The key movement in the delivery is the arm not the leg/foot. Therefore, until Senanayake moved his bowling arm in the regular bowling movement (i.e. over his ear), he was in the clear. This is to prevent the bowler holding onto the ball and instead releasing it backwards into the stumps.
This was a legal dismissal

Banish the Mankad stigma

I’m sure that made Mankad feel well supported, given the Don’s standing in the game.
Of interest, Bradman kept that SMH article in his scrapbook (which has since been published online)

Banish the Mankad stigma

+1
Fos is great at what he does but not because he is a former player. He understands the game and most importantly, how to convey that intelligence to the viewers/readers.

The best students don’t always make the best teachers.

What does the future hold for Australian football journalism?

@IroneAwe

One of the main problems with allowing all drug use is the progression of athletes being used as guinea pigs. We know that pushing the edge in sport science happens but opening the door to EPO, blood transfusions, steroids and the like would ensure athletes struggling to enter the professional competitions have serious health issues and ultimately shorter lives.

Also, as Jessica Lovejoy would say, “Won’t somebody please think of the children!” Having pro athletes so obviously doped up will impact children in a very bad way.
Do we want 13 and 14 year-olds injecting themselves twice a week?

Let's not forget who the real victims of doping are

I think the Page-McIntyre system is best for four teams. Top two get a double chance.
That is:
Week 1 (Stage 1) : Semi Final 1 is 3rd v 4th. SF2 1st v 2nd
Week 2: Preliminary Final is SF2 Loser v SF1 Winner
Week 3: Grand Final : SF2 Winner v PF Winner
That system is the one the VFL/AFL used from 1931 until the 1970s.

BBL needs to nuke the two-week final series

Your maths is correct. I chose to describe the finals system as two-week as it is typically played over two weekends. Perhaps two-stage would have been a better description.

BBL needs to nuke the two-week final series

Agreed.
After a maiden wins, albeit the country’s best maiden (Its rating is 109, higher than So You Think at same point), surely this means the weights have to be bumped a few kilograms.

The 3mm error rate applies to tennis ball tracking. Cricket still applies a zone of uncertainty to the pitch of the ball. Tennis doesn’t

Why Hawk-Eye’s guesswork fails both players and umpires

Yeah, hence why tennis needs of bring it in to account for the margin of error.
Thanks for the comment.

“I see in its eyes that it’s mocking me.”
Haha brilliant article. Until I watched Cycling Central’s little explainer on the Corkscrew, I knew nothing about it. This account of the difficulties has not only made me want to watch Stage 2 but has also forced me to add it to my bucket list! Great read!

Tackling the Corkscrew: a (very) amateur perspective

The cars Australians buy have never come from so many different companies. Having a Ford v Holden may be great for people who grew up buying only Falcons or Commodores, but in the current day and age, V8 Supercars needs to move on to bigger and better things. Including more makes/brands is the right option.

It is a risk but without risk, the category is doomed. With Holden having 17 of the 28 cars, even the traditional rivalry is average. Having cars by Nissan, Mercedes-AMG and others in the future will, to an extent, increase interest from people who drive those cars day-to-day.
Because the Car of the Future idea will work, signing a two-year deal is a good bet, . The TV rights (both Australasian and international) will substantially increase for the 2015-2019 seasons

Australian sporting pie can’t sustain itself

All the questions I would have asked and more. I’ll have the checklist out while I watch the interviews and, fingers crossed, all will be asked

21 questions I'd like to ask Lance Armstrong

Whenever I’m passing other cyclists, I try to no or say hi every time but I don’t think the ‘secret races’ are such a bad thing. I was out on the bike today and secretly raced a guy for a few km. Our journeys only linked up for those few kilometres and my body is appreciating the fast ‘race’ as opposed to the other option of a friendly chat at a slow speed.

Good article though.

Australia, where's the love for your fellow cyclists?

If it wasn’t illegal to have a horn like that, I’d install one in every car I could!

Australia, where's the love for your fellow cyclists?

She is capable of being the world’s best and unbeatable on her day. Sadly, every player on the tour knows that no matter the stage of the match, never give up because the Aussie on the other side of the net may crack.

At least she’s not a golfer!
