Cricket’s DRS debacle must end now

While there's obviously going to be a difference in the quality of the technology between the conventional 24fps cameras and the 1000fps that Ch. 9 supposedly uses, regardless of whether it's 24, 1000 or some ridiculous number, there's always going to be errors. Besides, as ICC has made DRS an ad-hoc agreement made before a test series, India had a choice before this series. They would no doubt be aware that the technology in use here in Australia is of a higher quality than in some other countries, but they still chose to not use DRS.

Roll the dice against India, and strive for five

Interesting take on the issue. It's quite unfortunate that the 5-1-5 batting order has fallen out of favour in recent times. It's definitely robbed a few bowlers (more likely spinners) a chance to play international cricket. But I'm not sure that Australia's batting order is up to handling the pressure of being one short. While the tail can bat well, as seen in the past, including at the MCG, Australia shouldn't rely too much on this. Brad Haddin is by all accounts on the way out at the moment and Ponting and Hussey are only just started to make some decent scores again. It'd be an interesting setup and would make the test a little more interesting, but I'm not sure it's the best thing to do at this stage, given the form of Australia's batsmen.

Harris into Australia’s squad for SCG Test

Ryan Harris is quality, certainly. Whether or not he can hold it together is another question. Keep him in the wings for Perth.
