I know this is all hypothetical but im going to pick it apart anyway.

First off, the nrl would never reduce the competition to a 12 team comp. That would mean only 6 games a week, which means the nrl would make less money from broadcasting deals. It will never happen.

Secondly, the nrl would never get rid of “1 team town” teams. Knights , raiders and titans all safe. I also doubt you would see secondary Brisbane and new Zealand teams. Union will always rule the sporting roost in NZ and the warriors haven’t shown both the on field or off field success necesarry for a secondary team. The Broncos have, but the pretty much hold all the power in Brisbane, they’d never let the nrl do it and they’re supporters would never jump ship to a new team.

Lastly, plenty of people say the nrl talent pool isn’t big enough to maintain a 16 team comp. The truth is that there is always going to be a team that will come last. And plenty of teams have feeder clubs filled to the brim with nrl level talent. I think that 16 teams definitely stretches the talent but it isn’t as ridiculous as everyone says.

Anyway it would work better being something like
16 team comp:
Brisbane Broncos
North Queensland Cowboys
Gold Coast Titans
Central Queensland Team
Sydney Roosters
South Sydney Rabbitohs
St George Illawarra
Northern Sydney Team
Western Sydney Team
Penrith
NZ Warriors
Melbourne Storm
Canberra Raiders
Newcastle Knights
Perth Team
Adelaide Team

Or for a 14 team comp:
Brisbane Broncos
North Queensland Cowboys
Gold Coast Titans
Central Queensland
Sydney Roosters
South Sydney Rabbitohs
St George Illawarra
West Sydney
North Sydney
Canberra Raiders
Newcastle Knights
Melbourne Storm
Perth
NZ Warriors

NRL 2025: A fan fiction

Feel sorry for Ryan James. One of the best performing forwards of the year and overlooked for origin, Dally M team of the year (when he finished 5th in all round voting) and now not even named in the top 24. If you ever wanted a sign there is sense of bias against the Titans, this is it.

Kangaroos squad: Andrew Fifita overlooked due to off-field controversy

Without a doubt, but unfortunately it isn’t going to get them to week 2 of the finals. Hopefully it will drive them into a Canberra-esque force next year and they’ll kill it. Good to see them back in Finals footy anyway.

Titans fans and players have every right to feel aggrieved

MRC don’t have a clue anymore and im sick of hearing Buetner throw out explanations that make absolutely no sense. Hopefully the juduciary can get it right but geez it aint looking good. Really feel bad for the raiders regarding what they have done this season.

Jack Wighton's suspension confirms Match Review Committee's complete incompetence

I more or less meant the rule but still the bunker had the chance to rectify it. It’s very annoying but at least they are consistent with their stuff ups.

Wests Tigers vs Canberra Raiders highlights: Raiders smash Tigers

Geez no wonder fans want the bunker gone. Woods wasn’t within 5 metres of the raiders runner. What a joke.

Wests Tigers vs Canberra Raiders highlights: Raiders smash Tigers

I don’t think the Tigers will be able to beat the Raiders anyway, but I don’t think it will come to that. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Titans beat the Cowboys, there just seems to be some sort of hoodoo with the Titans being favourites and playing at home and they always seem to lose. Doubt it will matter anyway because whoever does fill in that 8th spot will probably just get knocked out first week anyway.

Pick a winner? Impossible - plus more talking points from the NRL weekend

Its if you play a full 80 minutes of football combined within 7 matches.

because Taylor has played neither 80 minutes of Football or 7 matches he’s qualified to win the award.
Not like he’d have any competition though, it;s him first daylight second for mine, no other rookie comes close.

The real NRL rookies shining in 2016

*Yawn.

At least there’s no Jarrryd Hayne mention in there but all im seeing is a salty Raiders supporter who is trying to cast away years of mismanagement from the Raiders front office and blame it on an NRL conspiracy.

Let’s just leave these conspiracies to Cowboys fans.

