Wayne Bennett was a regular attendee at our games this season and I think he may have picked up a few things looking at how the Broncos game developed over the season

I am a Norths Old Boy so their success made the season even sweeter for me

How Ipswich made my rugby league dreams come true

Thanks for the comments everyone, I am glad you enjoyed the read. I thought with all the negativity you read about the game it would be nice to share a good news story. The good news is that it looks as though about 7 or 8 of the guys will end up with NRL contracts adding to the success of the season

How Ipswich made my rugby league dreams come true

Just to clarify things Billy has been charged with a Grade 2 Contrary Conduct charge for “running in to be involved in a melee in an aggressive manner”. Apparently there is no footage showing him throw a punch so this has been the charge he has been hit with so the hysteria by people like Green & the NSW media is just that, hysteria.
On the subject of Billy, he came from Mt Isa at the start of the 2013 season & has gone from a fringe reserve grader to man of the match in the ISC GF & I believe has some NRL talent scouts interested in him. He is showing that hard work can indeed pay off if you are prepared to stick to it

Ipswich Jets bring back the biff

Interesting you say only 2 more wins for Parra. On current form I see 5 of those as very winnable (Titans, Penrith, Manly, Canberra & Cronulla) while this weeks game against Canterbury, especially at home, is an even money bet. I think they will go close to making the finals but will probably need some big wins in some of those games to lift their for & against

The run home: How your NRL club is going to finish

One of the main problems for refereeing organisations, just like every other organisation these days, is the modern day working life. Unfortunately not everyone works 8-5 Monday to Friday anymore & I think that hurts sporting organisations more than anything as people just don’t have the time to help or to take up these roles due to being at work. I know that my sons junior club struggles for volunteers for this reason & it is not going to get better & as time goes on I think it is only get to get harder for clubs or refereeing organisations to get people that have the time to take it up.
A good point about Arthur coaching the junior side as that shows he is willing to pass on his knowledge to the kids & isn’t full of himself. Too many people fall into the trap that the NRL is the be all & end all of rugby league & I think Arthur needs to be congratulated for doing something to help the game at the grassroots level

Brad Arthur coaches junior footy, but would you be a referee?

I will admit to being a rugby league tragic & will watch rugby league regardless of who is playing. I think personally International rugby league has a lot more growing to do yet & see untapped potential for the sport both at domestic levels in these countries as well as at the international level. I think the best way to help the growth of international league is to re-instate the Emerging Nations World Cup to run alongside the main WC giving these lesser nations a chance to perform on the highest of stages with the chance of winning a title for themselves.

International rugby league is growing, and it's not about to stop

The game globally is changing & will continue to change for some period as more nationalities take up rugby league & more kids from these areas are exposed to the greatest game of all.
You go to any local league ground in the country on a Saturday morning to watch junior footy & look at the different nationalities being represented on the field by kids who once would not have been playing our great game. The game is no longer an Anglo Saxon game but a world game & this is what is hurting Australia’s dominance in International rugby league & even though I am as proud an Aussie as the next person I am loving it. I am loving it because for the first time in my life the code is truly international & not a game played between 4 countries.
Australia can no longer run out their 3rd best team & still coast to an easy victory & for that us fans will be the winner

Kiwi victory over Australia gives Test football it's mojo back

It has to be the Western Corridor as it is traditional league heartland taking in the areas of Logan, Ipswich & Toowoomba as well as being the largest growing corridor in the country & the fact that it will have the largest junior base in the game.
The added advantage of this bid is that it will not only attract fans that have become disillusioned with the Broncos but bring in new fans from this area who might want to follow a Qld side but don’t want to follow a side from Brisbane as that side doesn’t represent their area.
What people forget about the Crushers is that in their first year in 1995 they had a higher average first year crowd than the Broncos did in 1988 before Superleague came & damaged the code &, in Brisbane, the Crushers brand.
The AFL, through the Brisbane Lions, are struggling at the moment in the Brisbane market & the NRL have to strike now to score a blow against the AFL in Brisbane
