I know that there may be a few better players in the draft at the moment but Peter Wright is also only 19 and I believe for his height he quite an athletic player who could develop to be whatever Collingwood want him to be, which would hopefully be a new sort of Leigh Brown. Peter Wright has the ability to go up into the ruck and unlike Collingwood’s two current ruckman he knows how to get his hands up and hold an overhead mark.

As for Carlisle the trade however unlikely is what Collingwood needs and all I was saying is that if they could get him it would be amazing for them but I didn’t say it would happen.

Wright trade for Collingwood could see Jake of all trades switch

Cloke’s marking is a massive part of the Collingwood forward line as you say Plainsman but with umpires giving him no reward for effort Cloke is quickly decreasing in valure. Like Justin Koschitzke, when the time comes that Collingwood might want to trade Cloke, he’ll be worth nothing. At the moment though Collingwood do need someone like him but I believe in short term pain, long term gain. This being Wright’s inclusion at the Collingwood Football Club could mean an even worse year than before, but with him and Darcy Moore developing into fine young forwards with Corey Gault and Mason Cox as your depth players, the Collingwood forward line could become quite a fearsome lineup

Cloke is pretty useless Scowny. I’ll give you that but for a young team like Gold Coast his leadership and marking ability would be invaluable to the club. The first round draft pick is pretty harsh but Collingwood need to trade Cloke before he’s worth nothing at all and getting a first round draft pick how ever unlikely is what they would be looking for if they were to trade Cloke. I’m not saying the trade is fair for Gold Coast but for Collingwood they would be getting the good end of the stick in that trade

I agree with you, but the suns did appeal and that’s why his ban was upgraded from a 2 week to a 3 week. And yes it was never a ban in the first place. I im just saying that really how many times are players going to get reported for bumps that aren’t ban-worthy

Does May's ban signal the end of the hip and shoulder?

Yes I remember the Buddy Franklin bump but many bumps have been cleared since then giving the big bumps a glimmer of hope of becoming prominent throughout the AFL once more. I just thought the Steven May bump was the last straw.

I agree with excell here. The yorker is probably the best ball to use when in a tough situation. We saw Mitchell Starc use it against New Zealand in the group stages of the World Cup and it almost won the game. So I don’t know why every one these days wants to go bowling bouncers and shorter balls when you can pitch it at their toes and off they go. There was an instance in South Africa vs New Zealand in the semis where Dale Styene was bowling and New Zealand needed 6 off 2 balls now Styen being a typical bowler bowled it at a length and got hit for 6 now New Zealand had Vitorri batting and somone else I can’t remember but if he had bowled two yorkers the World Cup Final would be Australia and South Africa which would be no where near as exciting as New Zealand and Australia but still… BOWL A YORKER FOR CHRIST SAKE

What has happened to bowling yorkers in Test cricket?

Yes I know Watson has much more experience but I see Marsh a better player than him in the future and I think that’s why I’m a little bias towards marsh playing instead of Watson. Yes Watson has experience and the caliber of his playing style in undeniably one of the best in the world when on form but I think another explosive player is what the Australian team needs heading into the future so maybe not now but in the next year or two Marsh will replace Watson even though it pains me to say it.

That’s very true but if you remember the world cup game against England. That was one game he one off his own performance. But I’ll hand it to you, you never change a winning team especially if a final is coming up. But personally I would’ve liked to have seen more of MMarh throughout the tournament.

Drop Shane Watson for the World Cup final

Marsh is a faster bowler and a much bigger hitter from the start of his innings in these two ways he is better than Watson.

You have some very good points there. Still Bailey wouldn’t be a better replacement for Watson as Watson’s an all-rounder and bailey’s just a batsman really. MMarsh is a great bowler and a good batsmen and yes Marsh might’ve been bogged down but we saw his promise against England and if he plays like that he is much more valuable to the Australian line-up than Watson. But you are correct the line-up will most likely not be changed, this is just the team I would like to see.

Hi Gav, I agree with u in many respects there but you saw against India what happened when Watto and Clarke couldn’t fire up, It didn’t look like we were going to make 300. We ended up making 300 but New Zealand is a lot better than India and will make us pay if we get bogged down and start playing defensively. For that reason Marsh would be a great replacement for Watto as he can come out and hit big straight away and will punish the kiwis attack.

Bretto, there are better players than Dwyer and Macaffer is still very much on the injury list recovering from his ACL injury. I need to see more of Thomas before he makes my 18 but he looked good against Hawthorn who admittedly weren’t playing their best team. Again like Macaffer, Reid is still very much on the injury list should be back around week 3-4

Collingwood's best XVIII

Hi Piefan right now Reid is injured and that is the only reason he’s out of my team. I really do feel sorry for Ben Kennedy and that’s why I’ve put him as starter, he starts as a sub too often. Freeman just as sub for the first match to ease him into the AFL. De Goey might start round one though but I don’t want to see him start that early as their are others that deserve the spot more. Also De Goey is new and he will be an on off player. I do agree with you though Karnezis and Fasolo do need to prove themselves.

Collingwood's best XVIII

Warner
Finch
Smith
Clarke
Maxwell
Marsh
Haddin
Faukner
Starc
Cummins
Hazlewood

Never likes Johnson so he’s out and Watson’s out of form so he’s out too

Faulkner in, but who will be out?

Another Great Article by Max Willis 🙂

Postecoglou the first step in the Socceroos' future

Love replying to your articles Max just one flaw in your reply Ager but at 11 and you put Maddison at 2 opening would be hard for a young debutant and Warner could get better I would rather have him in at number two and Maddison at number 7 and Haddin at number 6 and of course Hughes the snick can play 12th man and when needed play in the slips just because he knows how to play their as he hits it there A LOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂

The Australian XI for the first Ashes Test

I say trade Shaw and pick 27 for pick 35 and Taylor Adams then trade pick 35 for Jesse White and pick 49 and 67

Magpie Heath Shaw wants to join Giants

Ange Postecoglou

Postecoglou, Arnold or Popovic: who should take over as Socceroos coach?

A few players that u have said would never made my team including Phil Hughes and Maddison would be my 12th man having a debut in the ashes wold be daunting expecially as an opener and where is Warner and Brad as a co vice no way and Wade is my keeper though he does need more time and Fualkner is not in my line up but otherwise I say it is another great article 🙂
