All this talk about lack of time, risk of injury etc is a cop-out. it is possible and it should be what our game is about. i mentioned in an earlier article of yours how your Uncle Bill organised some British Lions to come down to a Briars junior game of mine in the late 50s and that stuck with me ever since.

Brought back many memories, Andrew. I had my first taste of rugby at Burwood in the late 50s – my father took me along to the Briars Club where they had some junior teams. I recall Bill being about as I think his son (Bill Junior) was playing. I remember some British Lions coming along to one of our games at Ashfield courtesy of Bill. He was truly one of the great characters of the game. Many thanks for that.

Henry may be right but his arrogance, or hubris if you like, is just over the top. What does he think he is really achieving? It is a pity that some Kiwis feel they have to make such comments when they are clearly on top and do not have to denigrate anyone verbally. Australian cricketers have been guilty of similar attitudes in the past towards their Kiwi brethren. Its just not productive either way.
