Not really sure what your angle is here. Regardless of who was in the race, its a Group One 2000m race at Flemington during the Spring Carnival?? From where she came from the run was first class. Anyone with any racing knowledge knows she’s the real deal. Watch the All-Star mile and get back to me.

Completely agree, this whole saga has exposed deeper issues.

How deep do the Black Caps' coaching problems run?

Agree Riccardo I believe a lot of Steads early success can be put down to the previous regime lead by Mike Hesson.

How deep do the Black Caps' coaching problems run?

Hi Paul.
Firstly I think the two issues are related because they both involve Gary Stead. In regards to your second point I did address this break was pre-planned but questioned the timing in actually taking it due to the fact they were on a eight match losing streak. It doesn’t really matter if the head of NZC was okay with it, I’m speaking for the fans. To your third point that’s probably fine for someone like Langer or Virat as their teams were probably winning at the time.

Very good point, it seems as though Santner can do no wrong in the selectors eyes. He’s good with the bat but can’t turn it and leaks runs with the ball. If there aren’t any other spin options (although most would be a better option) then you’re right, go with four seamers. It’s like they are hoping that Santner will be the second coming of Daniel Vettori when its evident to a blind man he is not.

Completely agree Warne is a breath of fresh air in the 9 commentary team. His analysis is second to none (probably the best cricket brain in the world) The once revered Channel 9 team has been dismantled of talent in recent years to the point where I really only value the comments of Warne, Chappell and Mark Taylor the rest are un-ashamed cheerleaders for the Australians and are a really tough listen. Slater, Healy, Brayshaw and even Nicholas are like nails down a blackboard. Obviously Warne isn’t afraid to speak his mind and god forbid-criticise an Australian. If he doesn’t tow the party line and put the pom poms on obviously him and Channel 9 will part ways, but one thing we do know is Shane Warne cannot be tamed by anybody.

Silent Achiever will win the Cox Plate. Been given terrible rides by Oliver, told to go forward but has gone back both times. Once Nash is on he will go forward and win.

Past the Post: Randwick and Flemington wrap

Why shouldn’t he be mentioned with the greats? He’s won two premierships (maybe three) played over 100 first grade games and set the standard for second rowers over that time. When should he be mentioned with the greats? I’m sure if he was Australian he would be lauded as one of the greats.

Is greatness defined by premierships? if so how many did Joey and Freddie win? Answer two each.

Is it defined by games played? If so surely 100 is enough to prove yourself? if not how many does he need to play?

Is it by how he plays at the highest level? If so this is a valid argument as he has never beaten Aus. the draw in 2004 (when he was the best player on the park) was the best he could do.

Or is it defined by an impact on a team? If so he should certainly be mentioned with the greats, you interview anyone who’s played with him and they will describe the effect he’s had on the team and organisation.

But at the end of the day this is a very objective argument and it comes down to peoples opinions.

Mine? I think that SBW should certainly be mentioned with the greats of the game, the greatest? No way but certainly somewhere in the top 50 to have laced a boot.

Sonny Bill Williams – The greatest athlete who never became a league legend

How do you know?

How’s that prediction looking now Ed?

Moyes not the only one to blame

My understanding was that the Warriors only offered Cleary a 1-2 year extension when he wanted more and thats what Penrith and Gus offered him so he asked for a early release and away he went

Totally agree with the comments about Price being stripped of the captaincy-this was a masterstroke from Cleary which paid dividends when the made they GF the next year. The problem is that they let Cleary go just as he was building to something. He was to become a career coach at the Warriors in my opinion not too disimilar to Wayne Bennett at Brisbane, why they never extended his contract is beyond me. Eric Watson should have sacked CEO Wayne Scurrah and cleaned out the board after that blunder.

Can’t agree with your comment about Sheens. The man has won 4 premierships and he is in the echelon of ‘SuperCoach’ along with Bennett and Craig Bellamy and ahead of coaches like Hasler. He’s also the current Aussie coach.

Put Sheens in charge of football operations such as Goulds General Manager role at Penrith then back a young coach such as McFadden or David Kidwell to get the job done.

There needs to be a clean out starting with the CEO and board then start with the players. Anyone who wants out? let them go. Start building the team around 5 or 6 guys the rest are dispensable.

In my opinion the players they should be building around are Mannering, Thomas Leuluai, Jacob Lillyman all seasoned pros who know what hard work and digging in means. Add to that the experience of Nathan Friend for this year, Vatuvei and the potential of Shaun Johnson and there’s our nucleus. Although there is alot of talk about Johnson its clear we need to perservere with him as he is the best homegrown half the Warriors have had since Stacey Jones and has the chance to become a franchise player.

The rest of the players are dispensable Hurrell and Mateo turning up 10-15 kilos overweight shows their committment and they can be the first to be shown the door. The same thing happened at the end of 2000 when the Warriors nearly folded key personeel such as Jones were retained while they signed a hardnose player such as Campion as well as seasoned pros who were committed to cause such as PJ Marsh, John Carlaw and Mark Tookey together with their young coach in Daniel Anderson and alot of homegrown talent they made the GF inside two years.

SO in summary get rid of Scurrah, the board, keep the players mentioned and read the riot act to the rest and if they dont like it get rid of them. Sign a seasoned Aussie pro in the mould of a Chris Heighington or somebody like that hire Sheens as GM and back McFadden or Kidwell.
