I am not a fan of golden point during the regular season but realise the NRL aren’t going to go back to a draw after 80 minutes of play… So I wish the NRL would at least change the competition point scoring to make it a fairer reflection of what has occurred over the game. Each NRL game has 4 competition points up for grabs:-
Win in regular time: 4 points
Loss in regular time: 0 points
Win in golden point: 3 points
Loss in golden point: 1 point
Draw after golden point has finished: 2 points each team

Golden point: It’s time for the NRL to try harder

You have to wonder and scratch your head why Hayne has repeatedly put himself in these situations in the first place.

Hayne's future clouded amid assault claim

You failed Rugby League 101: DCE’s pay is under the salary cap so paying DCE a large wage affects the playing roster . It has nothing to do with facilities, equipment or the paying of coaches.

Baz, it's time to leave Manly – and no, you don't deserve a cent

“This is particularly impressive when compared to Canada’s 27,512 registered and 156,571 total rugby players, Ireland’s 101,922/190,422, South Africa’s’s 405,438/467,856, France’s 542,242/634,028, Australia’s 230,753/669,635, the USA’s 119,682/1,527,561 and England’s 382,154/2,139,604.” If you believe these numbers to be accurate, particularly in Australia’s case, I have a boat load of ice I want to sell to you. That aside quantity does not equal quality e.g. the best athletes in Australia who want to play professional sport generally play Aussie Rules (18 pro teams), rugby league (15 pro teams) or soccer (9 pro teams) because the opportunities of picking up a contract are much higher than in rugby union (5 pro teams). This is the reverse of the situation in New Zealand.
You do realise yellow and red cards can be given out for “non dirty play” infringements yeah?

The language of rugby

He took unders for years. He wanted the Warriors deal because it was big money and he could return home to Auckland and help look after his disabled brother. Yet he stayed and even extended his deal. 12 years at one club is loyalty.

Loyalty not dead, but increasingly a myth

Yes not hard to find better examples at Manly. Brett Stewart – debut in 2003 or Steve Matai debut in 2005.

Haha brilliant!

Ha exactly, the cooling off period has been conveniently waived in this instance.

In your equation you are forgetting how expensive it is to get a project & platform like this off the ground. Optus have had 100s working on this project since mid last year. That’s a lot of wages not to mention all the infrastructure costs.

Playing the winless Bulldogs on Sunday. Surely a win for the Warriors if these boys respond to the kick up the butt.

He signed with the Titans because Penn & Kelly low balled him during the initial contract negotiations.

Thanks for clearing that up Cherry. Penn, as is his way, tried to throw Cherry under a bus and blame him for Tooves sacking.

News limited doesn’t want a second team in Brisbane, that’s why it has happened yet.

Bears' Gold Coast takeover is a terrible idea and must be stopped

“Watmough me be forced to retire: report” – did Choc write this headline?

Sad end if true. Choc could have retired as a one club legend at Manly yet he choose to dump on the club in the media and jump ship to Manly’s biggest rival.

Watmough may be forced to retire: report

Tim I think if Barrett can get the team to 6 wins in the first 12 rounds then Manly will be well positioned to win the majority of their games in a run home that is against quite a lot of the weaker teams. We shall see. Most knowledgeable Manly fans know this new team will take some time to gel with so many new combinations, particularly in the forwards.

Statistical predictions: The 2016 NRL table

On Manly…
“3. Club stability -2 Lots of infighting. Between board and players. Between board members. If the results aren’t going well Brookvale will not be a happy place.”

Tim, you do realise Manly has one majority owner now? The Penns have owned the majority of MWSE since the end of 2014 and now control the board. I can’t see how this is causing instability between the board and the players??

Mmmm Paddy Ryan to start.. front row depth looks a problem this season.

Waratahs name three first-timers for historic clash with Reds

Tim, I am a massive Geoff Toovey fan but have thrown my support behind Trent Barrett. Manly meet some powerful teams in the first half of the season so if he can have the team 6/6 at the halfway point while combinations are still gelling I think they can have a strong run home. I think Manly will make the semis and be somewhere around 5-8th on the ladder.

Can you predict the rugby league headline acts in 2016?