It's official: The NRL is getting smashed by the AFL

So did the Melbourne players and other Parramatta players. Singling out Hayne is ridiculous.

It’s a descent showing of the support behind small clubs like the Titans when they make a coup like this and everyone just thinks its some sort of conspiracy or something. Really poor form from alot of NRL observers today who show lack of intelligence in the game

Five big questions about Jarryd Hayne signing with the Gold Coast Titans

The worst part is that it was replayed multiple times. It looked like Maloney was trying to hurt Hurrell.

The MRC and referees need to get on level pickings. Where do they draw the line for Golden Point penalties. Is a lifting tackle going to be penalised. You could excuse all the offsides but once again that tackle could have done extreme damage to any player let alone one who believe had suffered a calf injury a few weeks ago.

Titans vs Sharks was all that is good about footy, except...

Pretty sure that was the year when NZ won the four nations. He had a blinder in that tournament, but had JT or Hayne played for Australia theres a high chance either of them walk away with it.

NRL Round 21 round up

As i said in the article above, the issues isn;t so much Johnson as it is the club. He’s a talented player, not denying it. But you throw him in with some descent players (and a descent coach) and them numbers could be so much more. His potential is wasted at the Warriors.

NRL Round 21 round up

I agree and on the Mead call. Ennis was already tackled so Mead going in was most likely just an afterthought but there still should have been no reason to send it up at all had Mead not have gone in.

As for the Penalty count it always seems to go against the Gold Coast anyway (pretty sure they haven’t won a penalty count this year) but they still need to give the ref no reason to suspect a penalty.

On another note can;t help but notice James Maloney has been charged with a Grade 2 dangerous contact charge for his his tackle on Konrad Hurrell in the 8th minute of extra time. Why this wasn’t blown a penalty on the spot is another classic example of the referees being useless and should answer a few of the questions you raised in this article.

Titans vs Sharks was all that is good about footy, except...

If either coach had won you’d hear nothing of it.

What a fantastic Game. An instant classic and both teams where on song. Such a Shame that wasnt a Friday night free to air game. That could be the game of the year easily.

“To run such a streak when they are probably not even the best or second best team in the comp is irrefutable.” – Yeah that’s why Sharks are coming first isn’t it. Surely they can’t be one of the top 2 teams in the comp.

Brad Arthur, Neil Henry, and the fair dinkum coach of the year battle

ah ok thought it was for brown smacking old mate in the face.

Pretty sure that was against nathan Brown. Can’t stand him. Cost his team the win last week and is an absolute grub.

wow, thought titans were cooked in Golden Point. Very poor to let Rabbits back into the game.

South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Gold Coast Titans highlights: Titans win, Taylor the hero

I think this article is a descent example of what is wrong with State of Origin. It has become more about channel 9 and less about the game itself. The fact they even insist on showing on wednesdays is only to pump up advertisement for their own shows. It’s heavily critisised that Channel 9 have full control over the way the draw plays out and it’s taken control away from the NRL. It’s all about money and less about growing the game.

Origin coverage: Bring back the Gus monologues, kill the cringe

3 games over 2 weeks wouldn’t be that hard, some players are doing it right now, Espescially if they are getting paid for it. They would be all over it.

State of Origin shouldn’t be bigger than the NRL during the NRL season. If players weren’t getting paid to play state of Origin then they wouldn’t.

State of Origin schedule farce must come to an end

I think Origin wouldn’t have any issue managing that number whenever it was played. It always draws them kind of numbers anyway.

We need to define right now what is more important. The 26 week season where 16 teams compete for the title, or the State vs State novelty that only goes for 4 weeks and can have a large impact on the main season.

State of Origin schedule farce must come to an end

I doubt the NRL would be played less regardless when Origin is played. A 2 week 3 game series at the end of October would not only draw in massive crowds but would make the games a more gripping contest due to the fact you don’t have to wait 3 weeks for each different match to come around. Then you have your other rep fixtures in November (or the World cup/four nations) and you’re set.
