."

Dempsey hadnt played any rugby since this time last year as I understand it.

I do actually agree Re Cooper playing SR next year before being selected, with the way things are at the moment with coaching I dont thinks its best for anyone for him to play.

Also agree that Stewart should be there for development, Cooper, Foley, Toomua are all 28+ so wouldn’t hurt to be nurturing a little talent in that crucial role.

Adam Ashley-Cooper and Jordan Petaia headline Wallabies' Spring Tour train-on squad

Riddler, he played a whole NRC campaign and has signed a SR contract with the Rebels. Others have been selected with less game time or no Nrc minutes at all. You also couldnt say he doesnt have the experience, I’d hardly say that is having a stab?

Timu, Paiaua, Stewart and Cooper should all be there.
Well done to Petaia and Valetini on their selections.

White would be very handy to actually provide a quality backup to Genia. Chibba Hanson would also be very handy at hooker right about now. Really don’t see what people like about F Faiinga and Latu, overpenalised boys who can’t throw a ball and offer not much at all tbh.

Welcome back, Samu Kerevi

You’re spot on Red Block. We are still paying for the spineless decision by Pulver to let go of Link and give in to the players at the time.

How is it that Beale can punch his own captain on a bus in South Africa at the Rebels, somehow come back and get a chance under Link, only to knife him with the whole Di Patson texting scandal. Only at RA could a coach pull a player into line for sexually harassing a manager and still end up “exiting stage left”.

Gutless and disgraceful it was then and it still leaves a sour taste now.
A bad tree, bears bad fruit. Don’t let them sit there and tell you it’s sweet.

Cheika's hapless Wallabies are the real victims of the 2004 Brumbies player-power push

@Glider. Wow. That really says it all with what we are failing at in Australia. It really does make perfect sense.

Michael Cheika's loyalty is now to a fault

Don’t disagree with any of what youve said. The fact that half of the guys listed aren’t even getting a look in is the real problem.

It’s not a problem that I think can all be blamed on Cheika or should be. It is institutionalised flawed policy and decision making that leads to all these problems. The grassroots needs to take back what is theirs, how it’s done, there is no easy answers for.

There’s a very basic squad of.
Starter/Bench option/ understudy

Some young players, some overseas or just currently left out. The cattle are there, they just need to be picked and coached accordingly.

Michael Cheika's loyalty is now to a fault

I should add that the Pumas player who rushed in should have seen the penalty reversed and at the very least been given a warning. The whole incident really capped off some poor officiating.

Wallaby Phipps shoves Pumas medic in win

The physio was in the way all game. When one Puma try was scored he was there jumping on the scorer before any of his own players ever were. Fact of the matter is that the physio should not have touched the ball, fullstop.

Phipps on the other hand should be dealt with by the ARU. His actions were a bad look for the game and certainly not in the interests of rugby and good sportsmanship. If I was refereeing him in a club game I’d have sent him off. We simply do not need that kind of rubbish and bad sportsmanship in our game and I for one hope he’s punished accordingly.

Wallaby Phipps shoves Pumas medic in win

That looks like a very good team to me Rebellion. Probably the best we could select in my opinion.

Cheika embraces long Wallabies tour

Exactly. What happened to Genia was exactly the same situation and not even a look at it.

Sanchez is a serial diver and last night was a classic example once again. Not in the spirit of the game whatsoever.

Highlights: Genia, Cooper lead Wallabies to second win on the trot

Would look at bringing Hanson in for a run.
Would like to see a Kerevi/Kurindrani centre pairing at some stage, although I did think Foley played pretty well.

Folau looked really out of sorts. Has played a lot of games this year and has a lot more to play, I’d rest him and put DHP to fullback and bring Morahan onto the wing for this game.

The back row is anyones guess, is Pocock out now? Who do we bring into the squad for him if so? Houston, or maybe Hollaway?
Thought Hooper played really well, but he could also benefit from a rest.
The backrow selections are going to interesting but I dont claim to know the answer to that one! ?

Improved Wallabies must find more to beat the Pumas

I was all for Timani until I watched him play NRC last week. He was woeful! Couldnt catch, couldnt hold the ball, and was running way too high. You just expect more from someone in the Wallaby camp.

UPDATE: Wallabies team for Springboks Test: Cheika confirms bench

It would be rather difficult wouldn’t it. Personally think that Kerevi and Kurindrani should be the centres with Folau and Morahan on the wings and Hodge chiming in from fullback.

UPDATE: Wallabies team for Springboks Test: Cheika confirms bench

Some good ideas here David. However I dont think we can have Pocock or Genia captain the side going forward. For mine I’d start Slipper as captain and have Cooper vc.

Will a Douglas/Arnold combination work with lineouts? Do either of them call lineouts? I know Fardy can but if he is injured we could have issues.

With the backline I think we are better off sticking with people who know how to play their actual position. So I’d go Kerevi/Kurindrani in the centre’s. With Folau and Morahan on the wings and Hodge at fullback (his goalkicking is very important should Cooper have an off night).

My team

1. Slipper (c)
2. Hanson

Michael Cheika needs to drop half his side against the Boks - including the skipper

I can see the logic in what you’re saying Twas. We dont need quick fix solutions, we need a long term plan and I do think the Nrc is a step in the right direction.

I do think that the Aru needs to communicate better with grassroots rugby, and it is undoubtedly a tough position to be in. Australia is in a declining economy and Rugby is struggling as a result. Somehow we need lower rego fees for juniors and more money for country rugby Rugby, but how we get that is anyones guess. I don’t claim to know the answers but we do have a problem. We all need to work together, somehow?

Every Marine is a rifleman: Lessons for Australian rugby

Good read Ted. I think you nailed a lot of issues that ordinary rugby people have about the ARU. People feel alienated and left out of what is going on and question what purpose the ARU is serving. They could very well be doing the right thing and still we wouldnt know because they don’t communicate their purpose well enough.

Every Marine is a rifleman: Lessons for Australian rugby

I dont agree. Qc tackled well, and played a good all round game as well.
Foley missed touch and didnt make 10 off the kickoff. Why be down on someone when there is no clear alternative? The best we can all do at the moment is support our team.

Dont ever change squirrel?

Roar Forum: What changes should the Wallabies make for the Springboks?

I’d say not too many but DHP had a few poor reads in defence. Moore’s throwing was also bad. Scrum also went backwards when the replacements came on so what do we do there?

Roar Forum: What changes should the Wallabies make for the Springboks?

Agree 100% Antoni. Having met Quade I could not agree more. He is a humble and caring bloke. He’s one of the only Reds players (Other is Ben Daley) I’ve seen come up here and go around and just mingle with people. No big fuss or any hubub just being another person. Went around and saw all the little kids and stayed to watch the games. Really just a top bloke.

Quade's not the Wallabies' Messiah. He's not even a naughty boy

Hehe 😉 gotta look at the lighter side of things soapit

Time for Michael Cheika to select the way he played

I actually like your team David. Its a very green front row but the definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result.

One player I would like to see come into the traning squad is Blake Enever. Could be our solution at 6 going forward. Jack Dempsey also looks promising.

I’d go

1. Slipper
2. Hanson
3. Robertson
4. Coleman
5. Fardy
6. Timani
7. Pocock
8. Higginbotham / Houston
9. Genia
10. Cooper
11. Hodge
12. Kerevi
13. Kurindrani
14. Folau
15. Haylette-Petty/Kellaway
