but how do you garner public interest if everything goes on behind close doors? and I am not talking about the rugby lovers like ourselves, I am talking about the people who may not necessarily watch our game, they are the people we need to attract and generic media answers are never going to do that. Horwills emotion allows people who do have a bad thought of rugby union to see the natural hurt and emotion that goes into a performance. We must remember rugby is a distance third to AFL and NRL and Horwill’s reaction has sparked conversation. Do we all of sudden won’t the ARU to come out condemn Horwill? does that not look like typical ARU trying to save its own behind?

but they are so far ahead in terms of media attention and participation. I agree, i think rugby league is the worse but i don’t think rugby should strive for the AFL or NRL but set its own standards.
